Posted: 26 Feb 2020 03:40 AM PST I've had my current Pro Max for almost 2 months now, and I have noticed that already, it is significantly more dull than my dad's space black X or my mum's Gold XS all due to micro scratches, and while I usually keep my phone in a case, I like to take it out from time to time. I did a little reading on Apples website and found that unlike the coloured steels, the silver does not have a coating on it that resists scratches. Note: this will not work well on deep scratches, only very light abrasions will be removed. What you will need: Stainless steel cleaner/polish (usually used for kitchens). Any kind that polishes will do. Disposable paper towels for applying the polish and wiping it off after to check on progress. A drill (you will be there for a long time if you do it by hand) A polishing ball (you can find these in the detailing section of any car store for a few bucks) What to do: First, prepare your device and have all your materials ready. Clean off where your working, and ensure that your device, polishing ball, and towels are clean and free from any dirt. Spray a small amount of polish into the paper towel, and apply the polish onto one side of the device that you will be working on. Its okay to get some on the glass, it shouldn't scratch it. Slowly at first, use the drill with polishing cone and go along the side of the device. I recommend doing this over a soft area incase you drop it or it gets flung out of your hands by the drill. Gradually speed up the drill until you are at a comfortable speed. Slowly move your way across the area of the frame, and remove it every so often to check for heat. You don't want the frame to get too hot. Continue polishing until a black streak begins to form on the ball. When it does, wipe down the polished area until shiny, and check on the scratches. Continue polishing until you are satisfied with the glossiness. Repeat on all four sides until satisfied. You should now have an extra shiny device that looks good as new! For iPhone 11 users, you can also use this trick on the rear three camera lenses to give them new life. Do not do this for aluminium devices. you'll just destroy how it looks. Feel free to ask any questions :) [link] [comments] |
