Posted: 10 Oct 2019 08:35 PM PDT So I just updated to Catalina and noticed the iOS Remote app doesn't work with the new Catalina Music app. Do you think this will be fixed soon or do I need to downgrade to Mojave? I really need my remote back. [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Oct 2019 10:29 PM PDT Long story short, I have a set of studio speakers that have automatic on/off. If it doesn't detect a sound signal, there's a relay in there that will turn off the speaker into standby. I've been using an 80hz sine wave mp3 to turn on the speaker. Is there a way I could set up a hotkey that I could press to automatically play the mp3 file with Preview, then auto close Preview? Thanks. [link] [comments]

Random tritone sound effect in Catalina? Posted: 10 Oct 2019 06:26 PM PDT Ever since I've updated to Catalina, my Mac will make the Tritone sound every so often, with no clear indication as to what it's sounding off for. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can stop it? It's rather bothersome in my opinion Thanks so much for any help [link] [comments]
iOS Devices sync progress on Catalina Posted: 11 Oct 2019 12:07 AM PDT Back in iTunes before macOS Catalina, when syncing an iOS device it was showing the steps that following and the progress of them. Now on Catalina, when syncing over the finder it only shows a progress cycle but non of the steps or percentage or nothing. Also, when downloading an iOS update through Finder on catalina it also does not showing the progress of download! I can't know how many GBs is the update, how many time I have to wait for the download to finish, or even the progress! That's stupid!! Any solution?? [link] [comments]
Try this to fix 'No Devices' in Sidecar Posted: 10 Oct 2019 11:53 PM PDT Sidecar still shows 'No Devices' for me but right clicking the green minimize button on the browser window and clicking 'Move to XXX's iPad' suddenly activates Sidecar on my iPad. [link] [comments]
Mac app comparable to Procreate? Posted: 10 Oct 2019 09:13 PM PDT Now that I have my first-ever Mac (Mini 2012 maxed out) running Duet with my iPad Pro 10.5 as an extended display/writing tablet, I'm looking for more apps to add to my Mac. I love drawing on my iPad Pro with the Procreate app. Best drawing app I've ever used. Unfortunately, Procreate does not appear to be available as a MacOS app. Bummer! What are any comparable "pro" level drawing apps for Mac? I'd love to try using my iPad as a drawing tablet and see my work up on a larger monitor. [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Oct 2019 02:17 AM PDT Hi! I have a 2013 MBP currently on Mojave that I would like to use as a dedicated Logic 9 machine now which involves a downgrade to Sierra as the last version of OSX to support that software. I've struggled to find a guide to achieve exactly this as it appears to be quite a niche pursuit but my belief is I need to download the oldest version of OSX I can from the App Store (High Sierra I think?), install that, then download Sierra and install it. Is that right or is there an easier way? Seems a bit convoluted. Is there a reliable Sierra image anywhere I could use to create a bootable USB instead? It's be nice if I didn't have to go through the App Store but I don't know that I trust the alternatives I've seen. Any assistance appreciated. Cheers! [link] [comments]

iCloud Issues I ran into after a clean installation of Catalina and fixes Posted: 10 Oct 2019 04:58 PM PDT I did clean installations of macOS a few times and each time ran into the same set of issues. I thought I'd post how I resolved them here in case they're useful for others: iCloud Drive gets stuckAfter every install, for unknown reasons, I'd be stuck at "Downloading 5 files." A few tiny files that are each just a few kb in size refuse to sync. Every time, as soon as I use the following command to monitor progress, they immediately finish downloading – iCloud Photos won't syncMy entire iCloud photo library refuse to download after a day. Another reinstallation didn't help, until I noticed the following in the Console: My guess is that someone coded a thermal threshold that's far too low. I've managed to get the syncing started by unplugging my external monitors. Amazingly, the download would stop as soon as I plug in the external monitors... iCloud Keychain struggles to syncMy iCloud keychain would either be incomplete or completely blank after clean installations. The good news is that there's nothing to worry about – all the passwords are still in iCloud; the bad news is that it seems impossible to force a sync. On my Mac, it took more than 12 hours to have 500 passwords synced; on my iPhone, it took even longer. So don't worry and just be patient. Hope these help! [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Oct 2019 01:17 AM PDT So I am running a ubiquiti access point. Sometimes the connection will drop to a very slow (couple Mbps) speed, while wired connections will still stay at around 200Mbps. Any suggestions how to debug? Recommended apps? [link] [comments]
MacBook registering typed words/keystrokes twice since Catalina Posted: 11 Oct 2019 01:11 AM PDT I upgraded my Mac to Catalina the day before yesterday, which turned out to not have been the greatest idea. It started (sometimes, but regularly) registering keystrokes and typed words twice, which makes it basically unusable for any kind of serious work. I'll end up with syllables of words randomly appearing again, which of course has to be corrected every time. (For example, "MacBoMacok" instead of "MacBook", "is is", "MojMoave", "CatalCaina" etc.). It is a MacBook Pro 2017, but I can rule out the physical keyboard being the issue, as I already had this replaced for dust and the problem still appears while using an external keyboard. Does anybody else have this problem? I cannot find anything about it online. I might just have to roll back to Mojave using Time Machine - even though I love Sidecar. The keyboard issue is unacceptable. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Oct 2019 01:08 AM PDT I can't find any help on that, Am I the only one? I installed Catalina, everyting went perfectly, then at first boot on login screen, I entered my password, the loading bar is full, but nothing happens. I can't seem to enter safe mode either (MacBook Pro 15" 2015). I already reset PRAM/NVRAM but it didn't help. Disk utility "SOS" mode didn't find any problem. How can I pass this loading screen? Any idea? EDIT: Just tried as well to reset the SMC, but still stuck on this loading screen. [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Oct 2019 02:21 PM PDT So I did a lot of things that weren't smart: 1. Didn't check to see that sidecar wouldn't work on my MacBook Pro (mid-2012), which was the very reason I tried to install Catalina in the first place. 2. Didn't back up my hard drive (it was never a problem before) in case I wanted to return to Mojave (which I do) 3. Didn't check to see if apps that I downloaded (Sketchup Make 2017) were 32bit or 64bit. I'm pretty sure it was 64bit since I was told that 32bit programs wouldn't work when I upgraded to Mojave. Is there ANY work around at this stage where I can save my files if I downgrade? Or am I shit out of luck. Also, if I can't downgrade (which seems to be the case), what cheap alternatives do I have for Sidecar? [link] [comments] |
