Looking for an app that passively displays information Posted: 03 Jan 2020 08:10 AM PST I'm trying to find an app for my iPad (2018) that will allow me to passively look at headlines, stock market charts, weather, etc.. I work in an office and the iPad is there for note taking, but I rarely use it for that. I'd like it to be a passive second screen that displays information relevant to me. Any ideas? "Chromatic aberration"/colour fringing effect on Ipad Mini 5 screen Posted: 03 Jan 2020 02:15 AM PST I tried googling this but was only able to find posts about photo editing. I just got an Ipad Mini 5, my first ever Apple mobile device after previously only using Android devices. I was interested to see the much-ballyhooed retina display; after using it for two days I'm unpleasently surprised, but I can't tell whether it's an issue inherent to the display or if something's wrong with mine. Basically, there's an odd visual effect on the screen, most noticeable on the edges of images and text, especially in areas of high contrast. The closest thing I can compare it to is the chromatic aberration you get in some photos as seen here, although it's not nearly as extreme as in that example. It's a sort of colour banding where there's red and blue along sharp edges. When viewing a white screen like a website background there's also a blue line around the edges of the display, similar to IPS screen bleed but more pronounced. Because of all of this, brighter-coloured images and video look very poor on the screen, especially if there's a lot of colours in a single frame or there's high contrast. This isn't a trivial issue for me as I have a neurological condition, and looking at the Ipad for two long is giving me migraines in a way none of the other mobile devices or displays I use do. Using night shift and turning down the white point (great accessibility feature by the way, all mobile devices should have it) helps a bit, but not enough to make the display tolerable. I used a display model in a shop prior to ordering my Mini 5 and don't recall noticing this effect, and I can't find anyone online talking about it. It's so noticeable that I'm extremely surprised no reviews bring it up, which is why I'm starting to think my ipad has an issue. Has anyone else had this problem with their Ipad? What’s on your wish list for iPadOS 14? Posted: 02 Jan 2020 07:56 PM PST Mine -Give us a rhyme or reason to the multitasking. Go back to the drawing board. -Give the contacts app the Reminders type update. Eliminate duplicate contacts if there is a god -share sheet is a nightmare. I like options but jeez -Just give us true mouse support -last but not least Xcode on the iPad [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Jan 2020 06:26 AM PST I'm not sure that this is the right forum for the question but ... I would like to type better. In all my years (I am not young!) I have never learned touch typing. But my new iPad Pro and Smart Keyboard beg for learning. I have used Mavis Beacon in the past (a long time ago) and never kept up, this time I'll try to complete something! Maybe a New Years Resolution? If there is a better place to ask this then please let me know. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Jan 2020 11:29 AM PST Does anyone have a good recommendation for a keyboard case for the 7th gen iPad with Apple Pencil holder? Ideally not Apple's Smart Keyboard as it is extremely expensive. [link] [comments]
Any suggestions for a screen protector that resembles paper? Posted: 03 Jan 2020 11:14 AM PST I got a paper like screen protector (sold by Axion on Amazon) and it was terrible. It was so hard to apply and had bubbles, despite me very carefully applying it with a card to smooth it out. And then the screen seemed fuzzy. But I enjoyed writing on it. It really felt nice. I am in college and I use my iPad for notes. So my question is: has anyone found a good screen protector that resembles paper? [link] [comments]
Any good backpacks for someone who’s just bringing their trusty iPad Pro and pencil to school??? Posted: 02 Jan 2020 03:25 PM PST I wanna get a new backpack because the one I have is super old and has a slot for a 15" laptop. I'd like to get something on the smaller side that can be a good carrying case for my iPad. Let me know if you have any recommendations!!! [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Jan 2020 10:51 AM PST I have an old iPad mini and I was just watching YouTube while it was charging and it shocked and burned me! My iPad has a metal frame. The frame shocked me. Edit: I want to know if this is something I should be worried about. The iPad has nothing on it [link] [comments]
Animated Background on Keynote with iPad Posted: 03 Jan 2020 09:51 AM PST I've searched and searched and can't find a simple way to animate my backgrounds on Keynote by using my iPad. Can someone send me in the right direction? Thanks! [link] [comments]
How to integrate iPad into my day to day? Posted: 02 Jan 2020 07:39 PM PST I have an iPad Pro + Pencil from work — I run the outbound domestic logistics for a manufacturer/ importer. I'm fairly integrated in the Mac universe - a personal iPhone, Apple Watch, and revamped MacBook Pro. My work also provides me with a Lenovo laptop, as remoting in requires NetExtender and our ERP only runs through Windows. I really want to make my iPad useful, but I'm struggling. I take a lot of notes and use a spiral notebook, so I see a potential use for my iPad there (although my paper notebook is much more convenient). Does anyone have any advice on how I can or examples of how you plug another device into your day to day? Edit: replaced 'tempting' with 'remoting'. Autocorrect is the worst. [link] [comments]
Question about importing photos from SD Card and "other" storage Posted: 02 Jan 2020 08:00 PM PST I am importing photos from an SD Card (jpg files from a sony a7iii). I have icloud photos turned on, but when I import photos, those photos stay on the device adding to my storage. Is there a way to have them upload to icloud but not stay on my device? In my storage, I have 8gb of other, I have cleared the safari history and cache, but that didn't change anything, can't seem to find anything else it could be, would love to delete it, any suggestions? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
