    Used to use Freshbooks, but they've made a lot of changes that were less than helpful and I've been meaning to get something with so much sensitive personal and client info out of the cloud and a third-party company. But looking around, it seems like almost EVERYTHING is online only these days. Surely there must be a few decent software solutions out there that run on a Mac. Anyone have anything they like?

    SCP and rsync hang in Catalina

    Trying to run an rsync or SCP command (to a debian server in this case) seems to just hang indefinitely. Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix?

    Airdropping from Catalina to an older mac

    Does anyone know how to airdrop files from Catalina to an old mac? There used to be an option when using Mojave to "search for an older mac" but it has now been removed from Catalina but there is a way to get it back.

    There is a user named jackluke on the macrumors forum. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macos-10-15-catalina-on-unsupported-macs.2183772/page-77 but his instructions are not working for me when I input the text into terminal. Has anyone else tried to fix this?

    2010 iMac with High Sierra hanging and beachballing

    My 2010 iMac (1TB hdd, non-ssd) hangs and beachballs quite frequently. When I say hang, I mean the system seems to freeze and then all of a sudden remember what i did and perform everything all at once. The weird thing is, I can draw boxes on the desktop when it is in that state. I'm guessing my HDD is dying, but I don't want to spring for an SSD upgrade if the problem won't be fixed. The system was just recently clean installed and has been like that since. Activity Monitor and Console show nothing extreme happening during the lags.

    Any thoughts or advice?

    MacOS Catalina original release is the worst.

    I was on Catalina developer beta for about 4 months till now. Had very less problems.

    Very recently switched out of the developer releases. I find it horrible.

    1. In safari youtube dark theme setting won't persist. I have to turn on dark theme everytime.
    2. Weird preview issues, while previewing csv files, system just hangs.
    3. Paragon NTFS driver still not available for 10.15
    4. Microsoft power point just quits unexpectedly after slide show.
    5. After restarting, the my iTerm setup with oh-my-zsh and some custom icons and stuff, everything is messed up.

    Seriously the developer betas were far more stable than the original release.

    What happened apple? And some design elements are also out of place.

    I hate that we can't resize itunes, app store, podcasts, tv to a good extent.

    Where is the attention to detail apple?

    [Question] iPhone with iOS 13 appear on music app but not on finder

    Trying to wifi sync unsuccessfully. My iPhone appears on new Catalina Music app through wifi but doesn't show up on Finder. Any way to fix this?

    voice control not working when clicked to turn on, the tick then dissapears

    Hi all not sure where to go for this, google isn't helping so far.

    I can't turn on voice control, I pretty seriously need voice control to sustain a long period of work.

    I can turn on voice control by clicking 'enable voice control'. Then, the OS asks me to give my password. I give my password, and then, nothing happens. Then after nothing happens, the blue tick turns itself off completely.

    I've turned my computer on and off and dont know what else to do. I will reply later maybe, but im typing with my hands and i cant keep thsi up lol

    Glitchy visual transitions in Catalina?

    Hey everyone, I just installed Catalina 10.15 on my MacBook Pro. I immediately noticed random glitches in visual transitions. For example, when I click on an icon in my dock it flickers, or if I click on one of the drop downs at the top of my screen (i.e., Photoshop) it flickers, or if I'm in Safari and I go to type in the URL box it flickers. It's super strange. Things seem super jumpy and glitchy. Anyone else having this problem?

    I ran Disk Utility First Aid just to make sure nothing's wrong, it checked out fine.

    Let me know if anyone else is experiencing the same, or what you think I should do?

    [Issues] iMac unable to detect wireless keyboard and mouse during Catalina fresh install

    Hey guys!

    So basically, I boot up my iMac 5k 2017 to the Catalina usb boot drive for a fresh install. The very first popup that that loads the boot drive is a screen asking to select user (before keying in the password). At this stage, my wireless keyboard and mouse are totally undetectable.

    I have did Mojave fresh install before without such issues. But Catalina boot up just refuse to detect my wireless keyboard and mouse.

    I spent several hours googling to no avail. Is this an unusual encounter? Any solutions to this?

    I have 2015 12" MacBook running Mojave.

    I'm having a issues with the BT audio on my laptop, it stutters/crackles for the first 1 to 1.5 secs when the audio starts playing then it normally plays fine but will struggle to stay connected. If I'm watching a film my laptop will have perfect high quality no lag sound then suddenly drop connection. It will maybe ~4-10 times during the 2hr movie.

    It's super frustrating to have constant interruptions in the films/songs.

    If I'm not playing music and I drop a file into the trash the ding will be so distorted it's unrecognisable.

    If I'm playing from Netflix, QuickTime, iTunes, or Spotify it will just go silent while the movie/song keeps playing on-screen then after a few secs my headphones will be like "Joe's MacBook lost... Joe's MacBook connected"

    All in all, the bluetooth is ~95% functional so it actually took me a while to isolate that the MacBook is the problem. But I've definitely figured out that all these issue only happen with my laptop no matter what headphones I'm using or how crowded the area is. I found this post and it helped somewhat but the problem is still there.

    I've also option-clicked the BT icon in the menu a number of time to see the signal strength and I will still experience this crappy BT audio even if the signals is as strong as -47dB.

    Any solutions? Anyone else even have this is issue too?

    Office365 MSWord keeps spiking in CPU under macOS 10.15 Catalina

    I have turned "AutoSave" off and I don't have OneDrive turned on in the background, but ever since my coworker's Pro 15 (2014 model) upgraded to Catalina MSWord has been unusable. Doing almost anything, like selecting a paragraph of text, will make its CPU usage shoot up to 90% for a solid fifty seconds or so. It's fully up to date now. Anybody know a solution? The other O365 apps seem to be working fine.

    Hyperdock on Catalina - solution (i think?)

    Hi guys, I kept having the issue of hyperdock preferences popping up every few seconds even while i was full screen. I managed to fix it by updating to the last dev update by checking the "install unstable updates" option. I hope this helps people. I wish this would just be a feature in macos but alas :(

    Catalina WiFi issue on macbook air

    I updated to Catalina and now that iTunes is gone I'm (yet again) stuck to find how to add music onto my iphone from my laptop.. Idk why Apple has to make it so complicated all the time or maybe I'm just retarded. Anyway I downloaded files from an audio book but I can't find any "send to iPhone" option like I always used... When I google for help I get synchronize stuff which I never use I just wanna add some files onto my phone.. Can anyone help me

    My M585 mouse was working perfectly on my iMac 27" & macBook Pro 13" on Mojave for several years but after I upgraded to Catalina last night, it stutters and lags a few times a minute - about every 15 seconds. I've removed it from BT settings and repaired it but it still does it.

    Any suggestions?

    Folder disappeared

    Catalina blocks saving Office 2019 files

    I keep getting an error when I try to save as excel files. the message is- You do not have permission to save files to this location. No matter where I try to save, same thing. No matter which document. I have an imac 27" late 2013, 3.4 quad i5. Anybody else run into that. I found something on apples website that supposedly updates permissions, did the whole thing in terminal & still the same problem. I can't use my work record files. Any way to fix it or go back to the previous OS?

    Pages file won't open

    Hi and thank you in advance for any insights or help!

    I am having issues opening a file I created in Pages. I can see the file both in the file list when I click on the pages icon in my dock and when (in that same menu in the dock), I click "Show All Windows". But every time I select the file nothing happens.

    I've tried searching by the file name everywhere, but it's not showing up. I'm 90% certain I saved the file, but I'm running out of places to look.

    If it helps, yes I'm up to date on Pages updates, I recently updated to Catalina (ugh) and I often use Google Drive, though given the nature of this file (notes to myself) I thought I had saved it locally.
