Apple TV disconnects from wifi daily, sometimes several times a day Posted: 31 Mar 2020 05:24 PM PDT Requiring a restart. I have auto updates on, but after a few days of this issue I checked for updates, and it did download an update. However, the very next day, my wifi was not connected and I had to restart the Apple TV again, just like before. Every time its when I load AT&T Now app, if this matters. But once it is disconnected from the wifi, netflix and disney+ do not work either until restart. Is this a known issue right now? [link] [comments] |
Amazon Music transport controls don't work Posted: 01 Apr 2020 01:27 AM PDT Anyone else running Amazon Music on Apple TV? I can browse the app fine, choose an album, playlist, or station without issue, and choose a song from the resulting list. Unfortunately, once I'm playing music, the transport controls don't work. I can navigate them and pressing Enter seems to trigger whatever I select, in that it highlights and blinks, but nothing changes. It won't advance to the next song. Can't back up. The thumb-up and -down selections don't register. Anyone else seeing this behavior? [link] [comments] |
I can’t seem to be able to watch iTunes extras on the appletv app Posted: 31 Mar 2020 08:47 AM PDT I downloaded the AppleTV app on my Toshiba tv but when I go watch the movie I can't find the extras it does have the extras because on my iPad is shows that it's available I tried everything online nothing seems to work [link] [comments] |
Apple TV App & Google Play Movies Posted: 31 Mar 2020 10:50 PM PDT Very random question, hoping someone might know why this occured: I recently bought a 5-disc blu ray / digital set of Jurassic Park / Jurassic World. I used the digital codes for Google Play because over the years we've accumulated quite the collection of digital movies on that platform. We also recently purchased Onward, the new Disney movie. My question is, these movies are showing up when I open Apple TV on my MacBook and open the app on my Roku. Usually my Apple TV library only showed movies I had purchased on iTunes from years ago but now they are showing those Jurassic movies and Onward. It isn't showing any other movies I own on Google Play. Does anyone have any idea why this is occurring? [link] [comments] |
Turning on TV HDMI CEC - App Remote vs physical Apple Siri Remote Posted: 31 Mar 2020 10:11 PM PDT Apologies if this has been asked before - I did a search via Google and Reddit but seems like I can't find an answer... I am able to turn off my TV via HDMI CEC through Remote app AND physical Apple Remote. No issues here. Turning on my TV via HDMI CEC is fine using physical Apple Remote. But it does not work using the Remote App. Is this an expected behaviour? Thanks! [link] [comments] |

AppleTV and Apple Music problem Posted: 31 Mar 2020 04:33 PM PDT I have an AppleTV 4k and Apple Music. I also have an iPhone 11 pro and a MacBook Pro, and a Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound system attached to my TV and Apple TV. When trying to listen to music on my 5.1 through AppleTV, there are VERY different sound qualities coming from my different devices, all using Apple Music. Best sound quality comes from my phone, via airplay. Pretty good sound quality from the Music App right on my AppleTV. TERRIBLE quality sound coming from my MacBook Pro, via airplay. Like all the speakers are blown out. What is causing this, and how can I get good sound quality from all my apple devices? I've tried messing with EQs and running everything flat from the source, but the quality levels are consistent. [link] [comments] |
Stock Watchlist App for Apple TV? Posted: 31 Mar 2020 08:26 AM PDT Does anyone have any suggestions? It seems like the best one I could find is Yahoo Finance, with the rest of them being pretty bad. I prefer the google finance view on desktop, but sadly no ATV app. Fidelity, who has a wonderful iOS app, unfortunately is quite bad on ATV. Any suggestions would be really appreciated! Pausing and resuming video rewinds by random amount Posted: 31 Mar 2020 07:38 AM PDT When I'm watching a show and for any reason I need to pause, if I don't resume the video within 10 seconds or so, it randomly rewinds the video by anywhere from 5 seconds to 2 minutes. I notice this mostly on Amazon Video through their IMDB content. If it was consistently 5 seconds, I could see how that might be a useful feature, but when I pause after a commercial break to wait for my wife to get back from wherever she ran off to, it's frustrating to have it rewind to before the commercial started and have to watch them all over again. Is this intentional? I know this used to happen to people a couple years back. Was there ever a fix? [link] [comments] |
Netflix won't work on my apple tv 4 Posted: 31 Mar 2020 11:22 AM PDT I've restarted it, I re-installed the app, the software is up to date. Everything else works on my apple tv but not my netflix, please help. [link] [comments] |
Defective Ethernet Component on Apple TV 4K Posted: 31 Mar 2020 08:18 AM PDT I'm a loyal Apple product owner for over 30yrs and have owned an Apple TV 4K for alittle over 2 years. Suddenly yesterday for no apparent reason, the ethernet component stops working. My Apple TV has to be connected to ethernet because the in-house wi-fi coverage is poor. I read through the online communities and tried everything to troubleshoot the problem myself - connected to wifi to confirm it works (it did), updated the OS, switched locations and connections with an Apple TV in another room (TV, HDMI, ethernet cable), connected directly to the cable modem using a new ethernet cable, and completed a full factory reset/upgrade. Nothing worked so I called Apple Support just to see if they might have a solution. As suspected, Apple Support concluded it was a problem with the ethernet component but would not accept responsibility for a defective component. They said the problem is not covered by any available warranties and could only offer a repair/replace option. Taking that offer will cost $149 and I'm required to pack up the device and send to Apple for repair, it could take over a week (at best) to get it back. My first issue is how can a component as critical as ethernet go out on an Apple TV and then Apple says "sorry, you'll have to buy another one"?!! Connectivity is a fundamental function of the Apple TV, it's worthless without it. One would think that all components supporting connectivity would be the most tested and durable as compared to the other components. Not so with this product! Second issue is the cost and time to replace. Why should I pay nearly the same price as a new unit for a repaired unit and wait a week or more? I can literally order a new one from an online retailer, get it here within 2 days and it will have a new warranty! I can't go to work and I'm stuck at home with COVID shelter in place and now my favorite source of entertainment goes out because Apple decided to take the cheapest option on a critical component!! So very disappointed, looks like Apple has lost it's customer-first mantra and is becoming the same as all the other profit-first companies. Thought there was something special with this company...guess not anymore. :( [link] [comments] |
Should I buy the Apple TV 4K now or wait for the new Apple TV? Posted: 31 Mar 2020 07:25 AM PDT |
Posted: 31 Mar 2020 07:57 AM PDT upgraded from 4th gen HD apple TV to 4K model recently, and the picture looks horrible. my TV is a brand new 4k HDR vizio. Everything is just way too bright and the dark parts of the screen are horribly grainy and compressed looking. I did a little googling because I wondered if it was just me, or if thats just how non HDR content looks. Turns out thats just how HDR Apple TVs are: https://www.cnet.com/news/apple-tv-4k-no-longer-forces-you-to-watch-everything-in-hdr/ I ended up just changing the settings of the Apple TV to "4K SDR 60Hz" and it looks SO much better. If HDR looks like shit for 90% of the content out there, then why does Apple ship it this way? its kinda mind blowing that it looks that bad OOTB. Am I missing something here? Edit for clarification: setting it to 4K SDR and match content DOES work fine for me, so its not an issue with my TV or cable. The thing that I'm really puzzled by is why Apple would ship their product HDR always on, if that means most of the content (including the apple tv menus) looks really bad. Its just not really like them to ship a product that looks broken, and only if you dig into the settings, can you make it look correct. I realize now that my title is misleading, I dont mean is HDR as a feature itself garbage. I mean is having a device where HDR is forced to enabled even when most of the content out there isnt HDR is a garbage idea. poorly worded on my part [link] [comments] |
