Need guidance on downgrading from Catalina to older system for 2019 MacBook Pro

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 12:28 AM PDT

I thought I was pretty decent with computers, but the last couple days I have been trying to tackle getting my computer downgraded to back to Mojave as I accidentally updated to Catalina and now a lot of my music programs are messed up or glitching.

I downloaded Mojave into a blank usb and followed some very tedious guides I found, but ended up having to enter a disk password which got me totally stuck.

I unfortunately do not have a time machine backup

Does anyone know of a more simple walkthrough on how I can do this?

How do you clear you macbook keyboard?

Hi all! I have MacBook pro 2018 and there is mud between keys on my keyboard. How can I clear this mud to let my keyboard live so long without any problems? Some time ago I just scrapped it off, but then I found info about #keyboardgate.

Anyone know how to show the .ttc files of fonts already installed on Mac OS Catalina?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 11:24 PM PDT

I'm looking to go about this workaround so that I can get Helvetica regular to work properly in Adobe (for some reason, it doesn't even thought I've updated all programs now), but I can't find the .ttc file

    Purchase advice?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 09:30 PM PDT

Right now I am in the market for purchasing a MacBook. I do not have much experience since I am coming from Windows, but this year I started a job that has given me a MacBook. First I had an older MacBook Pro that was quite bad, but was then later upgraded to a 2015 Air which I love. My question is, since I am in the market for my own personal computer, would you all recommend a 2020 Air or Pro? Should I wait until the new pro is released which I have been hearing rumored will happen fairly soon? I will mainly be using it for school work, chrome, YouTube, etc. with no video or photo editing. I am just worried since I have heard a lot about the 2020 air getting very hot and noisy quickly, which does not sound ideal to me. I would live to hear y'all a thoughts. Thank you!

How does the Macbook Pro 13" i5 with an 8GB RAM perform during video editing using FCPX?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 05:03 PM PDT

Hi there guys! I'm planning to buy a 2015 MBP 13" i5 8GB RAM. I chose this model for portability and it's lightness. I'm wondering on how it would perform using FCPX and other editing software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects. Will it do well? Most of the things that I'm editing are for online content so I don't really need to edit 4k videos and huge photo files. I'm quite on a budget and I can't find any 16GB RAM variant. I need it the new laptop ASAP since my Sony Vaio E 15 is hanging on thread.

    Thanks!

    Macbook Pro 2012 Heat Issues

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 08:37 PM PDT

Anyone else here using a baseline 13" MBP 2012? Upgraded the storage to an 860 EVO and the RAM with a two 8 GB crucial sticks.

The moment I turn it up, the surface starts heating up almost like a frying pan. But according to clean my mac, the CPU temp is at around 65 - 70 degrees. Not sure if it's normal considering that it's an old machine and i'm from a tropical country.

Other than that, still runs like a beast even for professional music production.

Best way to handle this? Thanks!

MacBook Pro 16" Coverslips and Screen Protector

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 05:51 PM PDT

    Hi all,

I just bought a new MacBook Pro 16", and I have a nice carrying case (Woolnut, a very excellent company that I would recommend highly!), but I do want to protect the metal finish on the computer when I remove it from the case. I was checking out covers from the company, FishSkyn.

    1. Has anybody used this company? If so, would you recommend it to protect the finish of the computer?

    2. Does anybody have a screen protector brand that they would recommend? I've had my old
macbook for almost ten years, and it only has one or two small scratches on the screen, but I
really want to take care of my new one.

    Thanks everyone!

    Laptop stand

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 07:51 AM PDT

Heyo! I'm considering investing in a laptop stand for my MacBook Air. I found that the MStand Rain design is quite popular. However, I wasn't sure if I need to have an external keyboard to be able to use it. I use my laptop mostly for studying. Kindly advise :) Thanks x

My sister has asked me to help her buy a macbook, she wants to know which would be best for her as a student about to go on to college. She's fine with a model that's a year or two old.

    Buying macbooks from other regions

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 03:12 PM PDT

Hello, is there anything I should worry about if I'm buying a MacBook pro from another region on eBay? I found an ad from Slovenia and the main thing I could think of was whether the keyboard layout is identical to that of a MacBook from NA (it looks like it should be the same).

any related advice would be helpful too. Thanks!

Top spec MBP 2015 or MBP 2019 base model?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 01:34 PM PDT

So most of you are gonna say MBP 2015. Hear me out. I can get a macbook pro 2015 with i7 512ssd and dual graphics for the same price as a used macbook pro 2019. I dont exactly need ot to be very powerful because i will use it for development. And i know the 2019 has many issues. But they are both priced similarly and where im from thats a lot of money. So i i buy something with my year of saving i want it to last a a good amount of years. Lets say for 5 years. So will the 2015 last more 5 years? Thanks in advance.

2013 MacBook Air A1466 not booting from bootcamp Flash Drive.

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 01:06 PM PDT

I have the specified MacBook running the latest version on Catalina, I went through the bootcamp process without a hitch and at the end where it's supposed to restart and go into the windows installer, it just boots normally to Mac. Also when I manually select the flash drive to boot from, it just boots normally into Mac OS.

Any help would be much appreciated as I've been tearing my hair out for days.

    Thanks.

When to charge the macbook? (Air ‘17)

I bought one (my first mac). Should I charge it on 25% or 40%? For preserving the battery life.

    Macbook air crunching sound?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 08:29 AM PDT

My macbook air (2020 i5) makes a crunching/crinkling sound if I press on the bottom of the case at all after extended use . I've been using Turboboost Switcher to keep temps down but I does get warm. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm not pressing very hard, just as much force as picking up the closed laptop. My return window is still open, should I exchange?

    Spilled vinegar on macbook

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 08:26 AM PDT

I recently had a new MacBook for my birthday I carelessly was eating some salad with a vinegar and salt mixture and accidentally spilled it on the keyboard and trackpad. It started making a noise so I Quickly turned it off and wiped it with a paper towel as quick I as a could. I then tuned it back on and the mouse moves but I can't click on it and the keys don't work. I now have it upside drying. I'm scared I've broke it guys. I can't take it apart myself and as we're in lockdown .I can't take it anywhere to get it repaired either.
