MacBook Pro 2012 Unibody vs MacBook Pro 2015 w/ Retina?

I currently own Mid 2010 MacBook pro 2.4ghz Intel Core Duo 4GB RAM Upgraded HDD to a 500GB Samsung EVO SSD

I was originally looking to upgrade the RAM to 16GB but decided I may want a newer MacBook.

    I landed on a good deal for a 13inch MacBook Pro 2012 with 2.9GHz Dual-Core Core i7 processor 16GB memory 1.0TB for around $800.

I heard the MacBook Pro 2015 was a great laptop and I was looking at a 15" Retina display 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 16gb RAM 1600 DDR3 512 SSD for a little more than the 2012.

I do plan on using Photoshop so the retina would be nice but I've been okay with my 2010 MacBook in terms of display. Pretty torn between the two since it seems I can get more bang in the 2012 MacBook and also save some money.

    Thoughts? Opinions? Thanks!

Non-touchbar 2017 Macbook Pro Popping Noises

    Posted: 28 Dec 2019 06:19 PM PST

So I recently started noticing a popping noise coming from my macbook. Anyone have any similar experiences and what did you do to fix it? The sound occurs even when my computer isnt hot and the fan not going. I chatted with apple online and did the things they said but no luck. Just wanted to ask here before I took it in.

Trade up program or sell and trade?

    Posted: 28 Dec 2019 09:15 AM PST

Hi guys, What's everyone's experience with the Apple Trade-Up program? What about the Best Buy Trade-In Program?

I have an Early 2015 13.3" 8GB MacBook Pro and I'd like to get a 2018-new model 13.3" MacBook Air. I don't mind purchasing a refurbished model but I would prefer something from a certified seller, so even if I sell outright to an individual I will repurchase from a store.

Would it be best for me to trade in with Apple, and then use the credit towards a new device?

Or should I sell with an individual and then buy from a store? Where to sell? And how much is a 2015 pro even worth? It's in good condition but not excellent.

    Thanks for all the help!

    i9 vs i7 16" Macbook Pro

    Posted: 28 Dec 2019 04:37 PM PST

Hello there, I'm deciding to get a 16" Macbook Pro for school and was wondering to get the 6 core i7 model or 8 core i9 model. The 8 core i9 model comes with 1TB of storage and upgraded graphics included in the cost making it the better deal. Will the i9 get too hot or thermal throttle? Is the i7 6 core option better? My uses would be the usual Google docs, emails, programming, video editing, and the occasional light game or two.

Which monitor do you use with your MBP?

Like the title says, which monitor do you use with your mbp? I have the MBP16 by the way

I recently bought an LG 27" Type C 4k monitor but I would prefer larger and one that actually outputs 100w instead of 60w.

    Macbook Pro 2019 Mouse Issues

    Posted: 28 Dec 2019 06:55 AM PST

Hi guys. I just bought a new Macbook Pro a couple of days ago and I was trying to connect my MX Master 2s to it but was having some issues. I was finally able to get it connected but it felt terrible. The mouse was skipping across the screen and was not a good experience at all.

I then purchased a Magic Mouse 2 last night just to see what Apple's mouse offered in performance and while the skipping has gone away, there is an insane amount of mouse acceleration that I'm trying to get rid of. I Googled away and found to paste in

    defaults write .GlobalPreferences com.apple.mouse.scaling -1

This seemed to have fixed it but every time I adjust the mouse sensitivity, the acceleration keeps coming back and the mouse sensitivity returns back to a fast speed.

This is my first macOS experience so my question is, is this normal? Both with the MX Master 2s mouse and the acceleration? I don't like the form factor of the Magic Mouse 2 so I'm probably going to return it so if I can't get my MX Master 2s to work, what mice do y'all recommend? I'm looking for ergonomics more than anything.

    Thanks for the help guys!
