    Help with Display Profile

    Hi, I want to start of by saying I'm not very tech savvy and I don't know if this subreddit is the right one for this issue. If there's somewhere else I should take this issue to, please let me know.

    I have a weird problem that I don't know how to fix. I am using a MacBook Pro with OS X Yosemite (version 10.10.5 if that's important) and I recently learned that I am able to create my own display profile. This would be very useful to me because the default display profile causes strain on my eyes and I learned I could make a custom one with different settings. However for some reason it doesn't work. Here's what I mean:

    1) I go to Settings - Displays - Color

    2) I click on Calibrate to start making my own display profile.

    3) As I am adjusting each setting, I see the effect on my screen.

    4) I finalize my new display profile but the moment it says it's done, I see the effect go away and it goes back to the default setting.

    5) I go back to the Color page and I see all the display profiles there. I see the one I made. I click on it but nothing changes, it stays the same as it did before I made it. It's as if it isn't taking into effect.

    I have a few display profiles that I guess were here before. There's the default one (Color LCD) and then there's the one I made. Then below that there's a few other ones (Adobe RGB, Generic RGB Profile, sRGB IEC61966-2.1, etc.) and whenever I click on these, I see them changing my screen. They all seem to work EXCEPT for the one I made. It looks exactly like the Color LCD profile EVEN THOUGH I saw the changes while I was making it.

    Here's what I've tried to do so far to fix this:

    1) I deleted the profile and made another one

    2) I restarted my laptop

    3) I restarted my laptop, deleted the profile, and made another one

    4) I started my laptop in safe mode and tried doing it on there (I don't know if I did this step right though)

    The only thing that made it kinda work was:

    5) I connected my laptop to my TV with an HDMI cable so that I could see my laptop screen on my TV screen. Two windows popped up on my laptop. One was the display/color page for my laptop display, and the other one was the same type of window but for my TV display. I made sure 100% that I was looking at the laptop display window. I went to the same exact color page with all of my display profiles and when I clicked on the one I made, it worked! The screen on my laptop adjusted to the setting I want it to. However, the moment I unplug my HDMI, my laptop goes back to how it was before and nothing is solved.

    My ultimate goal is to change my current gamma from 2.2 to 1.8 and the only way I seem to have learned how to do that, is by creating my own display profile. I don't know if you can edit a previously existing one. Anyway, I hope there's a solution to this.

    Is the front end of the 11 pro max meant to be flush?

    The stainless steel to the front glass doesn't feel as flush on the front as it does on the back. It looks like there is a bit of rubber that separates the edges. If I rub my finger over the edge I can clearly feel the stainless steel feels raised. Visually it looks fine. Is anyone else's perfectly flush, or can you feel the raised edge?

    Help with restoring from Time Machine after installing new SSD

    Okay so I just upgraded my HD on my MacBook Pro Mid-2012 15" to an SSD. To do this, I had to create a bootable USB Stick. I have all my files from my HD backed up to an external HD via Time Machine.

    My SSD is up and running (I'm writing this using it), but I don't have my files. So I try to just plug in my external and restore with Time Machine, but it won't let me click "Restore". So then I try booting up in safe mode and clicking "restore from Time Machine" and when I do this and select my External, and select to restore it onto my new SSD, it says "The Disk SSD will be erased". So will this erase the Mojave OS that I put onto it with the thumb drive? Will this fuck me up if I click okay?

    tl;dr how do I backup my files (from an external with Time Machine) onto my new SSD?

    New generation of Macbooks releasing soon?

    When are the new generation of Macbooks being released? I'm in need of a computer for school and I'm not sure if I should just buy a current gen MBP with the Butterfly keyboard or wait for the new models to come out. Supposedly the next gen will have a modified scissor switch keyboard.

    iCloud and Music storage help

    I have about 500+GB of music. iTunes won't recognize it album art etc, it's some pretty old stuff. Wondering if there's an iTunes cloud storage. I just want all my music that's on my Mac to be on the cloud so I can stream it to my other devices. is this possible? Not talking about local networking want to be able to stream my songs when on 3g etc.

    Before anyone suggest Apple Music, Spotify etc they don't have what I want. Just want my music.

    MacBook Pro mid 2012 running 10.12.6 stuck on rainbow/beach ball wheel after login in

    So my MacBook has been working perfectly the past few days until today (9/29/2019). I logged into the main account as normal when I noticed the rainbow wheel persist on the screen for a long time. At first I figured it was because it's an old MacBook but it has served me well all this time. I have tried safe boot but it didn't work. I my main account, 2 other accounts, and a "guest" account. So far I have been able to log into one account and my MacBook works perfectly. However, when I try my main account (admin account) after entering the password and everything loads up the rainbow wheel appears. Has anyone experienced this before? At the time of writing this I am testing out the default guest account and it works just fine. I should mentioned that the other 2 accounts are for light use like web browsing and using Microsoft office. My main account uses the most space for hard drive for storing all kinds of files and running developer applications like IDEs. Also my MacBook has 4 gb of ram and is running on an intel i5 processor.

    Is there a way to use two forms of payment for one purchase?

    I currently have $10.40 on my iTunes and i'm trying to make a $9.99 purchase. With sales tax included I don't have enough on my iTunes enough. Is there a way to do most of the payment with the iTunes and finish the last few cents with my paypal or do I have to do all with one form of payment?

    Why does my XR randomly require my Passcode with FaceID?

    2019 Macbook Pro wont stay connected to wifi

    I recently purchased a new Macbook pro to replace my 2012. It will stay connected to wifi for 15-20 mins then it will disconnect and i have to manually go back and pick the network again to connect. Its fully up to date, ive removed the network fully and re added and deleted my vpn fully from my computer. Not sure what else to do at this point.

    SSD connected to MacBook Pro via USB Enclosure not detected?

    HELP MOUSE WONT CLICK

    hi, my 2013 MacBook pros trackpad hasn't worked in two months but I've used an external mouse. Normally it's been working fine but it recently isn't able to click. I reset the PRAM a few times and it worked again, but it has started to Happen again. Any tips?

    Add GPS to HEIC photo while still keeping photo as HEIC? Photos app won’t let me...

    Have photo I took on iPhone as HEIC and didn't have GPS enabled at the time. I can add the location within the photos app on MacOS, but then it doesn't let me export the image as HEIC.

    How can I add GPS and keep the photo in HEIC format?

    ELI5 - Routine maintenance for an old MacBook Pro

    I'm a pc person and not experienced with Apple products (hence the ELI5) so please forgive me if this is a dumb question. I have a hand-me-down 2012 MacBook that was decently fast when I started using it, but it's becoming unusable because it's slowing way down. I'm sure it's because I don't know how to do basic maintenance on it. For example, on my PCs I'll remove any unneeded programs, check what's running in the background, run a CCleaner deep clean, run malware scans, and defrag. I do this regularly to keep them running happily, so I probably need a similar routine for the Apple. I know CCleaner has a Mac version but I don't know if that's the best option.

    I still struggle with basic things, like just navigating around, for example I'm used to just looking in my file system and CTRL-ALT-DLTing to check hidden running programs and memory usage. I use the built in search function to find specific programs on the MacBook but it never seems to show me everything. There's got to be a ton of crap bogging the system down but I'm not sure how to find it and deal with it. I pretty much only use the MacBook for coding so I don't want a bunch of bloat or extra programs I'll never use.

    Any suggestions to clean up my system and get it running faster, and a routine to avoid this in the future, would be awesome. Thank you!

    Problems with icloud in imac

    My iMac changed the hard drive today, I have a problem and a doubt, when I want to log in to iCloud, it does the whole process and asks me for the verification code but then nothing happens. He added that I received a keychain message about a problem as well. The question is because it does not let me select the account when I turn on the computer and I must write the name and password.

    Rest loop when installing high Sierra from usb

    MacBook 2010 8 gig with 500 mb HD

    Decided to do a clean install. Restarted in recovery mode. Wiped HD and then tried to install Lion but says it is not available. So I downloaded high Sierra and made a bootable usb and when I reboot and click install I get the progress bar for 5 seconds and then it restarts and continues in a loop.

    I have tried resetting Using cmd-option-p-r and I've also repaired the HD with Zero issues.

    Recommendations?

    Upgrading laptop

    Instant Hotspot doesn’t seem to work anymore

    Personal Hotspot works when you flip the switch on for that.

    I'm talking about Instant Hotspot. Where you can leave Personal Hotspot switched off, but devices using the same Apple ID have hotspot available— just click on the hotspot name.

    So it was working like this, but somewhere between getting an iPhone 11 and updating my iPhone and iPad Pro to iOS 13, I lost Instant Hotspot. Personal hotspot still works.

    How can I fix this? WiFi and BT are on. Thanks.

    Beats X wont update or turn on. What do i do?

    When i plug them in they flash red and white. I saw online you need to update them and when i try it stops in the middle of the update. Are they just broken now or can i do something else?

    iOS 13 Update on iTunes even when on Latest Update

    My iOS 13 Share Sheet experience is just awful. Can anyone help improve it?

    I've just upgraded to iOS 13.1.1 on a new iPhone XR. Overall it's a great experience, with one exception: sharing photos.

    When I go to Photos and tap on a photo, I get this:

    • A list of 12 people I sent messages to sometime in the past, maybe six months or a year ago.

    • A list of apps: AirDrop, Messages, Mail, Notes, Reminders, Kindle, Skype, Signal, etc.

    • A huge list of actions: Add to Album, Duplicate, Hide, Slideshow, AirPlay, Use as Wallpaper, Save as Video, Copy iCloud Link, Copy Photo, Create Watch Face, Save to Files, Assign to Contact, and Print.

    You know what isn't there? What isn't anywhere in that list? Sending the photo to my wife. The contact card that's the very first item in my Favorites list. The person I text with, including send photos to, more than everyone else combined.

    Her contact card doesn't ever show up in the list of people in the Share Sheet. There's no way to create a Shbare Sheet shortcut for her. And there's no way to remove any of those Share Sheet apps or 13 built-in actions, either.

    This is the worst UI experience I've had with any Apple product in the last several years. All these dozens of options, tons of chrome and clutter... yet the iPhone Share Sheet "intelligent recommendations" can't figure out the one goddamn thing I do probably 80% of the time I share a photo, and it can't let me pin an option for that anywhere, which is apparently vastly less important than "Create Watch Face" (even though I don't own an Apple Watch).

    Anybody have any recommendations for customizing this "feature" to make it less stupid?
