    Apologies if this is common knowledge but I learned this the hard way. Spent 24 hours trying to boot the MBP from a USB containing Mojave. Ended up turning it in to the workshop and after 2 days of looking into it I was finally told that this just isn't possible.

    Macbook Pro running slow, got even slower when I tried to upgrade to Catalina!

    -Mid 2012 Macbook Pro with new SSD and 4GB extra RAM put in. Was running Mojave before update attempt.

    My computer started to run slow a few weeks ago. I could still use it but it would take longer to start up and to open everything, especially Microsoft Office. A bit later, I thought maybe upgrading to Catalina would help. It has been a shitshow doing that: network timing out, having to restart the download every time there's an issue, super long restarts, etc. I thought I finally had it settled, I downloaded the update and ran it, the usual 9 yards. Software Update is still offering me the upgrade as if nothing ever happened!

    Now, everything is slower and worse. Startup takes 5 minutes, Office won't even open half the time, Wake/Sleep times out, even opening a Finder window takes a couple of minutes.

    I have run First Aid a few times and got different messages every time. -"Spaceman cib out of order:26, expected 6. Space manager is invalid." -"Invalid dstream.default_cryto ID.... + "Underallocation on main device" -"Problems were found with the partition map which might prevent booting"

    Today there was a sleep/wake failure and it just didn't start, although it did on the second try.

    Is my hard drive just toast or is there anything I can do? I'm thinking the software update and these other issues are two different issues?

    As you can see, I can get my way around a computer but am far from an expert, so please be patient.

    Hi :) I got a bit of problem with iPhone 11 pro's battery

    I own an iPhone 11 pro that I got 3 months ago and, since then I've been using it normally ( playing games, watching videos, listening to music, and social media stuff ) and almost always I charged it once a day. I don't charge my phone over night and I usually use it till it drops to like 20 and then charge up to 90+ (Never to 100).

    So when I got my phone it obviously had 100% battery health. It kept on 100 until 10 days ago it dropped 1 per cent. and then another and another !! So right now it's at 97 and, I'm literally shocked, cause it dropped so many times and I got worried. Btw my ios was always up to date and when it dropped 3% it was at ios 13.3.1.

    I would be thankful if someone could comment and say if this is normal or should I be worried ? Thanks :)

    How to get autocorrect to activate with Enter as well as Space?

    Shorter version: Is there a way to fix this behavior? On my El Capitan device and an iPhone on iOS 12.4, just pressing enter as soon as the message is typed corrects the last word (as would pressing space, but that doesn't send it). On the Catalina device, I have to press space or wait for a second for autocorrect to give me the correction box before I can press Enter, otherwise I'll send a message with the last word misspelled.

    On the Messages app on a Macbook Pro 2013 on El Capitan, when I type 1 word or at the end of a sentence, when I pressed enter, autocorrect would activate. For instance, If I typed, "Intersting," or "This car is intersting," it would autocorrect when I pressed Enter to send. However, on a Macbook Pro 2015 on Catalina, this doesn't work, and the message sends as is. Pressing the space bar before Enter kicks in autocorrect, and I can send afterward. However, on El Capitan, pressing enter would activate the autocorrect. If I wait for a second after typing the sentence, then the autocorrect box will pop up, and then pressing Enter will send the message correctly. So I have to press space to get autocorrect to correct the word and then press Enter, or I have to wait for a second after typing my message for the autocorrect correction to pop up, then I can press enter.

    Unable to hear (or be heard) on iPhone 7 calls

    Last Tuesday my iPhone 7 stopped allowing me to hear (or be heard) on most phone calls. The speakerphone button was gray and would not let me select it. While troubleshooting with T-Mobile, I realized I could hear and be heard fine through my AirPods as well as through the Bluetooth in my car.

    I did a number of soft resets as well as a factory reset to try and resolve the issue. The next day, I did online chat support with Apple and she had me troubleshoot by trying to do a voice Memo which didn't work. I was advised this was a hardware issue and to take it in, so I made an appointment with an Apple certified store. I later found a random article saying this has happened to other people and to do a soft reset and hold the screen during the reboot in a specific spot (lower-ish right hand side). Low and behold, this made everything (speaker phone button, voice memo, etc) start working. It stopped again the next day but started working again later in the day and was fine after that.

    I still went in on Saturday even though my phone was no longer having the problem and the guy ran a diagnostics test on it and said there weren't any hardware issues and if it was working again not to worry about it. He said the best they could do would be to send it to Apple to look at if I was concerned about it.

    Well, it's not working again. Anyone encounter this? I am trying to avoid buying a new phone but also would like to be able to like, call 911 if I need to without telling an intruder to hang on while I find my AirPods. I don't have insurance on it any more through Apple or T-Mobile.

    MacBook Pro 13" 2019 is getting hot. It's my first time using it and it's abnormally hot. What to do?

    I bought a new MacBook Pro 13 inch and first of all, the battery was drained. It didn't want to turn on. My cousin bought the same one with less storage and hers was charged halfway.

    Regardless, I put it to charge and used an old Apple extension cord for the charging.

    Then it started getting hot. I contacted support and they blamed the extension cord. Ive disconnected the extension cord and am currently using the normal port and it's still hot!!!!!!! my software's updated but it's so hot and it annoys me because this is the NEWEST MacBook Pro. like why??????????? I heard the new 16" one has fans to solve this problem and I feel so dumb and pathetic for knowing that and still going for the 13" one.

    This was a mess but help .

    HELP! My Account Recovery Says It'll Take 13 Days To Reset My Password!!

    So I'll try to make this short.

    I forgot my passcode so I reset my phone and when it asked me to enter my apple id password, I realized I also forgot that too! (I had written it in my notes in my phone which I cannot access)

    I ended up having to start the account recovery process which said it'll take 24 hours until I could see what to do. (which my boss was not happy about since I couldn't answer her phone calls) The 24 hours are over and now it says that it'll take 13 days to reset my password!

    Yes, I've tried entering more info so it could speed up the process but it says that I have to enter my phone number so they can send me a code to verify which I cannot do! No, I don't have any other devices that're logged into my apple account. Yes, I also tried switching the sim cards with another iphone and tried resetting it there but it literally asked me to switch back to my original phone.

    Is there anything at all that I could do?! I cannot wait 13 days since I also need my phone for work!!

    Pages will not update on 2017 MacBook Pro

    It is not in my updates tab and I can only locate it through the search bar. Whenever I try to update it, it just gives me a spinning wheel, closes pages and then reopens in immediately without updating it. I am on a Macbook Pro 2017.
    Anyone know a workaround to fix this?

    No longer able to send emails from @me.com iCloud email address

    I'm having a really weird problem. I've used my @me.com email address for 9 years, ever since I got iCloud with my iPhone 4S way back in 2011.

    I was curious about something and I went and checked the Mail settings through the iCloud online portal, and now I've lost the ability to send from the @me.com address, and it has defaulted to the @icloud.com one. Apple Support is saying that this is a part the removal of the @me.com email accounts, but I haven't come across this anywhere! Any experiences would be appreciated! Are folks still able to send from their @me.com emails?

    Images tab in iMessage blank?

    Hello,

    So randomly today, all of my attachments and images for every conversation I have in iMessage disappeared. This is what it looks like for every group or contact in iMessage: https://imgur.com/a/JdipylK?desktop=1 I do not have iCloud syncing on. Also, if I scroll up, I can individually see the pictures in the conversation and access them no problem, but nothing shows up when I click info. I'm on the latest iOS (13.3.1) on an iPhone 11 Pro. I tried closing the app completely and then restarting the phone entirely, neither successful. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Having trouble logging in to “update settings ID.”

    This is annoying. I have iMac 2015 with the latest update installed And software but everyday I see update settings ID but when I try to login to iTunes Apple account it keeps wanting me to log in again and again. I enter the right password and all but still won't let me through any advice?.

    So, I'm on 10.15.1 on a new 2019 Macbook Pro and I've noticed that I'm not able to quick preview my word documents from school aka .docx files. Every other file seems to be working except this one, is there anyone I'm able to fix this?

    Duplicate Podcast Episodes That Can't Be Deleted?

    I know that Finder is the new place to sync my podcasts on my iPod Classic, but it doesn't seem best-equipped to do so. For example, these screencaps show that there are duplicates of the podcast. In Podcasts, this isn't the case. In fact, the second picture shows three episodes (each duplicated, for a total of six) that have been deleted from the library through Podcasts, yet they continue to show up in Finder like this. Am I doing something wrong? Is this a flaw in Apple's new way of doing podcasts/music? Am I the only one taking crazy pills?

    I have an Iphone 5s which I mistakely submerged into the ocean on 2015. I got the phone repaired but I have not been able to remember the passcode. After sever tries I have 1 try left after that my phone is going to be locked and erased. I am very worried because I have lots of memory in the phone of my girlfriend who tragixally passed away few years back . I have no back up on the cloud. It might sound like I am some guy who stole a phone and trying to hack into it but no. I can provide the phone details which can verify that its my phone. Please help Reddit.

    Mac(book) app--PDF Expert--seems to have installed itself - need help understanding this

    So I went to open a PDF today on my Mac(Book Pro 2015, running Catalina, if it matters) and it opened, by default, in an app called PDF Expert--an app that is not connected to a developer I have ever downloaded anything from, and one I absolutely do not remember installing. I would chalk it up to something I just didn't remember doing a while back, except:

    1. It looks like the app was only installed about 6 weeks ago, so I would definitely remember deciding to download it.
    2. I always research apps before downloading them if they're coming from a third party developer I'm not familiar with (Apple, Adobe, etc.)--and I had never even heard of this app.
    3. I have an Adobe CC subscription, and have always been able to take care of my PDF needs with Acrobat and/or Preview, so I can't imagine why I would have gone looking for something else.
    4. The time stamp for when it was created says it was installed at 4:15am on a morning I am certain, based on my calendar, I would have been sound asleep. And 99% of the time, I close my screen with a clamshell closure, and disconnect it from my monitor, at the end of the day. No, I am not known to sleep walk nor do I take ambien.
    5. It is the only PDF activity on my computer when sorting by created, modified, and last opened date, as far as I can tell by searching "pdf" in the finder, within two weeks of the date it was installed/created. (I don't deal with a lot of pdfs.). I also did not receive a warning about opening a downloaded or third party app when I went to open the PDF.
    6. Looking at the app store, it looks like it's a paid app. I have no charges for it either in my apple account or any of my cards/financial accounts. And it's not prompting me to upgrade or purchase.

    I am so stumped as to how it got on my computer. Does anyone else have a similar experience with this app (or with another app). I thought things like this were pretty much impossible on a Mac, so I just don't know what to make of it. Should I be looking for a way to look at logs? Could there be another explanation? What is the safest way to uninstall it assuming it represents some sort of malware? Kinda buggin' about it. Any help would be appreciated.

    My AirPods case no longer charges after being put through the wash

    So one day I left my AirPods case in the wash and after I took it out the case wouldn't charge anymore. The AirPods themselves charge perfectly fine, but the case doesn't. Does anyone have a fix for this?
