Posted: 30 Aug 2019 07:59 PM PDT I can't seem to get AirPrint to work consitantly. I even went as far as replacing my cheaper Samsung printer with a new brother one.....after some time....the printer just stops showing up as available. I can't seem to figure out why. Does anyone have any trouble shooting tips? [link] [comments]
Rapportd message keeps popping up on my Macbook? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 07:54 PM PDT The message from Norton is: "the computer ____" is attempting to access rapportd on your computer." Followed by options of "accept" and "block". I always click deny, as I don't know what it is. I've tried looking it up but there isn't a clear solution. Some people say it is due to Norton (which i have). How do I fix the message from popping up every two minutes? do I deny or allow it? [link] [comments]

[Catalina] "sh would like to control this computer using accessibility features" ?! Posted: 30 Aug 2019 04:35 AM PDT Is this normal? I usually don't worry about stuff like this, but it makes me nervous when I google "sh would like to control this computer using accessibility features" I guess this is some bash script trying to do something with elevate privs? Makes me kind of uncomfortable. [link] [comments]
AirPlay display mirroring: Does a discrete GPU make for a smoother experience? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 11:37 AM PDT Title. Do Macs that have a discrete GPU have a smoother AirPlay display mirroring experience than those with only integrated Intel graphics? For example, does the GPU handle the primary display and the integrated graphics chipset handle the AirPlay display when both are present? I'm using my wife's 2018 MBP right now that only has integrated graphics and display mirroring is frustrating to use. The mouse is laggy/choppy but videos are fine. I have a 4x4 MIMO AP in my room with the broadcast strength at a reasonable level and a direct line of sight between all the hardware (AP, ATV, MBP). Thanks for any insight! [link] [comments]
Mail.app edit email filter address Posted: 30 Aug 2019 12:39 PM PDT Is there a function on Mail.app where you can edit the from field when composing a message to add +test@gmail.com? Lets say the account I'm using is example@gmail.com, but I want to send the email from the + filter email, such as example+test@gmail.com. [link] [comments]
What's going to happen to my 2011 MacBook Air when Catalina is released? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 06:09 PM PDT I have a 2011 MacBook Air. I am running High Sierra 10.13.6, My reminders app is no longer synching on the Air because I decided to put the public beta on my phone to see what the fuss was about. Got me to thinking...what is going to happen to my laptop when Catalina is released with regard to iTunes and that Reminders application? My understanding is Catalina will have separate Music and TV apps and also have the new reminders application. I can't upgrade to Catalina. Laptop is too old. Am I out of luck? Will I lose access completely to Apple Music? I can't find anything that explains what will happen to my iTunes application and the Reminders application. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Aug 2019 08:39 AM PDT I'm on Mojave on my Early 2015 MBP and I went to download Xcode (I just got it) and realized I don't have 10.14.3, just 10.14, and there are no updates available when I check in System Settings? I downloaded the 10.14.3 update file from Apple, but now I'm nervous. Am I not supposed to run this? [link] [comments]
How to map the F-keys on a Windows keyboard? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 08:21 AM PDT Hello, I could need some help with my keyboard. I'm using a Windows keyboard attached to my MacBook Pro and I was wondering how I can configure the F-keys on top of the keyboard. Actually I just want to be able to use them for stuff like adjusting brightness, switching between my open desks and stuff like that, but I have absolutely no idea how to do that. In the system settings, I can only remap cmd, shift, etc., so I'd be very happy for some help! [link] [comments]
Does macOS need any kind of virus/malware protection or maintenance software? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 02:09 PM PDT I've been using a MacBook for quite a while now, and it's awesome, but I really want to keep my Mac in top shape. Some people say Macs don't get viruses, some people say that's bullsh*t. So far, I've never used any type of virus protection and nothing's gone wrong, but I think maybe I should install one. Also, applications like Ccleaner and Onyx, are they any good on Mac? I am aware that there are tons of opinions on this, but I'm really curious what Reddit thinks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Aug 2019 05:31 AM PDT So, I've got a Macbook Pro 2017 running the latest beta version of CatalinaOS (I'm the only administrator of this personal laptop). Now I'm trying to install a system-wide audio equaliser called EQMAC2 (been using it for a couple years now), however I always get the same error when I try installing the driver. It tells me that I have to change my security settings to allow apps to be installed from 'Appstore or identified developers' which I have already done. When I clicked on the 'try again' button, It still didn't work and again after I changed the setting to 'Anywhere' Reference image: https://imgur.com/qPHTPOH Any ideas? I really want to continue using this app as I haven't ever found one as good, but I also don't want to leave CatalinaOS.. [link] [comments]
Open with selected mail client Posted: 30 Aug 2019 06:26 AM PDT Is there any apps or such that will give a popup when clicking a mail link to select which mail client you want to open it the ink with ? two mail clients for different purposes makes is annoying when dealing with links. I could just switch completely to outlook for my regular daily mails to I suppose but... I found this https://apps.apple.com/ch/app/open-with-browser-mail-client-gmail-picker/id1247176246?l=en&mt=12 but it has terrible ratings and seems unsure if it works with Mojave and Catalina. Shortcut to select the first file or folder in the current Finder view? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 08:05 AM PDT When I need to deal with a lot of files and folders in Finder (selecting, copying, moving, renaming, etc.) I usually prefer to do stuff with the keyboard only. With Home If I'm not mistaken, I accidentally found a shortcut like this some time ago, so I'm fairly confident it actually exists.. but I can't remember it anymore. Any help? Thanks [link] [comments]

Files keep re-appearing after deletion and app uninstallation Posted: 30 Aug 2019 05:07 AM PDT https://i.imgur.com/utmGFOg.png There are a few files on my computer that keep coming back no matter how many times I delete them. For example I have uninstalled Steam, and removed all traces from my HD, yet this folder keeps returning time and time again. Can someone please help me resolve this issue? [link] [comments]
QuickLook jumps down multi-page PDFs in Mojave Posted: 30 Aug 2019 07:14 AM PDT Ever since day one of Mojave (I am on 10.14.6 now), I have had this issue when using QuickLook on multiple PDFs that have more than one page. When you arrow through the PDFs while viewing with QuickLook, the view will jump down in the first page of the PDFs about a inch or more. See my screen recording for a better explanation. As you can see I have three PDF documents. If I click on each individually and exit QuickLook, there is no problem (however I have seen this issue on individual views many times as well). Then when I click on Document 1 and arrow down while staying in QuickLook, Document 2 and 3 will display scrolled down the page to bullet #3. I can page up while in QuickLook, but then if I arrow down again to that same PDF, it will be scrolled down again. So far I have tried deleting ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.QuickLookDaemon.plist and created a second macOS user and the problem remains. Has anyone else experienced this behavior with QuickLook?
