Do you use reduce transparency? Posted: 29 Oct 2019 09:59 PM PDT I find that it looks better with reduce transparency on. I use the default Catalina background and at night the dock looks blue which clashed with Chrome's darkmode. [link] [comments]
Want to learn to fix my own MacBook, where to start? Posted: 29 Oct 2019 07:22 AM PDT I have 2 dead MacBook Air s. First one was broken, I took it to my local shop, they said something to do with power circuit, fixed it for $150. Six months later it broke again with same symptom. So I just kept it in my closet and bought a new Air. Used it for 6 years, just now it refuses to turn on. I'm going to get a new one but I also want to try to fix both of them myself because taking them to the shop isn't worth it. I have a multimeter on hand where do I start? Any books/YouTubes I should look? [link] [comments]

What is the maximum number of displays a 2014 macbook pro can support? Posted: 29 Oct 2019 01:51 PM PDT I have a mid 2014 Macbook Pro. I've been able to connect two displays at once -one display using an HDMI and the other at the same time mirroring to my apple TV, and I'm able to extend the desktop so I have three total displays. My question is, can the macbook support extended desktop to another display connected via the thunderbolt 2 ports? I bought this off of amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013PWQPFS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it didn't work so now I'm thinking about buying these thunderbolt to vga adapters https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013G4EO76/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BDKTX30/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to see if I can have two displays plugged in via thunderbolt ports, another plugged in via HDMI port and a fourth one being my apple TV, making a total of 5! Are the adapters going to work? Is there a limit on how many displays are supported in "extended display" mode? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Oct 2019 01:09 PM PDT I just bought a brand new MacBook Air 2019 two weeks ago and I've had an issue with the mouse being frozen. After unlocking my computer sometimes my mouse will be frozen anywhere from 10-15 seconds. I thought this might be an issue with the computer so I had it replaced two days ago. I'm still having the issue so now I'm wondering if it could be a software problem. Has anyone else experienced this? [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Oct 2019 10:43 AM PDT I already sent my MacBook Pro 13'' with touchbar from 2017 to the warranty 2 times this year. The first time, my keyboard had the common issues and the screen had permanent scratches made by the keyboard. They replaced the keyboard, trackpad, screen and the battery. But, after this screen replacement I noticed that something wasn't right with the hinge. I could hear a little noise sometimes, when opening or closing the lid, and I could feel some friction on the hinge. I sent it again to the warranty and they just readjusted the hinge's screws. It's been a month since this last episode, and I feel that the problem with the hinge persists. What should I do? Ask for a full replacement (if it is possible) or send it to repair for the 3rd time? Side note: I'm from Portugal, Europe. I don't know if this changes any of the warranty conditions. [link] [comments]
MacBook Air 2019 screen randomly goes black Posted: 29 Oct 2019 09:28 AM PDT I was working on a google doc and my MacBook Air screen randomly went black. It's weird because I increased the brightness using the brightness keys on the keyboard and I saw the screen get brighter yet it was black. I ended up just closing the lid of my MacBook and opened it back up and it was working fine again. Is there a reason for this black screen issue? I've had my MacBook for almost 2 months and this has happened like 3 times over the 2 months. [link] [comments]

Photoanalysisd and Photolibraryd are draining my battery Posted: 29 Oct 2019 03:01 AM PDT So I was trying to figure out why my battery went from 100% to 90% overnight. And now down to 70% in less than 25min. My activity monitor says that those two things are using up my CPU currently and Energy overnight. I've researched, but I'm still confused. What are they exactly doing? How do I see how much longer it'll take/how do I stop it? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
