WatchOS 6.1 on the Series 1: A comprehensive review & update on Battery Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:13 PM PST Okay. I'm a bit behind on this update. I was meant to do this a few days ago, but between all the fires and power outages here in California, I hadn't had the chance. If you haven't read my review, you can do so right here. I was originally going to simply reply to the post, but I feared my reply would get lost in the rest. TL;DR: After the initial indexing period, the watch's battery has improved beyond that of 5.0. I would suggest updating your Series 1 or Series 2 so long as it doesn't have absolutely unusable battery life. So, how has my experience changed?
Personally, I don't find too much different in my usage. The hourly chimes are probably my most used feature in WatchOS 6. It's a great way to stay informed of the hour, and like I said in my review, brings the AOD of the Series 5 to the Series 1 in a way, letting me know the time without looking at the watch. I will note, however, the new apps and interfaces in WatchOS 6 do prove themselves useful in my low usage.
After the initial indexing, battery life has improved. I'm seeing about 3 hours longer of a battery, and with low to moderate usage, that's 27 hours without setting my watch on a charger. Granted, I don't use my Watch as much as I'm sure a lot of you do. You can expect about 24 hours with more moderate use. Oh, and of course, your results may vary. My Series 1 has seen low-to-moderate use every day for the past 3 years or so. If you're in a similar boat, it's safe to say you can expect the same battery performance.
Overall, I'm happy with updating my watch. It's got lots of cool features, and now that we know for certain battery life isn't a thing to worry about, I urge everyone else with a functional Series 1 or Series 2 to update. It's a sleek new design with improved GUIs, great functional apps, improved battery life, and many other things I've gone over in my review. [link] [comments]

[Support] Can't use WPA2 Entreprise Wifi (eduroam) on WatchOS 6 Posted: 04 Nov 2019 08:28 AM PST Hi, I'm seeing a lot of talk around this issue but none worked for me. I want to connect my Apple Watch series 5 to an WPA2 Entreprise network (my school's "eduroam") but I'm facing several issues :
Also, the username / password method does not work on my iPhone / Mac, the eduroam website says that apple devices need the installer. Any idea ? My iPhone XR is run-in iOS 13.2 and my Series 5 cellular is running WatchOS 6.0.1 [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Nov 2019 08:11 AM PST Hey guys, wondering if anyone has any issues with answering calls on their phone/earbuds while the watch is notifying you that a call is coming in. I take the call on earpiece but the watch keeps trying to get me to answer the call. If i accept it then it switches to the watch, which is stupid, and there's no way to ignore it. Kind of a pain in the ass if you ask me. Happening more since the latest to 6.1. I am on a series 2 SS. [link] [comments]
Bringing down the notification shade from anywhere Posted: 04 Nov 2019 02:12 AM PST Here's a great tip that I found myself today. Of course, swiping down on the watch face brings down the notification shade. Holding down on the top of the watch face also makes it peek out, allowing you to swipe down that way too. However, this only works on the watch face. What if you're in a workout and want to check your notifications quickly without leaving the workout app? Simply hold down on the top of the screen, making it peek out and allowing you to swipe it down. This also works for the control center, making turning on or off do not disturb mode easy! Posted: 04 Nov 2019 07:42 AM PST Can someone please enlighten me? Short version: WatchOS 4.2.3 is said to work with iOS 11.2, but the Watch app declines? Details: I finally got a new iPhone 8, (New Old Stock) with iOS 11.2.1. I wanted it for jailbreaking. I also got a Series 3 Cellular watch that has WatchOS 4.0.1. The Wikipedia page for WatchOS says that I should be able to update the watch to the last version that is supported by iOS 11.2, which is WatchOS 4.2.3. However, when I try to update from the phone it says I have to first update the phone, which I will not be doing. Any help appreciated. [link] [comments]
Switching from Garmin to Apple Watch Posted: 04 Nov 2019 07:35 AM PST Did anyone here switch from Garmin to Apple? On the Garmin reddit I've seen several who have jumped from Apple to Garmin and just wondered. If so why did you switch and which do you find more motivational for general fitness? I love Garmins data but I really like the Apple rings. I'm kind of torn. I currently have an instinct and a AW3. Considering getting the AW5. [link] [comments]

Series 4 or 5? [advise needed] Posted: 04 Nov 2019 06:34 AM PST Hello, I am currently looking into buying an apple watch. Mainly because of two reasons:
I already have an iPhone and also think that the apple watch is a much nicer looking watch than most other smartwatches (in my opinion of course), so it seems like a good choice. My questions are:
I don't mind raising my wrist but I would mind raising my wrist and then wait a bit to look at the watch. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]

New Apple Watch owner, question about notifications Posted: 04 Nov 2019 06:22 AM PST Hey guys, 10 year android owner here finally switched over and got myself an Apple Watch. Wow, I really have been missing out. Quick question though, I love the AOD and I really don't need the wrist lift to wake the screen so I turned that off. But now when notifications come in, the screen doesn't light up to show me the notifications. Is it designed this way? I still want to see my notifications as they come in but don't need the screen turning on to high power all day long just because I lifted my arm the slightest bit. I hope not and hopefully I'm just missing something. [link] [comments]
So how does Apple Watch sense a workout Posted: 03 Nov 2019 11:42 PM PST What I mean is that when you forgot to put on workout while working out. How does it know? Because when I forget the Apple Watch doesn't notice I'm working out. I also have workout reminder on. It doesn't even sense my walking workout. [link] [comments]
Notification / control centers not appearing, requiring restart Posted: 04 Nov 2019 05:30 AM PST Has anyone else had an issue with watchOS 6 where swiping up or down doesn't get you the control or notification centers? Once or twice I've got it to work again by opening an app and doing the long tap on the top or bottom of the screen to pull them out, but now it seems more often the only fix is a restart. Anyone else? [link] [comments]
