Switched to IPhone 11 Pro Max from a Galaxy Note 8. My thoughts so far Posted: 31 Dec 2019 08:40 AM PST So I owned a Galaxy Note 8 for a little over 2 years before I got my new, green, 64 GB iPhone 11 Pro Max. That phone was amazing, it never once slowed down and the screen was stunning. My main issue with it was it's battery life, as the Note 8 had a small battery to start, and obviously over time it got worse. My main motivation for the iPhone was the display, the battery, and the longevity. When I got my phone I immediately fell in love. The color is amazing, the screen is stunning, and it is so buttery smooth. The camera is also out of this world, but everyone knows that. Though my Note 8 had a curved OLED display, which was stunning, I still find the iPhone's display to be better. It seems warmer (with True Tone off) and the colors are much more accurate. It is much brighter too. Also the flat edges make the phone much easier to use without accidental touches and seem to make the screen look much more even, as the colors don't shift over the edge. The battery life is insane, which is well known for the Pro Max. As for android vs IOS, I'm not going to go there. I had an iPhone 5c back in the day so I had an iTunes account and a bunch of data stored on it, so the switch was basically seamless. I am fine with the simpler layout of IOS as I get my apps set up where I want them and that's how they will stay until I get a new phone. I missed iMessage so much, it is such a better way to text. Much better than SMS on android. Issues: Firstly, and most importantly, Bluetooth. I have a pair of Sony WF-1000xm3 wireless earbuds, which sounded absolutely AMAZING on my Note 8 and my laptop. Shortly after getting my iPhone I connected them and instantly noticed the audio quality was trash. I had my sound quality turned to max on Spotify and even tried YouTube and iTunes, all with the same result. The audio would sound clear for a few seconds and then it would get really nasty and start popping and it was horrible. Tried restarting my phone and everything, to no avail. Yesterday I updated my phone to IOS 13.3, and thought that would fix the issue. When I tested it, the audio no longer switched between clear and nasty, it was just always nasty. I put it off thinking it was something with the earbuds software. This morning I tried connecting the phone to my Samsung sound bar, and the same thing happened. Same with in our Honda Pilot. It seems to be a software issue and it deeply angers me that a brand new $1100 phone has worse sounding Bluetooth audio than my 2 year old Samsung. Second, the glitches and random slowdowns. I use iMessages frequently and play a lot of games with it. I have noticed that whenever I get into iMessage to begin playing a game I almost always have to restart the app to get the game to load. It might be an issue with the game, though. Also, I notice dropped frames a lot when opening apps. I'm just being nit picky at this point but I still notice them. Overall the glitches don't really matter but the Bluetooth does. My Note 8 was flawless for the 2 years I owned it and yet I already have a major software issue with the IPhone. Bad luck? Possibly. Hopefully they resolve it soon, because otherwise this phone is near perfect. Thanks for reading! I thought this could be useful for anyone who is debating switching or just getting the Pro Max in general, as this would have been helpful for me too. [link] [comments] | ||
