[Release] NFCUnblock - Unblock NFC Shortcuts Automation for iOS 13! (iPhone 7 or newer device required)

    Posted: 05 Dec 2019 05:56 PM PST

[Release] NFCUnblock - Unblock NFC Shortcuts Automation for iOS 13! (iPhone 7 or newer device required)

Updated: download the updated v0.0.2 version if the background tags reading not working properly on your device. Now the packages had been split into two packages in the zip file, please install them both.

    Hi everyone!

Introducing NFCUnblock, the open source tweak that unblocks the NFC automation in iOS 13 Shortcuts app for old iPhones, with support of background NFC reading! Download deb files here to install manually, you can find the source code here (NOT Cydia source repo).

You can install the prebuilt .deb using Filza or you could build it yourself using theos. Many thanks to @arandomdev for his great projects NFCShortcuts & NFCBackground for iOS 12. He inspired me, and yes, after several work I managed to unlock the Shortcuts' builtin NFC automation feature!

This tweak works on iOS 13 only, I have only tested on my iPhone 7 Plus (don't know why it shouldn't work on 8 or later), let me know if it works for you. It can detects NFC tags in background, however, your phone should be awake.

[Discussion] Who would be interested in an update to wifiFirmwareUpdater?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2019 06:15 PM PST

wifiFirmwareUpdater is a bash script that I wrote a while back on iOS 10 that allowed users to load the iOS 11 WiFi firmware to essentially patch the Broadcom exploit that was present in 10.3.3 and below (I'm not sure how low). Essentially, it uses wifiFirmwareLoader, something that is present in iOS itself and is used for loading the WiFi firmware on boot. Using the arguments of the executable and the WiFi firmware files, we are able to load compatible WiFi firmware to lower iOS versions. For example, someone on iOS 10 could load the iOS 13 WiFi firmware if their device can run on iOS 13. Most times it will work with some exceptions. Here is what I would like to do:

    1. Create a UI for the script. The script is in bash right now, so I would need to rewrite it to make an objective-c app.
    2. Allow users to load custom firmware rather than defaulting to only one firmware.
    3. Have the tool legally download firmware files from the IPSW, without me having to host files on GitHub, which is what I did before. The trouble with this is that it appears that it will require downloading the entire IPSW, as well as mounting the root file system dmg. But I know Succession does this, so it is possible. What I am not currently capable of:
    4. Unfortunately I can only really say that I'm good at writing bash scripts. I have a small amount of JavaScript knowledge but that's it. I have yet to really look into C or objective-c. So I don't think writing an app would be an easy task for me.
    5. Mounting a dmg on iOS. Perhaps someone can lead me to the correct tools to do so, but the last time I tried, it never worked. I will have to look into this again.

If there are others who would be willing to help with the things I stated above I would appreciate it. I need to find the script that I had before I start anything.

[Update] Zoom for YouTube - zoom right up to the notch & more!

    Posted: 05 Dec 2019 03:28 PM PST

[Update] Zoom for YouTube - zoom right up to the notch & more!

Zoom for YouTube just got updated to version 1.1.0!

This tweak changes the values for YouTube's "Zoom To Fill" feature, to zoom just up to about 18:9 aspect ratio, which is right up to the notch. There's also an option to zoom in by default!

Tested and compatible with: iPhone X, iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone Xr. iOS 11.0-13.2.3 (Those are all of the iPhones that has the notch, and all of the iOS versions they support!).

Update: More than 3,500 downloads only in the last 2 days! thank you so much guys! (that's as of 5 Dec, 18:00 EST time)

    Changes:

Just as the community requested, you can now use the "Zoom by default" feature to zoom in by default even without limiting the zoom to 18:9 aspect ratio.

    WIP:

After adding that, I will probably disappear for a while in order to make some more tweaks, so make sure you follow my Twitter account to get more info about new tweaks, betas, and releases. Might take a while until you'll get new tweaks and beta releases since I'm in college.

[Discussion] Packix fails to respond to multiple GDPR requests

    Posted: 05 Dec 2019 07:44 AM PST

A few days ago I posted this on Twitter, talking about how Packix didn't respond to my GDPR request. I was shocked to find out this has happened to multiple people, including trusted members of the community, 23Aaron, Shuga and Kushy.

AFAIK, the legal deadline for GDPR requests is 30 days after the email is sent, so I may attempt to contact the local authorities.

Just wanted to notify the community about this, you can make your own judgement on whether you trust Packix with your data 🤷‍♂️.

[Discussion] So, I had a very unpleasant experience with the jailbreak community on Discord.

    Posted: 05 Dec 2019 11:15 PM PST

This was a doozy. Alright on with it.

Since yesterday, I have been trying to find a tweak that would bypass jailbreak detection on iOS 13. (Long story short: Liberty Lite Beta works just fine. I had issues with getting here, that is why it took this long.) During my search I decided to try to ask the discord server about it.

I simply asked if there was a tweak that bypasses jailbreak detection on iOS 13 because choicy doesn't work for me. Once I sent that message, all hell broke loose. I was being taunted for not being able to do research and for being utterly incapable of using google. I made a small joke saying, "I study computer science, I know how to google." There were 3 or 4 people beating me down at this point and I just had to put a spelling mistake in there because I was using swipe type. More mean comments...

"You aren't getting an English major for sure", "With your googling skill, you should quit computer science", "Illiterate", "Fuckhead". No help from anyone and this went on for about an hour straight. They spammed at me saying "choicy works", "choicy works", "choicy works". I said again, "no, I'm using choicy right now, it doesn't work!"

    "Try tweakconfigurator."

    FINALLY some actual help!

One message later: "You would have found that if you could research."

Thanks jailbreak discord, very cool. (Spoiler alert: TweakConfigurator didn't work either)

More spamming and stuff later, I finally left and dug deeper in google to actually solve my problem.

I come back later to say I solved my problem. They continued taunting me for the same stuff even after I solved the problem they were no help for. But here's the funny part. I was trying to tell them how rude they were and here's what they said, "Should've figured out what you were talking about before you asked us." Just... Wow... literally the only reason why I was there in the first place was to ask for support and they're like, naw, support yourself.

The point I am trying to get across is this: please make an effort for a healthy community. It shouldn't be that hard for me to ask about tweaks that can fit my needs. I had one simple question and I got attacked for it. Please do something to welcome newcomers. Don't send them in to an existential crisis.

TLDR: Discord JB community is very toxic, please fix.

[Question] Is there a modern status bar tweak that works on the lock-screen for iPhone 8+ or devices that don’t have it, it only works on the home-screen

    Posted: 05 Dec 2019 10:24 PM PST

Cydia Impactor is broken, and the OTA download on unc0ver's official website seems to be signed extremely sporadically. Is there any other method I could use to install unc0ver?

    Thanks for your help.

[Discussion] I’ve determined libCSColorPicker breaks battery usage in settings but I don’t know how to contact the dev?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2019 08:02 PM PST

When installing something that uses libcscolorpicker, battery usage settings breaks. Uninstalling it makes it work again, so I'm certain. However I can't search for that in cydia as no results come up. Does anyone know who makes this so we can hopefully get it fixed?

    [Tutorial] Fix Nightly "budd" Crashing

    Posted: 05 Dec 2019 10:09 AM PST

TL;DR enable the OTA software updates daemon in iCleaner Pro

I have been waking up to budd crashes for months. As many have pointed out, budd is related to iCloud backups. Turning off iCloud backup will stop this from being called and thus crashing, but that's not a solution. I rely on iCloud backup to keep my data safe in case something happens to my phone.

If this is happening to you then you're probably familiar with this Cr4shed log:

    Exception type: NSInternalInconsistencyException Reason: Must be invoked on the main thread Culprit: Unknown Call stack: 0 CoreFoundation 0x00000001c473a9a4 __exceptionPreprocess 1 libobjc.A.dylib 0x00000001c39139f8 objc_exception_throw 2 CoreFoundation 0x00000001c4654098 +[_CFXNotificationTokenRegistrationnkeyCallbacks] 3 Foundation 0x00000001c5118088 -[NSAssertionHandler handleFailureInMethod:object:file:lineNumber:description:] 4 SoftwareUpdateServices 0x00000001e3b8d88c __45-[SUManagerClient isAutomaticUpdateV2Enabled]_block_invoke 5 Foundation 0x00000001c52bc464 __NSXPCCONNECTION_IS_CALLING_OUT_TO_ERROR_BLOCK__ 6 Foundation 0x00000001c52bd95c __88-[NSXPCConnection _sendInvocation:orArguments:count:methodSignature:selector:withProxy:]_block_invoke_3 7 Foundation 0x00000001c50a0e74 -[NSXPCConnection _sendInvocation:orArguments:count:methodSignature:selector:withProxy:] 8 Foundation 0x00000001c509fe88 -[NSXPCConnection _sendSelector:withProxy:arg1:] 9 Foundation 0x00000001c52c34f0 _NSXPCDistantObjectSimpleMessageSend1 10 SoftwareUpdateServices 0x00000001e3b8d708 -[SUManagerClient isAutomaticUpdateV2Enabled] 11 SetupAssistant 0x00000001d6e11b78 BYDaemonCreateMetadataArchive 12 budd 0x0000000102e88190 budd + 16784 13 libdispatch.dylib 0x00000001c4178a38 _dispatch_call_block_and_release 14 libdispatch.dylib 0x00000001c41797d4 _dispatch_client_callout 15 libdispatch.dylib 0x00000001c415089c _dispatch_queue_override_invoke 16 libdispatch.dylib 0x00000001c415c9d4 _dispatch_root_queue_drain 17 libdispatch.dylib 0x00000001c415d248 _dispatch_worker_thread2 18 libsystem_pthread.dylib 0x00000001c435a1b4 _pthread_wqthread 19 libsystem_pthread.dylib 0x00000001c435ccd4 start_wqthread

After months of seeing this, I finally noticed something odd:

    4 SoftwareUpdateServices 10 SoftwareUpdateServices

I went to Settings > General > Software Update and Settings froze. I realized I had turned off the daemon a long time ago as an extra measure to protect my jailbreak. I haven't seen a budd crash in two weeks after turning this back on. Hope this helps someone!
