iPhone & iPad Pro not syncing with MacOS Catalina Posted: 05 Jul 2019 01:14 AM PDT I downloaded the public beta and now when I try to sync either my iPhone XsMax or iPad Pro, they will attempt to load in Finder, but then it remains blank. I know it's being read because it says iPhone/iPad in sidebar and Dropbox will look for photos. Otherwise, nothing. [link] [comments]
Latest Mojave update has bricked MBP? Posted: 05 Jul 2019 01:14 AM PDT Anyone else know issues surrounding this? I did the update last night and since then my macbook pro 2018 has sluggish and next to unusable. I reset the mac and my user profile was gone, and I'm trying to make a new one: it fails. I try to sign into my apple id: it fails. At this point I can't even get to desktop As far as 3rd party apps go I haven't got much: cheatsheet, chrome, and Microsoft office Can someone please help? My nearest genius bar is 2 hours away and I only use this laptop for work. How can one update have fucked up a computer so bad? edit: So after not working for 12 hours I just did what must be the 15th restart while trying to figure this out and everything has gone back to normal. Utterly confused. The problem seems to have solved itself, somehow. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ [link] [comments]

I need to know where saved emails are stored on my mac so that I can retrieve the deleted ones, using Time Machine. Thanks! [link] [comments]
2011 MacBook Pro Battery Recommendations Posted: 04 Jul 2019 04:40 PM PDT Can anyone recommend a battery other than an ifixit battery to install in the 2011 MacBook Pro? Their brand seems to have only lasted a little less than a year. I noticed I'm getting a service battery notification now. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Jul 2019 12:57 PM PDT Hey guys! Just grabbed a 2019 MacBook Pro, wondering what you guys do to get the best from your machines and what to install to best optimise it for developing and general life? [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Jul 2019 03:57 PM PDT When I installed Catalina public beta, I thought it would be great. But when it installed, I found my desktop folder GONE with no way to make a new one or recover the old one. So I reset it and made the mistake of formatting to APFS encrypted, case sensitive. When I tried to disable filevault, it did nothing. I had to use diskutil to decrypt it. I couldn't open disk utility (recovery mode) until I decrypted the disk. And when I reset it, I found a partition with all of my data before I reset it. I had to fully reset the volume and I wouldn't recommend upgrading to the beta until everything is fixed and streamlined. Sorry if what I said didn't make sense. [link] [comments]
Wired Transfers Between Devices Posted: 04 Jul 2019 03:39 PM PDT So i know that on occasion, JPG and MP3 files can degrade under certain circumstances. Is it possible to transfer an mp3 file or a JPG formatted image from a computer directly to a phone and back to the computer using a wired connection without degrading the quality? Can I copy my Mac’s files from Recovery mode’s Disk Utility? Posted: 04 Jul 2019 03:28 PM PDT Hi. So, I recently updated my Macbook Pro 13' to Catalina PB 2, and it bricked my laptop. I'm not sure how it happened, but now I can't log in and can't even boot Safe Mode. I can, however, access Disk Utility through Recovery mode. Unfortunately, I didn't back up my laptop because honestly, I'm kind of an idiot. I tried reinstalling macOS Catalina, but I can't because there is not enough space on my "Macintosh HD" to do so. I would like to know if it's possible to make a copy of my Mac's HD before erasing the whole thing and starting over. I wouldn't really lose a lot by erasing the laptop, but it would be a complete pain in my ass to have to start from scratch. I'm wondering if I'm able to plug an external hard drive to my Mac and copy my Mac's HD Image to the external drive before erasing it. If I can do that over Disk Utility in Recovery Mode, I would be all set to start over. Thanks [link] [comments]
How to "create" TB3 on a Trashcan MacPro for connection to an external SSD Posted: 04 Jul 2019 10:40 AM PDT I have an external SSD that is throttled by USB3's 5Gbit/sec, so would like to connect it TB2. It has a TB3/USB3.1 port ONLY, and that's the problem: it expects power over the TB3 port. I have the Apple TB2 <-> TB3 adapter, but there's no provision for power injection. If they had a USB power on it, you could plug it into power and it could provide (at least some) over the USB-C port, but they don't. Does anyone make such an adapter? Or better yet, how to connect an M.2 NVMe SSD to a MacPro at 10 Gbit or better? That's all that fundamentally matters to me. Thanks! [link] [comments]
iMac Keeps Getting Rainbow Of DEATH Posted: 04 Jul 2019 01:00 PM PDT I keep getting the rainbow of death on my cpu at random times even when I have as little as one or two programs open. I constantly have to reboot and force quit out of programs and browsers in order to use my cpu.
Is there anything I can do to fix this issue? Specs Mojave 10.14.5 iMac 27 inch Late 2013 I have 677GB of hard drive space left 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4 GB [link] [comments]
ASAP Mac won't prompt location access for chrome HELP! Posted: 04 Jul 2019 12:36 PM PDT So I got a new 2014 air and I downloaded chrome, come to find out the google maps site, tinder, Facebook, anything can't see my location even though I have allowed the site in the browser. All these sites work fine for Firefox and safari, when those browsers asked for location the Mac brought up a prompt asking me to allow it and they work perfect. Chrome I just can't figure out, I've uninstalled it and reinstalled, the promos just never comes up its really messing up my work and no one on the google side is any help, [link] [comments]
Mac needs 15 minutes to restart after failed update download Posted: 04 Jul 2019 06:07 AM PDT So after I started the update, it went to restart my mac, and right after it told me that I don't have enough free disk space, so it went and cancelled the update. Then it showed a progress bar with 15 minutes of wait time. What's it doing in that time? [link] [comments]
Logitech Control Center never works after reboot? Posted: 04 Jul 2019 08:10 AM PDT This has been an issue for me since forever, but since Logitech Control Center (for my wireless mouse) is updated regularly there's no way it's been broken for EVERYONE for ever. I've had this issue beyond Mojave, honestly as far back as I can recall. But after I reboot my system, LCC doesn't recognize any devices as being plugged in, so I need to unplug and re-plug the USB stick. The USB is in the back of my monitor, connected to my laptop with USB-C here's what I get Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?? edit: even after uninstalling the mouse software and starting from scratch, its the same deal. Reboot shows the mouse isn't there until I reseat the USB. However, if I click to see paired devices, it shows my mouse listed and is able to read the battery level and firmware, so it's recognizing it no problem and the USB stick works. (side note: I've tried multiple logitech USB receivers, so it's not a hardware fault) Is there a way to simulate unplugging and replugging a USB stick on Mac? Anything is better than giving my monitor a reach-around every time I need to reboot my system. [link] [comments]
MBP 2015's Google Maps can't find location Posted: 04 Jul 2019 06:49 AM PDT I'm trying to use Google Maps via Chrome on my MBP, but it can't find my location for an unexplained reason. My location services are on in my Mac's settings as far as I can tell, and Maps has access to my location. What could be the problem? [link] [comments] |
