After years of waiting for a decent app price tracker for my iPhone I finally decided to make my own. It's called AppRaven you can watch daily updated list of apps on sale, add apps to wish list, get push notifications on price drops, create collections and much more. Would appreciate any feedback!

If Apple were to release an update to the 4.7” and 5.5” lineup in 2020, would you buy it?

Why exactly did Apple ditch 3D Touch?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 02:36 PM PST

I just can't seem to understand this choice.

I loved 3D Touch, it worked faster in many ways. I just can't seem to understand why they removed it. It feels like a step back.

    Is there any particular reason?

Edit: After reading the reasons, I must say having a better battery life is obviously worth more than the 3D Touch. Though I still have to get used to it, I will definitely miss it. You can say what you want to say but it was something unique and as far as I know, only Apple had it. With that said, let's enjoy the better battery.

Turning my old iPhone 6 16GB into an iPod. Will deleting the photos delete them from my iPhone 7 Plus as well?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 12:47 PM PST

I'm totally not tech savvy and could use your input here. I want to delete everything possible from the iPhone 6 and ONLY use it to listen to my iTunes music library and a few podcasts. I have deleted every app and am left with these icons on my screen: Messages, Photos, Camera, Settings, Calculator, Clock, Extras, Health, Wallet, App Store, iTunes and Podcast Player. Only the last 2 can be deleted. There are a ton of pictures (13.5GB) using up space. I'm unclear how to delete these photos from the iPhone 6 yet leave them on the iPhone 7 Plus. Surely I'm making this more difficult that it is.

Long time Android user that switched from a pixel 3xl to Iphone 11. Here are some of my thoughts so far and still deciding if I am gonna stay with it.

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 07:04 AM PST

Happy New year all. I got a great deal on trading in a old Iphone 7 I had laying around and got 500 bucks towards an 11 so I said what the hell thats a great deal. I still kept my pixel 3Xl and figured i would give this a shot. I never used IOS as a daily driver before only used it with my ipad. I am going to list my positives and negatives so far.

    Positives.

    • This phone is super fast and very fluid. Apps as well as games run super fast. Zero lag or hiccups.

    • Face ID so far as been great with this. I am a hat guy and have different baseball as well as winter hats and it has not missed a beat.

    • Video is by the far the best video I have ever taking with a smart phone. Zooming in and out there is no choppiness and the sound is fantastic. Just the over all experience is great.

    • Build quilty is nice on this phone. It feel really nice in my hand and it really has a premium feel. You deff get what you pay for.

    • Apple watch. My son had his old series 1 watch laying around and i hooked it up. Even though it is older i really like this watch more so then my fitbit versa. If i stick with the phone I will deff be getting at least a 4.

    • Buying cases, screen protectors and other stuff is so much more easier then any android phone. I mean I can buy a case at the corner store down the road if I need too.

    • I really enjoy playing with the shortcuts. I have been doing some fun stuff with them so far.

    My Cons

    • Always on Display. I really miss it. I know its kind of a dumb feature but I could see the time as well as if I had any texts or missed calls.

    • Call Screening. Its only a google feature but It it got rid of a lot a crap calls i did not want to take.

    • App draw and weather on my home screen. I just miss a clean display. Not a big fan of all the icons on my screen. IOS just seems very messy and all over the place.

    • This is a big one for me. The keyboard. I do not like apple in screen keyboard for sending txt, social media Etc. IT drives me nuts, It is very small and there is no touch haptics when i press and number or letter. To be honest if any thing gets me to go back to my pixel 3xl its this.

    • The camera is still better on my pixel 3xl when it comes to certain things.

Tomorrow will be be a week since using the 11 and I figured i would make a choice soon. Here is the thing though, my 15 yr old son will be making out in this deal. what ever phone I choose to use he will get the other one. He is using a oneplus 3t right now and still a fast phone but the batter is crap. Besides missing some stuff and really not liking the keyboard my experience has been great so far. Gonna be a hard choice but Going to make it soon.

    What are your favorite shortcuts?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 11:35 AM PST

I really like the shortcuts app and wish I would've used it before I decided to get through the learning curve. I currently just use:

Directions to home, Laundry timer, Calculate tip, Work alarm/weekend alarm, Word of the day

    Smart Battery Case drain question

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 02:44 PM PST

Hopefully a simple question. I have a smart battery case for my iPhone X. Should the case be draining first or the phone? I'm finding my phone drains first and then it turns off completely and I have to wait for it to turn back on. Seems like the case should drain first in my opinion.

Are the X and 11 as slippery as some say due to the glass backs ? What about the XR ?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 02:32 PM PST

I had an S5 before that has a plastic matte finish back and it was super comfortable to use. I never put a case on it. I'd like to use the iPhone without a case too if possible and I'm undering how slippery it actually is.

When to charge the iPhone 11...?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 02:39 PM PST

A friend of mine was having trouble with her new iPhone 11 battery and went to Apple. They told her to optimize battery life you should charge your phone between 20-30%. How is that so? Anyone have any thoughts or advice? I just got the new 11 and really want to take good care of my battery.

    AppleCare screen replacement?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 11:20 AM PST

So I'm the type of guy that never had a case or screen protector, and followed the trend when I switched to iPhone. I noticed already they have weaker screens as I have several scratched on my screen already. I have 22 days left to sign up for AppleCare and was wondering what the process is for the $29 screen replacement? Is it done same day in an Apple store or so I have to ship it in? It's an 11 Pro Max if that matters.

Just trying to figure out the logistics because once I get this fixed I'll be buying a screen protector and case for my phone.

Backup/wipe/restore iPhone 7 using iCloud - can anything go wrong?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 01:25 PM PST

I'm probably going to need to "factory wipe" my iPhone, and was thinking about backing up to iCloud beforehand and then restoring after. It looks like my iPhone is backing up daily to iCloud anyway and it only takes half of my free 5GB allowance, since I have no photos or videos.

My question is: does this usually result in everything working exactly the way it did post-restore, or are there things that commonly go wrong? (like preferences or data being lost in certain apps?) And if yes to the latter, are there any precautions I should take ahead of time?

Sorry that's a bit general but I've never done this before and would appreciate any pointers.

Looking for a protective wallet case for iPhone 8?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 08:09 AM PST

I've been looking for a slim, protective case for my phone that also doubles as a wallet. I saw the otterbox strada but it only holds 1 card; I would prefer 2 or 3 at least. I want a case that if I drop my phone it won't crack

Getting the 11 pro max soon and in need of a case

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 12:26 PM PST

I am getting the 11 pro max next month and I'm going to need a case for it. I want to get a Dragon ball z case for it that's good quality. Does anybody know if a good website for that? I already tried to look in Amazon and eBay and nothing in good quality or that looks good shows up on there.

Anyone have issues with passcode login? I’m just nervous to use it again

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 04:04 PM PST

I haven't used a passcode since a couple years ago somehow at work my phone in my pocket inputted the wrong code through the day for hours - ended up permanently locking me out of my phone and I had to spend hours that night trying to reset the phone through a backup on ITunes (my computer is trash).

I don't want to have the same issue lmao but I just got a new IPhone and want to put my card on wallet but it requires Touch ID/Passcode. I love Touch ID I just am worried something will happen again like last time.

Is that okay to use a 10W charger or above for the iPhone?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 03:55 PM PST

My cousin has a brand new iPhone 7 and he's complaining about the 5W charger that comes in the box. So he's planning to get a 10W charger or QC certified charger if the phone is compatible. Is that safe? What's the limit of current voltage of the iPhone 7?

    Moving pics

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 11:39 AM PST

This probably seems like some basic question but how would I move some vacation pics to a flash drive without using some sketchy app? Or if I have to use an app, which one is actually good?

We had all taken a few so I figured it'd be cool for us to be able to put all our pics on a drive but so far all I get when I search it up is to use an app so any help you all can offer would be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

Can you transfer photos to an external hard drive with a computer?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 10:31 AM PST

My laptop has finally given up the ghost and I'm trying to decide if I want to replace it or not. The only thing I have used it for in the past year is as a conduit for transferring photos from my phone to an external hard drive. Is there a way to do this without the computer? I don't really want to spend $200+ just to be able to back up photos, surely there is a way to directly move photos from the phone to an external hard drive right?

I honestly believe Apple was always wrong to choose the notch design. Let’s hope it’s truly gone in 2020.
