    Films won’t play or download

    So I've recently started to use Apple TV on my iPhone, I've purchased IT (the movie) and it won't let me watch it, tried downloading the film but when it gets close to finishing the download it cancels and starts it all again. Any ideas on what I can do?

    Is TV app Up Next glitching for anyone else?

    When I finish a new show episode, the show removes itself from Up Next as expected. However, when I go back into the TV app after killing it, the show is back in the Up Next section again and referencing that same episode that I just watched. This just started happening about a day or so ago, and I'm seeing it with multiple content providers ( e.g. Hulu and The CW). If I then manually mark the episode as watched, the show correctly stays out of Up Next, until the next new episode.

    Edit: Nevermind on that mark as watched comment. A problem show is back again, even after I marked as watched.

    Spotify keeps logging me out

    HBO Go shows are not "auto-launching"

    Since updating to tv13, when selecting a HBO Go show on the NEXT UP timeline, the show takes me to the app, but doesn't launch the show. I need to manually find the show in the app and then launch it. Anyone else seeing this?

    Remote connection to Apple TV is awful

    I've attached my Apple TV to the back of my TV as it's mounted on the wall. It's not visible at all from the front, and its base is flat against the back to the TV (close to the bottom left corner).

    I don't think the remote uses infrared to control the Apple TV itself, so I'm surprised that I have to be very close to the TV for the remote to function smoothly. Otherwise, it lags a lot and doesn't respond properly. Using the Remote app on my iPhone works completely fine though. What gives?

    Selecting which app is used for "up next" shows ?

    I want to use Hulu for some of my tvs shows that appear in the "up next" section. Some shows I watch on Hulu but can also be used on some other apps. For example: I like to watch Family Guy & Bobs Burgers on Hulu, but i also have the Fox Now app. Those two shows come up in the "up next" section with the Fox Now app. Any way to make those shows always us Hulu without clicking and holding and selecting "view details" and selecting Hulu?

    Match frame rate and range questions

    So I recently purchased an Apple TV 4K. Been absolutely loving it so far, mostly used for Netflix and finally got started on Peaky Blinders S05.

    Well the frame rate was stuttering bad, I figured it may be a connection issue, I was streaming something else on twitch at the time so I figured it was maybe messing with the connection even though that's abnormal. I put on a second episode hours later, nothing else on, and the frame rate still stuttered.

    I checked around and found out that for some reason British shows on Netflix (and in general?) should have the settings on 50hz, once I did that the stutter stopped. I know the title up until this point hasn't even been addressed but where it comes in is that I turned on the match rate and range and nothing seemed to happen (tv was at 60hz) once I switched it to 50hz and then put on range and rate then switched back to 60hz it seems to now be working as intended.

    My question is, is range and rate acting how it should be? Was what I experienced a little glitch? Or because I never set up the 50hz to begin with the tv didn't recognize it to switch?

    Also my understand of the match is that it automatically detects how the show/movie was produced and matches that rather than trying to bump the rate up from say 24hz to 60hz. Is that correct?

    With a new 4K HDR TV on the way, I’m in need for a new Apple TV. It’s rumored Apple will release a new model soon. Is this a solid rumor? Should I continue to wait?

    I have a new 4K HDR TV on the way but I only have the 3rd gen Apple TV, and therefore no way to stream 4K HDR content.

    I've seen the price of the 4th gen drop recently, which could be an indicator that the 5th gen is on the way.

    It's rumored they'll announce it with the launch of Apple TV+, but I would have thought Apple would have announced a keynote by now since we're 2 weeks away.

    Should I snatch the 4th gen at the discounted price or hold off another few weeks for the possibility of a new Apple TV?

    Having to keep logging into TV apps

    I've had to continuously activate the app so I can watch these TV apps. USA network, AMC, Adult Swim, TBS, TNT, NBC, etc. Fox Sports Go doesn't have this problem. HBO app only does this every once in a while when I don'tuse it. Is this normal? I thought it would just save my xfinity login.

    Control Center Remote Won’t Connect

    Is anyone else having the issue where the Control Center Remote Widget won't connect to any of their AppleTV's. It comes up fine and when I select the ATV to connect to it just says "Connecting..." then stops and goes back to the "Choose a TV" drop down. Additionally some of my ATV's show up twice.

    Phone is an 11 Pro Max on 13.1.2 and ATV's are all updated to 13.0. All are 4th Gen and the one I use the most is a 4K one. The actual Remote app works fine and will connect to and control all of the ATV's. So it's a minor annoyance but is driving me nuts, kind of an OCD thing. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    More Apple TV Airplay Woes

    Updated to the new tvOS 13.2 Beta, and this thankfully fixed the itunes airplay to apple tv 4, 4k issues, but now there is some really weird behavior I'm dealing with...

    First off, airplay from itunes to the apple tv seems to cut out randomly (airplay speaker in itunes goes from a checkmark to a dash, as if something else took precedence and stole the airplay focus).

    Secondly, I can't play my fucking iphone music app independently of my PC's itunes library if I'm airplaying to my apple tv!! My iphone music app shows my library playing to my tv, and I can't unselect it and play to my phone!

    This is all local library files, by the way. I am not trying to play from icloud or apple music, nor do I want to!

    This is ridiculous behavior, and I'm starting to think all of the airplay problems we've been seeing with tvOS 13 stem from apple trying to integrate their apple music services and make it ubiquitous on all of the hardware.

    Edit: Even after sleeping all apple tv's and itunes, I can't reselect the iPhone as the audio output on the phone itself. I have to airplay from the phone first before I get the option to select the iphone speaker for audio.

    tl;dr: itunes->apple tv airplay fixed, but breaks music app on iphone.

    Apple TV (3rd gen.) in 2019?

    I bought an Apple TV 4K at Target about two weeks ago. I don't own a 4K TV, but kept reading that the overall performance difference between the 4th gen. and 4K models was quite noticeable.

    But this morning, I realized I still had an old 3rd gen. model in storage - I updated the software, and it seems to run pretty well? I definitely prefer the old remote over the new one.

    The final day to return the 4K model to Target is tomorrow - so I was just curious if people here are still using the 3rd gen. model on a regular basis, and if they're frustrated with it, and if so, why. My primary usage would be to stream the hundreds of movies and tv shows I've purchased in the iTunes Store, not to use apps.

    AppleTV and Sony HT-ST5000 Problems when switching apps

    This a weird bug and I'm pulling out what little hair I have left trying to sort this out. My setup is as the following:

    - LG OLED TV - supports Dolby vision
    - Sony HT-ST5000 Soundbar, set to passthrough mode
    - Apple TV 4k - Dolby vision-enabled
    - All connected via HDMI 2.1

    It appears that the AppleTV flickers when jumping back to the home screen and gives up trying to output a HDMI signal. The only way I can get it back is to force the soundbar to a different HDMI channel and then back again. I don't have any other problems once in an app and I'm playing 4k HDR ATMOS content without a problem. It's just switching between the apps/going to the home screen which kills it.

    Does anyone have any ideas on this?

    Apple TV 4K playlist sorting issue (TvOS + TV App)

    I had a smart playlist of my current shows sorted by Release Date on my iTunes. I updated to Catalina and the TV App did its thing. The sorting of all my TV playlists (smart and regular) changed, so I went ahead and changed their sorting options to Release Date (oldest to newest). My Apple TV is now showing all my tv show playlists sorted by TV Show. No matter how many times I reboot everything they still display sorted by Show instead of sorted by Release Date (even though it's sorted fine on the TV App on my Macbook). Help?

    Both my ATV4K and Macbook have the latest updates.

    Has anyone else experience this or have a fix? I noticed recently (tvOS 13) that all of my Netflix ratings (Thumbs Up/Down) are gone. It is as if I've never rated a movie on Netflix. If I look on the desktop site, or the iOS app, the ratings are there - they just aren't on the AppleTV app. I signed out, uninstalled Netflix, reinstalled, and signed in again - and they still do not show. Any ideas or solutions?

    Disable "Remote Connection Lost" Dialog Box

    Since my AppleTV updated to the latest tvOS it now displays a dialog box when not using the remote that the "remote connection lost". Is there a way to disable this notification from happening? It's very annoying when it pops up about an hour into a movie.
