iPad Drawing Apps - Battery Performance Comparison Posted: 21 Feb 2020 09:30 AM PST I've been drawing with an Apple Pencil on a 2019 iPad with Procreate and notice that the iPad gets pretty warm after half an hour of drawing and the battery drains quickly. Is there any research out there to compare different drawing apps and their battery usage? Procreate has a full feature set that I appreciate, but if I want to do more simple sketches (still more complex than default notes app) would a more lightweight app consume less battery and run the ipad cooler? Any recommended apps? [link] [comments]
Anyone else hoping for an updated iPad mini this March ? Posted: 21 Feb 2020 10:19 AM PST The iPad mini is great for just throwing in my bag and carrying it around as a student. It's barely noticeable in size and weight and I use it ~5hours a day to study. I'm on the mini 4, and I'm hoping March will bring an updated design for the mini. I'm talking less bezels, no more physical home button, and (I might be dreaming) usb-c. How likely do you think we'll get a new mini this year? Wishes? Realistic predictions ? [link] [comments]
Switched to Goodnotes 5 from Notability.. Some pros and cons I noticed Posted: 20 Feb 2020 06:17 PM PST I used notability for a good two years. I recently made the switch to GN5, and I mean really switched. I imported all my notability files as pdf's. No going back now. Pro's of GN5 over Notability: -Inking that I so far prefer over Notability. While I really like Notability's ink, GN5 seems closer to the native iOS notes ink. -Superior organization, file structure, folders within folders etc -The app just looks better. Like a more advanced, professional app. -Shape tool does not needlessly snap onto every damn thing.. This is actually the reason i left notability. I am an electrical engineering student with a need to draw lines where I want them. I cannot have an app dictate my decisions. Cons: -Shape tool is worse than notability, aside from the good fact that it doesn't snap to things. Drawing short, straight lines is inconsistent... I guess i'll take it for now. I do wish they'd improve it. Hell i'd take the system MS PAINT has had for 30+ years over this. -Images are poorly optimized. When scrolling through documents images and backgrounds often disappear and reappear as they load.. Notability never did this. -Copying and pasting things is inferior to notability. It is a slower, clunkier system, as you must first screenshot, then paste, which on ipadOS takes around 2-3 seconds. Notability is easy, copy, paste, simple. You can copy anything on notability. In fact, copying a selection from a different note, then pasting into another does not always work, unless you screenshot. -You cannot drag an image, or ANYTHING for that matter, from one page to the next in the same notebook... What the actual f- -Selection tool lacks a shape option
-No gif support -Pages will ZOOM OUT WHEN MULTITASKING BETWEEN NOTEBOOKS. Omg this is annoying. -Imported PDF'S will have a preset page size which might be bigger than you like. This cannot be changed as far as I know. So if you add your own pages to a pdf, they will be very awkwardly smaller than the pdf pages.. Making the zoom out issue even more enraging. -GN5 Seems to use magnitudes more storage than notability. I'm talking 10-15x more. I'm already at 1.85gb docs and data when notability never went above 500mb If you don't care for the superior file system and organization, or you don't prefer the ink, i'd say go notability. There is no other reason. [link] [comments]
Thinking about buying a iPad Pro (largest size) Posted: 21 Feb 2020 12:25 PM PST Do you think that the Apple brand keyboard and case is worth the price? I really want to have a keyboard with the IPad as I would be using the iPad for note taking and all however the price is a bit steep. Let me know if you think it's worth the price. Thank you. Can’t change font size in Apple Notes using Keyboard Shortcuts? Posted: 21 Feb 2020 01:09 PM PST I have been using Apple notes on my iPad Pro for several months now for document creation. I have been using the Command +/- shortcut to change font sizes, but for some reason, that doesn't seem to be working anymore. Any ideas/solutions? [link] [comments]

Android <-> iPadOS file transfer Posted: 21 Feb 2020 08:17 AM PST Hello there My phone is an Android phone and my iPad is an mini 5 Sometimes I want to transfer files from my Android device to my iPad and... It's difficult to do Between iDevices there is AirDrop Between Android/PC there is Bluetooth But why there is no possible way between all ? There is Files app for sharing faster between Android devices but the app is not available in the App Store, but it would be so great to sharing files between Android and iOS... How do you do to share files between iOS and Android? [link] [comments]
what are some concerns in buying a refurbished ipad (from apple)? Posted: 21 Feb 2020 03:34 AM PST I have been stuck between buying a budget iPad for it's size and a iPad mini 5 for the internals but now i'm also considering buying a refurbished iPad air 3 since it's exactly what I need but I don't have the money to buy it new. It seems almost too good to be true.. would there be any signs of wear at all or is everything renewed? I'd definitely buy it through the apple website since I don't trust anything else. McDonald’s embracing the iPad..rumor Posted: 20 Feb 2020 04:30 PM PST The Golden Arches have their annual Franchise conference coming up, and Apple is hosting the owners one night. According to the person I spoke that is going, Apple is making a big push to enter the iPad into the point of sale space and McDonalds is a top prospect. McDonald's is pushing a large mandatory upgrade to push their restaurants into a more modern look. [link] [comments]
Bluetooth connectivity and iPadOS Posted: 20 Feb 2020 09:22 PM PST I have an iPad mini 4 and I often use two different bluetooth keyboards: Microsoft's Universal Keyboard, and a Bluetooth 3.0 Keyboard. Prior to the advent of iPadOS I could wake up my tablet by simply turning on the paired keyboard, pressing any key, then inputting my code. Now, I need to press the Home or Power button on the iPad to wake it up, and then go through the same process described earlier to use a Bluetooth keyboard. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? [link] [comments]
