Youtube quality stays at 480p on Apple TV 4k Posted: 23 Sep 2019 02:41 PM PDT Lately i have noticed that my youtube video quality stays at 480p untill I go ahead and switch it to 1080p. Apple TV 4K is connected through Ethernet and has upload and download speeds of 500Mbps. Once it autoplays the next video it again fall back to 480p. Is there any way I can force the quality to stay at the highest. What could be causing this. [link] [comments]

Netflix/Apple Movies & AppleTV4k audio sync issues Posted: 23 Sep 2019 09:22 PM PDT LG C8 OLED TV with Apple TV 4K. Doing HDMI ARC out from the TV to an older Onkyo 7.1 receiver (can't handle 4K) to push audio. ATV is connected directly to the TV. Noticed some ATV content is perfectly synced (Hulu app) but Dolby Vision content on 4K Apple Movies, and most Netflix content was way off on the audio sync. Tried audio syncing settings on both TV and receiver, including adding delays on both sides. Confirmed bandwidth is ok on ATV. Most audio and video settings configured to auto (formats, syncing, etc) After updating the TV's firmware from factory (3.0.x) to latest (5.10.x?) the audio syncing improved quite a bit. Wanted to share because there were some posts (some old, some recent) where folks had similar issues with no resolution. [link] [comments]
can you save movies offline to the apple tv itself? Posted: 23 Sep 2019 02:31 PM PDT just wondering before i actually buy one, so i can get the 64gb if it does have offline storage for movies [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Sep 2019 07:05 AM PDT I have an ATV 4K with a 2019 LG OLED which supports both. Which should I enable, in your opinion? HDR or DV? [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Sep 2019 11:51 PM PDT Anyone got mouse and keyboard working on steam app on Apple TV? [link] [comments]
Did FXNow remove Simpsons World on the [old generation] Apple TV? Posted: 23 Sep 2019 07:29 PM PDT The app is totally different now and even after re-signing in there is still no Simpsons world or any way to watch The Simpsons like there was less than a week ago. What gives? [link] [comments]
Apple Arcade - renders at tv resolution Posted: 23 Sep 2019 09:22 PM PDT Switch to 1080p no hdr if you want to even play at a normal frame rate. You have to do this every time you switch between content. What a stupid issue [link] [comments]
Anybody use QuadStream to watch live stream from YouTube? Posted: 23 Sep 2019 09:16 PM PDT If so can you please teach me how you went about and set it up. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Sep 2019 08:56 PM PDT The Apple Music app's UI on Apple TV is starting to look very dated. I don't see any release notes to update the app with the next TV OS. Has anyone read of any applicable updates? [link] [comments]
Individual TV Seasons vs. Complete Series Posted: 23 Sep 2019 08:38 PM PDT I absolutely HATE that I have some TV show purchases as complete series and some as individual seasons. My Futurama complete series purchase is 100+ episodes and it's a pain to search for a specific episode. I love the organized individual seasons but they're always much more expensive than the full set! I know, I know. First world problems. Still cheeses me off. [link] [comments]
Apple TV won't turn Vizio TV off Posted: 23 Sep 2019 08:21 PM PDT Sorry for two posts in rapid-fire succession, but I have another question. I am using an Apple TV 4K on a Vizio D32H-C0 (that I got for the low low price of free). CEC works great. I can turn the TV on when I wake up the ATV, it automatically switches inputs when I wake the ATV, and I can control the TV volume with the Siri remote (well, kinda. The TV speakers are off and my soundbar won't work with the ATV remote). However, when I put the ATV to sleep, the TV remains on and must be turned off with its own remote. This Vizio TV replaces a roughly 10-year-old Dynex TV (a Best Buy cheapo) that worked great with CEC and the ATV. Turned on, off, volume worked, everything (well, it didn't automatically switch inputs). I've been looking around on Google, and this appears to be a common issue with Vizio TVs. Are there any known fixes? [link] [comments]
PlutoTV overlay won't go away! Posted: 23 Sep 2019 07:49 PM PDT This might not be the right sub for this, but I can't find one dedicated to PlutoTV discussion. So I've used PlutoTV regularly on my Apple TV 4K since mid-April, and it's worked fine. Now starting today, the overlay (you know, the one with the show name, progress bar, and back and subtitle buttons) absolutely will not go away. I have pressed every button on the remote and I absolutely can not watch the show without the overlay. Previously, the overlay would disappear after a couple seconds. My AppleTV 4K is running the latest version of TVOS, and the latest version of the PlutoTV app. I have already tried rebooting the AppleTV to no avail. Do any other PlutoTV users have this issue? Any fixes? Pic of the glitch: https://imgur.com/a/43IjSuc UPDATE: Ok, I officially earn the "Idiot of the Day" award - by "rebooting", I really only put the Apple TV to sleep. I just got up and unplugged it and plugged it back in and - wouldn't you know it - it works fine. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Sep 2019 10:04 AM PDT I thought all I had to do was download the TVos13 beta and that Apple Arcade would be live and ready but it just says coming this fall. What is the actual release date for Apple Arcade on Apple TV? [link] [comments]
Sudden - seemingly phantom - network issues with all of my 4K Apple TVs Posted: 23 Sep 2019 06:52 PM PDT All weekend all of my Apple TVs (3) were functioning fine. And then they weren't. I have two 4K (Gen 5) models, and an older non 4K (Gen 4) model. So I was doing some painting this morning and wanted some background noise on while I worked. So I fired up one of the 4K models, and it immediately gripes about how it couldn't find the network, and every app I attempt to open is met with a screen saying it can't proceed without an internet connection. Upon checking the network settings everything seemed fine - so I presumed the issue it said it had was past the router (with the modem or provider). I hopped on my phone - it seemed to be able to find the network just fine and load everything up. My HomePod was responding to my inquiries fine, so I went and checked the other 4K and found the same issue. Then I checked the 4th gen ATV and...it worked fine? So I actually moved it to where the first 4K was and it worked fine there as well. My PC hasn't responded to any network changes, my PS4 has continued onward noticing nothing. The best I can tell there isn't a single network issue. The 4K TVs are finding the router just fine. The remote app on my phone works with both of them (and only when connected to the same 5Ghz network implying some sort of Bluetooth fill in isn't happening), and they're all three running TVOS 12.4.1 (released on August 26th), so an overnight software update doesn't appear to be the culprit...so I'm sort of at a loss on what could be causing it, or what a solution might be. Has anyone experienced something like this? I've seen where people have had various network problems...but not quite the same as this. Edit: I've also restarted both my modem, router and all three Apple TV units. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Sep 2019 06:45 PM PDT Has anyone ran into their Apple TV 4K turns on (power light turns on) but when the TV turns on to the correct input (via HDMI-CEC) and... nothing. I have to unplug the power from The back to restore functionality. I'm not on a beta. Fully updated. I'm not sure what is causing this, if the Apple TV itself is frozen, if it's a handshake issue with the HDMI-CEC. Has anyone ran into this? Any fixes? [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Sep 2019 06:34 PM PDT Is it even an option to play FIFA on the Apple TV or is it strictly restricted to iPad and iPhones? If it is allowed what is everyone's experience? [link] [comments]
So is it safe to assume PS4 remote play is coming to ATV? Posted: 23 Sep 2019 07:21 AM PDT Now with PS controllers gaining ability to play on ATV. PS4 remote play via my ATV and a PS4 controller would be awesome considering I'd be able to play off potentially the 2 (but getting a third) ATVs in my home. [link] [comments]
Siri Remote case can doesn't interfere with edge clicks? Posted: 23 Sep 2019 02:57 PM PDT I generally don't mind the Siri remote except I absolutely detest the fact that the stupid thing is basically symmetrical (even pointlessly down to the IR port on one side and Lightning port on the other). Pick it up in the dark and your only hope is fumbling your thumb around until you figure out where the volume buttons are. To that end I just slap a case on it, which also helps with grip. Only problem is that every case I've seen has a raised edge around the trackpad which makes it cumbersome to do edge-clicks (e.g., fast forward or rewind X seconds in many apps). Is there a case that doesn't have raised edges around the trackpad? [link] [comments]
Special features on certain tv shows? Posted: 23 Sep 2019 08:53 AM PDT With some huge TV shows moving to specific network streaming services, I'm thinking of keeping an eye out for them to go on sale. I've already bought a couple on sale on iTunes, Fringe and The West Wing, but I noticed neither of them come with any special features. I'm especially interested in The Office and Parks and Rec, since those are common rewatches for us and they're going to Peacock. Does anyone have these on either of the various services? And do they come with the deleted scenes, bloopers, etc? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Add movie from library to “watch next” list Posted: 23 Sep 2019 10:47 AM PDT Hey everyone, I really like the TV app, especially the "what's next" part and when in this section I can add or remove movies by long pressing the menu button and adding them to the watch list. Great think. BUT when in the library, I cannot add movies to "watch next" as the pop up menu does not appear. So I either have to search the movie via the search function and then add them (this works) or hope that it appears on the "what's next" section by itself... This seems to be a missing feature, cannot be that they did that on purpose. :/ Another thing: I can mark movies/episodes as (un)watched but there is no way to filter for unwatched content. What sense does it make then? [link] [comments] |
