    My teacher gave me a 2009 macbook but it had a password on it. Followed a tutorial on how to create a secondary account if you have no admin privileges and this is what I have now. I can't access anything and everything is a question mark. Any tips, please?

    My IPhone 8’s screen just got covered by this. It changes color every so often. I was on the new iOS 13 beta and was using my phone normally when this happened. It won’t show up in iTunes when I connect it to my computer and hard restarting doesn’t do anything. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Mac Pro 5,1 12-Core not booting

    So I bought a secondhand Mac Pro 5,1 recently as I was tired of jumping through hoops trying to get a Hackintosh running decently well and I had the parts to upgrade it. It didn't have any hard drive with it, so I needed to install Mojave on it, then just use Dosdude1's Catalina Patcher for 10.15.

    Well to get the system up and running, I'd need to update the firmware to be able to use and run with Mojave and an RX 480. Tried updating the firmware, and got nowhere with it. Fine, off to the Apple Store.

    I go there, and we get Mavericks installed and the first round of firmware updating done. Perfect. After that, I installed High Sierra, and updated the firmware for that no problem. Got Mojave up and running no problem either.

    Here's where issues start to occur, and my greedy-butt wanting to further push Catalina.

    I downloaded the Catalina Patch tool, and had trouble getting into recovery mode. First keyboard it just wouldn't take the CMD+R, so I tried a different one, and it worked. Disabled the SIP, and booted back up to install 10.15.

    At some point during the update, the system just shut completely off. I go to turn it on now, and it will stall during boot. Keyboard lights up, mouse lights up, CD tray opens and closes (not sure why), and my monitor flashes for a quick second before reporting no signal. Tried booting into recovery, and no luck. Tried booting to a usb drive, and same issue.

    I've tried power cycling it, but I have no other idea to go off of. The GPU does work, and the monitor does too. It's just the system isn't displaying anything.

    I was looking through my old iPhone 5s' box when I noticed this, the box (Italian and either Spanish or Portuguese) has a typing error on it, on the Italian version it says that the box includes an iPhone 5s, as it does, but on the other side it says iphone 5c (bougth in Apple store) Is it normal?

    MacBook pro black screen on startup

    I had an issue a few days ago where my MacBook pro had a black screen on startup and solved it by following the steps for SMC NVRAM reboot and all was well. Today it happened again and I followed the steps for SMC NVRAM reboot again with no luck ... It was still making sounds for when I plugged my charger in and the keyboard lights were on, but always has an all black screen. I reset the PRAM as well but nothing has turned my screen back on!!!

    Please let me know if there's something else I need to do or if you have any personal experience with something similar. Thanks in advance!

    MacBook Air with two LG Ultrafine External Monitors

    The 2nd UltraFine monitor won't turn on unless I restart my MacBook Air. Once restarted both external monitors work perfectly. Any suggestions so I don't have to restart my laptop multiple times each day?

    Home Sharing Works on Mac But Not iOS/tvOS

    I have iTunes Home Sharing set up on a macOS media server. It works just fine on my Macbook Pro, but when I try to access it on my iPad or Apple TV, it can never find the library. All client devices are connected via the same wi-fi network on my AirPort Extreme, and the server is hooked up to the router via ethernet. The server is running Mojave and is authorized for Home Sharing.

    iMac Intel 27" mid 2010 / No Chime, Black Screen after High sierra update

    After not using my old iMac for a long time I turned it on and it was working fine (with OS 10.6.8) . I successfully upgraded it to El Capitan (after changing the date to 2016 in the terminal). iMac still working fine after the upgrade, then the same day i decided to upgrade it to the latest available software (High Sierra). Update going fine until the automatic reboot, I could hear iMac rebooting (no chime though) and the screen stays black.

    After restarting it a couple of times I tried PRAM reset, but i noticed the wireless Keyboard and mouse aren't connecting (green led keeps blinking for about 3 min). I also tried with a Windows USB keyboard with no results.

    I also tried a SMC reset but it didn't work.

    I tried to connect the iMac with a VGA cable to my TV but it didn't work (with my MacBook Pro it connects immediately).

    I removed the screen and when booting the iMac I noticed that the first 2 diagnostic LEDs are ON (1st is always ON), but the 3rd and 4th are not.

    I tried to "bake" the GPU (AMD 109-B98557-00) in the oven for 10 min at 190°C/374°F), also with no results.

    What could be the cause of this issue? The computer has been working perfectly until now. Should i buy a new GPU? Or is it the update that caused the issue?

    How should I buy my iPhone?

    I have a Galaxy S8+ that I was initially looking to hold on till the release of the iPhone 12, however, I recently also got the Apple Watch and now am basically impatient. I, however, am very interested in the iPhone 12 (mainly for 5G as it is now available in my city, also partly curious if the cameras will see even more upgrades). I was wondering in a period of waiting for the iPhone 12, would purchase a used iPhone 11 for ~$500 of craigslist and later sell it/trade it in makes sense? Financially, I have no issues of buying a new iPhone 11 Pro Max (as an example), but knowing the hassle of selling a phone, and likely eating the depreciation, I just wasn't sure how smart of an idea it is.

    I was also considering the Apple Upgrade Program, but I also am not sure how financially sound it would be as it basically does feel like a loan you kind of are locked into (I believe you have to make a minimum of 12 payments in order to upgrade or leave the program?) as I usually am not a fan of additional monthly payments/expenses (I am a bit of a frugal guy, but also have my boundaries). Should I just go the used route? If so, what would be a good price for the iPhone 11 64GB nowadays? I see them trending at around $580 on Swappa, but is it possible to find them even cheaper than this? Knowing my goal, is it also worth considering an iPhone XS/XS Max (since it is a generation older) or would it not retain the same value as compared to the iPhone 11 by the time the iPhone 12 releases?

    My SSHD keeps reformatting itself and I’m not sure why? Any help is appreciated.

    My computer was stuck in a restart loop in early January and I wiped the drive which didn't help, today, I realized that for some reason it was a SFPS or something like that. And now I can't use it again. Why would it keep reformatting itself? And can I make it stop? Maybe the drive is just broke? I have another one I can use if necessary, but it's not as powerful and has less space.

    I have a 2012 MBP.

    Can’t update or download any apps from App Store. Please help.

    Hi,

    If I try it will start, but freeze.

    What I've tried -

    Turning phone off/on again does not work, but does help in stopping the updates.

    Closing and reopening App Store doesn't work either.

    While App Store refuses to work, the phone can still do system updates and using current version of iOS. In case it's relevant - 13.3.1

    No restrictions are on.

    Have plenty of space on phone.

    I don't believe it's a login issue or data issue as I have a Mac/iPad with the same account with no problems updating or downloading.

    [Question]Can my father’s company track my phone after removing the company profile and resetting the phone?

    So, my dad has bought an iPhone X in 2018 and had registered it to work with his office email (he installed the profile of the office on it). Fast forward to now, he got the XR and decided to remove the company profile and reset the X. I asked him if I could have the phone (X) and he was reluctant to give it at first saying that his company still had access to the data on the phone. There was no profile installed on the phone at that time. After a few days, he finally gave me the phone. Is it still possible for his company to be tracking this phone without the company profile being installed?

    Magic Trackpad 2 hard click/press

    I have Magic Trackpad 2 for a year, and for some reason, recently there was no "click" feels again. Although the function is still running normally. But when I click/press, what I feel from my Magic trackpad is just hard and stiff.

    I have tried several times to disconnect all bluetooth devices, reset NVRAM/PRAM and SMC. Restart my Magic Trackpad or MBP. And nothing works.

    2017 MacBook Pro / Sims 4 questions

    Ok guys....

    So my girlfriend is a die hard Sims 4 player (we've created a group on FB for Sims 4 and it has almost 60k members, lol). Anyway, for the last two months her computer has been experiencing kernel panics when she is playing Sims and we're trying to troubleshoot why.

    She's contacted Apple Support several times and they've had her do a ton off different stuff:
    uninstall / reinstall sims, etc.

    Yesterday they told her anything over 70% CPU load will cause kernel panics and when they checked Sims 4 it was running at 170% and they told her that was the cause of the issue.

    Any ideas on what could really be going on or what we could try next?

    Help restarting app data for an alp

    Ok so I'm trying to clear app data for crossy road cuz I wanna restart it again lmao, but I've tried like everything and it isn't working. I've tried clearing it in iCloud storage but I can't, I tried turning off game center and stuff but that didn't work, and I tried logging out of iCloud then getting the game again then logging back in and it didn't work. So what do I do? It's not that big of a deal I just think it's fun to play crossy road when u have 0 characters so I'm trying to reset it.

    Recentish convert from Windows, and one thing is driving me nuts in Mac OS

    How to switch easily switch to a particular window of the same application from another app? I connect to two different RDPs, and have Chrome, Discord and other stuff running. The RDPs are also sometimes in Full Screen mode If I am in Chrome, and have to go to the inactive RDP session rather than the active, I have to right click on the RDP icon, and then select the main window and then go to the other one.

    Meanwhile all the icons that I never use are taking up valuable space at the bottom(I know I can remove them but the space can't be re-used for more useful things).

    I heard there are 3rd party paid apps for this, do I really need to pay for something that should be a basic OS option in 2020 like it's on Windows to show different application Windows in the task bar?

    Downgrade to a previous iMovie Version?

    Hi, I currently have a MBP 2018 on os 10.15.3.

    I accidentally updated my iMovie and now it won't open because my os is out of date. Is there any way I can downgrade to the previous version of iMovie? Or is the current os update safe/okay to download? Worried that the current os update will suck.

    AirPods constantly slowing down iPhone 11. Right when they connect my phone instantly becomes slower.

    Whenever I connect my AirPods to my iPhone 11 it slows down my phone a lot. Specifically when I try to access my control center it can take upwards of 5-10 seconds to come up. My phone is on the most current update. I've tried connecting the same AirPods to other iPhones and they work perfectly fine it's just mine. Does anyone have a fix for this?

    Storage upgrade for MacBook pro mid 2014

    Howdy :)
    I currently have a Mid-2014 Macbook pro. The only issue I am currently having is internal storage. My mac only has about 128 GB of storage. Which isn't enough. I am waiting to upgrade the internal amount of storage. My only issues are that how do I find the right internal SSD ( come after me if this isn't the correct term). I mean, I want a good one that isn't going to cost me issues. How do I know it will even work with this type of mac? Is it worth the upgrade? This is my first ever mac ( after eight long years of waiting) I would like to keep it. Are there any other upgrades that you recommend? I have the entry-level MacBook pro for that year. I also enjoy playing the sims and video edit from time to time.

    If I purchase an iTunes gift card from someone, I want to know if the following is possible:

    1) I check that the gift card loads onto my account and pay the person

    2) I use the balance to purchase a new iTunes gift card for gifting someone.

    The reason I have to go through these convoluted steps is that there is no way to check the card balance in advance (Canada) to make sure I don't get scammed, so other options to accomplish the same thing are appreciated.

    Reset to factory settings and Find My MacBook is not set up properly and won’t allow me to set it up, will I need to reset it again?

    I had to reset my MacBook tonight because it's the only way I can delete useless files off the laptop. My disk was 25gb free and it kept saying ssd low. My iCloud has 50gb and 40gb is free. So I deleted all files from computer and reset. I set up fresh nothing brought from last setup. Then it happened. When I set up iCloud I put in my email address that's linked to iCloud password all is grand until it comes to the Find My Device and it puts in my moms email address. I manage the email account for her, but 1. If I started fresh why did it bring up that email address. I only had it on my Mac not on my iPhone. So it just pulled it from thin air I guess. Then it wouldn't let me change it which I thought was crazy so I was like fine I'll change it later. Well later hasn't come.

    I have signed in and out of both iPhone and MacBook iCloud and have tried to use find my device from my MacBook to selection check mark. And it tells me to follow directions on my iPhone great I do it just comes up to don't allow or allow. Of course I select allow. Then it comes up to iCloud and says nothing else. I go to MacBook thinking ok this is it and select ok, and an error pops up says some kind of preference is incorrect. I assume the damn email address. How in the world do I change it. iCloud is my email address it's just this find my device is not my personal email address.

    I have quit for the night, pets were wanting to go to bed so I put it all up for the night, I'll get back on early in AM (am in Texas). Until then I can't give specifics on what it says. But if you may know how to fix it great please let me know.

    What's funny is I'm a network administrator in training (school) and Tuesday I'm going to an Apple Event for Consultants Network information lol. But we never learn Mac in my school only windows and Linux. I've just never had this issue before and I've now had 2 MacBooks, and have reset it a dozen times at least. Mainly for same issue. Definitely should have paid more to get bigger SSD will next time.
