How to sync Mail app on a proxy network? Posted: 08 Aug 2019 02:36 AM PDT Hello! I need some help here with the network settings. I'm using an MBP 2017 version, Mojave 10.14.6 MacOS. Our institute has proxy only on HTTP and HTTPS. What works: Universal Clipboard What doesn't work: Continuity between iPhone 6s iMessage app, Tableau Desktop, Spotify, Mail App My main concern is the Mail app since I can use mobile data to run Tableau since I don't use it often. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Aug 2019 02:59 PM PDT So last week I updated my late-2011 MacBook Pro with the latest security patch from Apple (2019-004). It was released twice to fix an issue and I installed the second version, having not been around when the first one was released and subsequently pulled. Ever since then I've been having more and more issues with my MacBook, where it's now getting to the unusable stage. This issues I have encountered are as follows: Apps refusing to open (two bounces in the dock and then closing) Safari initially worked but could not load in my history but it now just beachballs and can't even load my homepage Apps will close at random (Google Drive, Twitterrific, Adobe CC to name a few) Being told I can't download files because I don't have enough storage available (I have plenty) The whole system will freeze up, Finder will become unresponsive and it refuses to relaunch All my app folders in Launchpad have been reset I know this seems like a lot of issues to have been caused by a simple security update but if anyone has any other suggestions as to why this is happening and if there's any way to resolve the issues then please let me know! Installed new SSD in mid-2014 MBP and Windows 10 crashes if I unplug the laptop charger. Posted: 07 Aug 2019 10:22 AM PDT Hardware: CPU: 3 GHz Intel Core i7 GPU: Intel Iris 1536 MB RAM: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 SSD recently installed: ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB Motherboard/Laptop model: MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) Screen(s) Number: 1 Screen(s) Resolution: 2560 x 1600 Retina Audio Codec: Unsure Ethernet Card: None Wifi/BT Card: Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x112) - Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (7.77.61.2 AirPortDriverBrcmNIC-1305.8) What guide/tool I followed: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/upgrading-2013-2014-macbook-pro-ssd-to-m-2-nvme.2034976/ What part I got an issue with: The new SSD is working great on MacOS Mojave 10.14.6. The issue arises on Windows 10 - I have tried with various different versions with the same result. And by THE issue I mean this is the only issue I have had, but it is a serious one. If I am running Windows 10 and I unplug my laptop charger, the screen freezes for around 10 seconds and then I get a BSOD (saying CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED). If I do not plug back in the charger, Windows 10 will restart, freeze again on the login screen, and then crash with the same error. If I keep the charger plugged in, there are no issues. If I unplug the charger while running MacOS, there are no issues. NOTE: I am using a bootcamp installation workaround from the above guide. It worked as intended. "Here are the two recommandations to Install BootComp with success on a MacBook Air / Pro with a NVMe SSD : leave the Magsafe charger plugged in during the whole installation process (don't run on battery) When you see the error pop-up, "The Computer restarted unexpectedly....", please do the following : 1. Press Shift + F10 keys. 2. Launch "regedit". 3. Find this directory, "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Status\ChildCompletion" 4. Once you can see "setup.exe" in the right section, double-click it and modify the value to 3. 5. Close the regedit. 6. Reboot" I realize that this is a very specific issue, but if anyone has ideas I would really appreciate it. I can also supply various config files or images if requested but at this point I'm not sure what would be useful. [link] [comments]

MacOS Catalina Public Beta 4 - Photos App "doesn't support current library file" Posted: 07 Aug 2019 10:21 AM PDT Hello All, I have an issue after updating to the latest beta 4. The previous beta was working fine and I did not have any issues with the Photos app. However, after the update, the Photos app no longer shows my library, even after re-selecting the file using OPTION + opening Photos app. Does anyone else have this issue? I have a lot of photos of my family there and would be very upset if something were to happen to those files. Worst case scenario, I would probably try downgrading back to Mojave. Thanks for your help! [link] [comments]
Developers! Is there a way to create an app that is an additional desktop / space? Posted: 07 Aug 2019 08:59 AM PDT Hello! Developing a mac desktop app, and I'm wondering if it's possible to an option to it that makes it act as an additional "space" / virtual desktop? Similar to how you can enable the old Dashboard and have it act as an additional virtual desktop slot. Haven't had much luck searching online, so hoping some more experienced mac developers could chime in on if this is possible or not? Additionally, would it be possible to wrap another app and put it on that space sort of like a widget from the old dashboard? Seems like the dashboard is being phased out, so developing a widget for something that's going away probably isn't worthwhile. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Resizing Chrome window being super laggy. Posted: 07 Aug 2019 11:53 AM PDT It seems that GPU doesn't respond fast enough. Any fix? Running 10.14.5 on a hackintosh with Vega 64 [link] [comments]

[macOS High Sierra] Password only works on the first screen despite resets Posted: 07 Aug 2019 04:58 AM PDT So I'm having an issue with my password, that I don't seem to find a precedent for online. When I type in my password on the first screen (which I believe is used to decrypt the HD), it works fine. But when I move on to the second (which iirc is the login screen) the exact same password doesn't work. I've tried to reset it from recovery mode, and it recognizes my correct password when I do so, but no matter how many times I reset the password, the problem is still there. The new passwords will work on the first login screen, but never the second. [link] [comments] |
