Posted: 25 Sep 2019 09:17 AM PDT To me, Apple really dropped the ball on iOS gaming. Look at the Nintendo Switch's success and popularity. It regularly get AAA releases and ports. Look at the success of both Fortnite and PUBG on iOS. The biggest obstacle to iOS gaming was the inability to control complex games and that people would be unwilling to drop $20+ on a mobile game. Well, iOS13 introduced support for controllers and a subscription model for games(though I am unsure $5 is enough) For example: Skyrim, The Witcher 3, Dragon Quest XI, Overwatch,Divinity: Original Sin II...etc have all been/are being ported to Switch. I can't imagine it would take much effort at all to port a game from Switch to iOS and it could be hugely profitable given the amount of iPhone and iPad users. Apple is spending $6 BILLION DOLLARS launching "Expensive NBC" that nobody asked for, but hasn't been willing to fund AAA game development or even throw a few dollars around to encourage developers to port games to iOS. I have no clue why Apple hasn't funded a game to highlight how powerful their chips are. According to Apple itself, the A12X has a GPU on par of the Xbox One S. "Check out our new A13 Bionic chip that is so powerful it can create matter from nothing.....and to show it off, here is a remake of a game from 1981" I can only think of three hurdles. 1) Storage space. The majority of iOS devices only have 64GB of storage space and it can't be expanded. One game taking up 20GB is a bit of an issue....But hey Apple! Here is how you get people to pay your insane markups for storage. 2) Games will HAVE to be upscaled. But anyone with a 4K TV is more than used to dealing with this. 3) Apple will again need the "courage" to accept games that require a controller into the App Store. I'm not sure if this is allowed as I doubt anyone has tried yet. I'm probably going to get blasted and people will say "just buy a Switch then(I have one), but I just find it frustrating that Apple has great powerful hardware and a massive market, but has just done so poorly in this area. Just for example: Switch gets The Witcher 3. iOS gets the Card Game from The Witcher 3 [link] [comments]

Posted: 24 Sep 2019 06:58 PM PDT Right now I play SlimeRoom (which I'm having a lot of fun with) and some other random games on the top charts but I'm looking for something better. I know there are great games like Stardew Valley or PUBG mobile but I want something I can pickup and put down without having to stay on for a set amount of time. I'm looking for mainly free games but I'm willing to spend <$5. Thanks for your help! [link] [comments]
