Can’t sign into an older version of iTunes on Windows. Posted: 02 Jan 2020 03:51 PM PST I installed an older version of iTunes (12.0.1.26) on my Windows 10 PC, I tried signing into my account (but I have two-factor authentication on) with my email and password, it didn't work, so I tried again with my email, password, and a verification code in the same box as my password, but that didn't work. I believe the error is called (-50). [link] [comments] |

Unable to boot a 2006 Mac Pro from USB Posted: 02 Jan 2020 09:55 PM PST I know this sounds incredibly basic, but right now my problem is as basic as my Mac not recognizing my pendrive. I converted the iso to a dmg and set up my thumb drive with dd as described here. It's the Debian 10.1 amd64 Net Installer in case it might be of relevance. My computer is a Mac Pro 1,1 on Lion with the stock 7300gt and all HDD bays populated. Removing the other drives didn't change my luck. [link] [comments] |

2015 MacBook Air: Keychains Folder Space Posted: 02 Jan 2020 09:49 PM PST Hi all, My Keychains folder, located at Macintosh HD/Users/[username]/Library/Keychains, is currently taking up 17.4 GB of space on my 2015 Macbook Air running El Capitan. I'm running very low on drive space overall, so if I delete this folder will there be any consequences besides losing automatically entered passwords on the webpages I visit? Thanks. Lightning to USB camera adapter not working Posted: 02 Jan 2020 08:28 PM PST iPhone 6s on the latest iOS (13.3.3) and I've had my adapter for 2 years maybe? Usually when I connect them, the imports tab in the photo app comes up immediately and then I select what photos/videos I want to import. However now I go into the photos app manually and the imports tab says "no photos to import"?? My camera settings haven't changed. A couple months ago, the photos would show up if I waited like 2 minutes but I couldn't import them. Now even that doesn't happen so I'm at a loss! Could it be something to do with the fact Apple revamped the photos app for iOS13?? I can't use iTunes so this was the most convenient way to transfer my camera data to my iPhone :/ [link] [comments] |
[Help!] iPhone 8 Sustained Water Damage Posted: 02 Jan 2020 08:21 PM PST As mentioned in the title, my iPhone 8 sustained water damage. It was yesterday and I was dumb enough to let the faucet run down an opening from the broken back glass of the phone for some reason .When I do "wash" it I tend to put a dab of water then whipping it . I regularly do this to get dirt off of. However before that, part of the bottom right back glass shattered (as shown in the picture) and created an opening. I don't know why but I poured water down there for a couple seconds or perhaps maybe one. Afterwards my phone definitely showed some damage to the screen however I didn't care as much. I forgot when but later my phone turns off showing the apple logo. So I try to charge it, big mistake on my part. Some time later I went to do some things to celebrate 2020 and left my phone in the car unplugged. Later on while I get home my phone turns on with one percent. I go upstairs and charge it. It does charge. Then I take it to the shower with the screen pointing towards me and the corners touching the wall watching YouTube, it works fine. Later while laying in bed looking at news articles my phone screen turns about 95% black then turns off. Ever since I was not able to get it back on. I was considering getting it repaired however I wonder if its too late. Do you think its able to be repaired or it has permanently broke? All the damages I have to the phone are, shattered back glass, water damage, scratched screen, scratched both camera lenses , and will not turn on. Keep in mind I have also plugged the phone in. https://i.postimg.cc/ZRX9tLHN/FE505-AC4-0-F86-4-E40-B424-152-A72-B1-AF66.jpg [link] [comments] |

Elevation on Compass App from Altimeter or Location? Posted: 02 Jan 2020 08:00 PM PST I'm not sure how the iPhone (and Apple Watch) measures the elevation. I went up a very tall building and the elevation stayed the same. Is it based on the altimeter or the geographic location? [link] [comments] |
A question for apple gift cards Posted: 02 Jan 2020 04:13 PM PST Hello redditors. I recently received some apple gift cards and was wondering about them. I don't really have many apps that I want to spend money on in the apple store so I was wondering. If I download say he amazon app. Can I use the money in my Apple ID if I was to redeem the card as payment on Amazon? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Jan 2020 07:56 PM PST Seriously, I'm mostly interested because I only looked it up because I was in the middle of explaining to her how crappy my phone's battery has been recently, and how "my phone jumped from 79% to 81%, where it's remained , after resetting it last week, but the battery is still absolute garbage," and I wanted to use hers as an example - specifically to contrast my phone, because I remembered it was like 97% when I looked it up last Spring!. Had complete opposite of the intended effect...
Here's only (helpful) details/info I can provide/think of at moment, considering it's her phone: - She doesn't appear to have ever allowed her phone to run out of batteries/no unexpected shutdowns. - Her software is up to date (but she still has that badge in her Settings, telling her to "finish setting up your iPhone" (that asks you to set up Apple Pay, Touch ID etc.). - She has 20-30 different apps open/ in the background at all times, including 1-30 Safari tabs. She said she closes all of them before she goes to bed, but I don't really believe her. [link] [comments] |
iPhone 7 battery replacement at Apple Store Posted: 02 Jan 2020 04:08 PM PST I took my iPhone 7 to the Apple store to get a new battery as the max capacity was showing 80% and the battery life was getting pretty bad. Picked it up this afternoon and noticed on the bus home that the battery is still terrible and in settings it's still showing 80% max capacity and recommending I get a replacement battery. Does this take a wile to recognise the new battery or have I just paid £49 for them to do nothing? (I'm going back tomorrow afternoon to speak to them about it but I just want to make sure I'm not being premature in my reaction. Did a full reset too and still the same) [link] [comments] |
Question about exchanging my 11 Pro that was paid with trade in + giftcard Posted: 02 Jan 2020 07:54 PM PST I bought a 11 Pro yesterday trading in my Iphone X ($400) and using a $200 giftcard, and am now kinda having second thoughts as I think I want the max instead. Would there be any issues bringing this in store to essentially just pay the difference in cost for the pro vs. pro max? I'm still under the 14 day refund period. [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro refuses to charge and/turn on Posted: 02 Jan 2020 07:36 PM PST Preface: My MacBook will do this thing— when it's at low battery, sometimes it'll get very slow. Also, when I plug in the charger, I need to take it out and replug it in for it to actually charge, otherwise it will stay at like 1% forever. My MacBook was at low battery so I plugged in the charger, but the battery kept draining, even after replugging. Then it started to get slow. I held down the power button in attempt to restart it, but it just shutdown/went black. Whenever I tried to turn it back on, it would just show me the charging low battery symbol on a black screen. Now, nothing is happening and I don't know what to do. Charger isn't broken, I checked. [link] [comments] |
Editing a document in Preview, everything flips sideways Posted: 02 Jan 2020 07:27 PM PST I'm trying to fill out a PDF for a job, and I'm using Preview to do so. I add text boxes, fill the entire thing out, and then save and close. Once I go to reopen it again, Ann the text boxes flip to the right as if it saved in landscape mode. Anyone know how to fix this? Messages app repeatedly glitching and losing messages Posted: 02 Jan 2020 11:40 AM PST It's happened three times now exactly the same way. I believe it started after I updated to iOS 13.3. This is an iPhone XS, 512 GB. I have over 300 GB of free space on the phone. What happens as I go into the Messages app and none of my messages are there. I actually have tons and tons of messages on my phone, basically 10 years worth. But in the app it just looks like a brand new phone with no messages at all. If I text someone, the whole thread comes back. So hypothetically I could restore the whole list by just texting everybody one person at a time and the threads will come back, but of course that's not feasible. The messages are not deleted off my phone – according to the Settings app I have about 2 GB of space taken up by messages. It turns out that a hard reset pretty much fixes it. Up down power, wait 30 seconds, passcode, re-open messages, and all of my messages are back. This has now happened three times over the course of the past month. It's no longer as alarming to me because I now know that resetting the phone will get the messages back, but it's still very annoying. I called Applecare each time it happened and they can't figure out why it's happening. Rebooting the phone is a perfectly fine workaround, so it's not a totally critical issue, but it is disruptive to my day when it happens. I'm trying to figure out what could possibly be causing this. I think it might be noteworthy that the phone was connected to CarPlay every time this happened so far. I've had a lot of other strange glitches with CarPlay, which have happened not only in my own car but in rental cars as well. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? [link] [comments] |

Should i buy on amazon or Apple store? Posted: 02 Jan 2020 06:25 PM PST Hello there! I was planning to buy an iPhone 8 for 450 bucks on the Apple Store but saw that Amazon sells the XR at the same price tag (renewed/refurbished versions). I never bought anything through amazon, and saw that some people had problems with their iPhone when they bought it in Amazon. So, should i buy in the Apple store or get a better iPhone in Amazon and take the risks? I'd really appreciate if you could tell your experience with Amazon specially if you bought an iPhone. Running Catalina on brand new 2019 MacBook Pro drains the battery within an hour Posted: 02 Jan 2020 06:21 PM PST Hi all! Sorry if there is a post about this already but... I recently bought a brand new 2019 MacBook Pro to which I updated to Catalina. I have done no other changes and installed nothing else but the battery drains in about 1 hour. It even loses significant battery when asleep. However, when I downgrade back to the previous OSX the battery is fine and lasts 8+ hours, losing almost no % while asleep. Has anybody had this issue? Or could anybody explain what's going on and possibly provide me with a fix? I just want to know what's going on, it's severely disappointing! [link] [comments] |
