Anyone else annoyed last year's "Next Gen Neural Engine" is too "obsolete" for Deep Fusion? Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:59 PM PST Apple made such a huge deal with how the A12 Bionic chip in last year's phones had this amazing 8 core, 5 trillion operation neural network that was going to change the photography game. And yet here we are a year later and perhaps the biggest implementation of the neural network, Deep Fusion, has been gated only to the 11 series and A13 chip? All reports have the A13's neural network topping out at 20% faster so of course it should get priority, but 20%s slower isn't that slow when we're talking trillions of operations. You can't tell me with a straight face that having computational photos a few fractions of a second slower means last year's A12 processors are shit out of luck. The entire iOs 13.2 update feels like a slap in the face of iPhone Xs and Xr users being told that processors only a year older, and not that much slower, won't be enough for new software based features anymore. And it's just telling me that buying a new iPhone next year won't give me access to whatever new camera feature comes out the year after. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Nov 2019 03:29 PM PST TL;DR Swappa does an imperfect job checking if phones are still under a financing plan. You won't know until after you pay and Swappa won't support you afterwards. You'll be stuck with a phone locked to a carrier with little resale value. On their website Swappa say they check all phones for this but in my case they didn't and now they won't do anything. Backstory - I bought an iPhone X about six months ago on Swappa, activated it on AT&T and things were fine. Seller had 55 transactions or so so I figured things were good. Until... I had to travel overseas a few weeks ago and realized when I landed that I'd forgotten to activate roaming before I traveled and the phone was locked to AT&T. Fine, I figured, I would unlock when I get home. But when I got back and tried to unlock, AT&T said the phone was tied to an unpaid financing plan so they won't unlock it. I contacted Swappa who advised I first had to contact the seller. So I did message the seller. After lots of back and forth the seller offered me $100. Refused a refund and return. So I persisted with Swappa directly. They did check the IMEI number (which is listed on the transaction summary) and they confirmed that it is really locked to a financing plan. According to their own terms of service you are not allowed to sell a phone that's still on a finance plan. So I would not be allowed to sell the phone now on Swappa but it shouldn't have been sold in the first place. According to their website Swappa say their staff check all the phones for this problem but clearly they didn't for this sale until afterwards when I brought up the problem. So now it looks like I'm stuck with an iPhone that's so "damaged" by being locked to a finance plan that Swappa won't even allow it to be re-sold on their platform. Very disappointed In Swappa b/c checking for this exact problem of financed phones is supposedly one of the main services they provide and a reason for using them. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 08:37 AM PST I have just noticed that the flicker that we see when we take picture with DF on, is present in windows 10 photos native app, so if you watch at the details, it will get clearer once you open it, so you won't be in dilemma. [link] [comments] |
