Apple Macbook So I have been waiting for the release of macbook pro 2019, the cheapest baseline but it feels like a month now and checking it constantly but they are still not selling it in Philippines. Chatted through online but got “we don’t know”. What do you think this is? Are they delaying it in purpose?

Issue with screen turning off at certain angle - A1502

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 12:34 AM PDT

Hey as the title says I have an issue with the screen turning off at certain angle past usually about 30 degrees from closed. Some times its works when opened but it's very intermittent, there is no issue with the screen, it works fine other than this issue and one singular dead pixel. I have a 2014 MacBook Pro Retina 13", I've read that the new models have a flex gate issue, but i have the previous MacBook, I'm wondering whether this is due to a "MacBook Pro Retina (2012-2015) Display LVDS Cable" or the whole screen needs to be replaced.

    thank you in advanced

Best Case for 2019 MBP 13 w/ Touchbar

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 10:19 AM PDT

I just replaced my 2010 MBP with the new MBP 13". My old MacBook had several dents and scratches which I'd like to avoid with my new one. I searched this sub but most recommendations were fairly old. Can anyone recommend a sleek yet durable case for me? I'd like to stay under $100.

Question about the new baseline MacBook Pro 13"

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 10:47 PM PDT

Is it semi fanless? That is, only 2017 MacBook Pro 13" (as far as I know) had passive cooling (when under light load – fan would be off). 15" models always had their fans at 2000 rpm. Seeing that they upgraded the processor, I was wondering...

How to completely delete an app?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 12:53 PM PDT

I understand that you can simply delete the app using the applications folder + emptying the trash. However, deleted apps still leave traces on your hard drive.

How do I completely delete an app and all of its files?

My 13" MBP from 2013 died - looking to purchase a new one. Would you get the 2019 MBP or a great condition 15" from 2017 with better specs?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 03:57 AM PDT

Hey all! Struggling to decide on this myself - would love any input from this community.

A couple days ago my MBP from 2013 died and I am looking to grab a new Macbook Pro. My 2013 laptop had a 128GB SSD and 4GB of RAM.

I am tossing up between the new base model MBP with a 256GB SSD + 8GB of RAM, or a really great condition 15" MBP from 2017 that has a 256GB SSD and 16GB of RAM that I've found for the same price.

I do lots of music production as well as video editing/graphics work and would really love a somewhat future-proofed device that I could easily use for the next 6 years. The 15" screen isn't a necessity, but I no longer have a desktop PC, so this will be my main and only machine & I think it would be a bonus for video/graphics work.

Any opinions are welcome and thank you in advance for your time!

2017 Pro lid doesn't sit right

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 06:54 PM PDT

Had a bit of an issue come up tonight with my 2017 Pro, it was open and someone fell over the couch and onto the computer. Noticed that when closing the lid, the right side sits flush but the left end has a slight gap. Also when opening the lid it gives a little bit of tension, like its rubbing up on something and coming unstuck. Is this an issue with the hinge? Or something else entirely?

    Which upgrade would be better?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 12:48 PM PDT

I was looking for a used macbook when the Apple back to school program came out, so I'm now going for a Macbook Pro 2019 base model.

Though I'm thinking about taking one upgrade. What should it be? 8GB -> 16GB of RAM or 128GB -> 256GB of SSD?

I already have external drives. I'm going to use it as a student (internet, notes) and to code.

    Durable Case/Keyboard Cover Recommendations?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 02:46 PM PDT

I've had my MacBook Air (13-inch, early 2015) for a few years now, and after a scare with a water bottle spill (which I caught immediately and my laptop survived unharmed, thankfully) I decided it was time to get a case and a keyboard cover. About a year ago, I ordered a Mosiso brand case and keyboard cover off of Amazon for ~$14. Well, now half of the bumpers have fallen off of the bottom the case, the shell has cracked a place or two around the edges of my MacBook, and the keyboard cover has wrinkled up a little bit. For that reason, I'm looking at purchasing another case and keyboard cover in the near future. Anyone have any recommendations for what case has lasted them the longest and what keyboard cover has held up the best and has the best performance? I have in the past used my MacBook in place of my physical notebook to take notes in classes where the professor speaks too quickly and has jam-packed lectures, so I definitely want a keyboard cover that isn't too soft, won't wrinkle or come up easily, or affect my ability to type quickly when I need to.

Could you help me choose between the two? I need something that can take photoshop and a professional video editor. I’m wondering why a 2014 model and a 2016 model are almost the same price.

Macbook Pro Starts to black screen

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 04:25 PM PDT

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this but my macbook pro has been giving me problems lately.

Some background info I'm not sure is relevant: It's an older model (2011 or 2013 I think) and it's gotten a lot of use over the years. It's been telling me that the battery needs to be replaced soon for a while, but I live nowhere near an apple store. The screen sometimes goes black when a USB is connected, but it comes right back and stays when the USB is taken out and put back in, and does not happen often.

Onto the start of the problem. A couple weeks ago my macbook went to sleep at around half battery and would not wake. I shut it down and restarted it to find a completely black screen. The backlights were on, and the volume, caps lock and keyboard brightness button were all responsive. I kept restarting it, and eventually it started up with the same black screen, but a responsive cursor. I found an article that told me to press Shift + Control + Option + Power, so I did and it actually seemed to boot the laptop normally. Fast forward a few days and the same thing happened, without the responsive cursor. I just closed it and went to work. When I got home it was still black, but I restarted it a few more times and eventually it booted up normally.

My problem now is that two days ago it did the same thing. It went to sleep and would not wake, and when I restart it just shows the lit up black screen. Caps lock is still responsive, but the keyboard brightness does not seem to be. Booting in safe mode and recovery mode do nothing. I tried the S+C+O+P trick again, both by pressing them for a long time without it booting, and by booting it up normally after holding them down for a while, which just boots to the same black screen. I've been looking for possible answers but most of the answers seem to require inputting things into the computer, which I can't do. It still charges my phone, and other accessories, and it's definitely on and semi-responsive.

Sorry for the wall of text, if this is the wrong place for this question please let me know where to post it. I'm well over an hour from the nearest store, and I don't have a backup for the computer (stupid me.)

Can't connect MacBook 2015 to monitor

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 02:38 PM PDT

    Hey everyone

So today I picked up a USB C hub/HDMI adapter from Hama to connect my MacBook to a monitor however it's not working. I literally tried everything, 5 cables, numerous software workarounds (displaylink driver , options key in display settings) but there is just absolutely no image. I'm taking back the adapter tomorrow to the shop but probably someone knows a solution. Did I buy the wrong adapter? I don't understand.

PS: the USB ports are working , but I can't get the HDMI to display

Obvious PSA but remember to always have your data backed up

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 02:30 PM PDT

I went into my local Apple Store last Friday to get my 2018 13" MBPs keyboard replaced. Usually, this takes a day at most but because I hadn't received an update I decided to call today and ask for one. So I was told that during the repair process my logic board was damaged and they have to order one to replace it. So basically if I didn't have my data backed up I would've lost everything. So yeah, remember kids always back up your data cause you never know.

    Advice/help

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 12:54 PM PDT

First time posting here so sorry if this is the wrong place to ask. Just after a bit of help as wanting to sell my MBP.

    So I have a 2017, 13" MBP. Says it's 120GB HD.

My up and down arrow keys are near enough broken - Have to press super hard to get to them to work (didn't bother me much). Some of the other keys can be fairly difficult to press but then other days they'll be fine. I did read up that these did suffer issues regarding keyboards.

I'm wondering if anyone could roughly tell me a price that it would be worth to try and sell for? Don't like to be that person who sells and also asks for offers.

Any help is appreciated. Obviously it does have wear (minor marks, but nothing on the screen mainly on the back near the Apple logo).

    Thanks :)

EDIT: It comes with original box and charger.

    Kernel_task

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 08:36 AM PDT

Hello guys, I need some help

I have MacBook Pro 15 2018 i7 with 16Gb ram and 512 SSD. Currently I have some issues with using my Mac.

While I am working I have 10 opened apps like (3 safari instances, 2 RDP connections, 5 terminal instances etc.)

Some while ago I started to face kernel_task problem when making any operations with big files (more than 1Gb). When I am downloading file or uploading, coping from external disk on Mac etc my Mac starts freezing and I see kernel_task using CPU on 600-700%. While this happens CPU temperature is 60-70 degree's and fans are working on max speed.

    What I did:

    - At first I made SMC reset, and just after I did it my pc stopped launching (Apple logo freeze) and I was made to reinstall Mac OS from backup.

    - Then I made full reinstall of OS, SMC reset and NVRAM, and configured OS in different way.

    But problem was not solved(

    - I run SSD health restore, but it said that everything is file

    2008 Macbook

    2008 Macbook

I've never owned a Macbook before but I found an old one as I was helping my uncle going trough his old stuff when he was moving and he said if I could get it to work again I could keep it, so I tried. It is a late 2008 white Macbook with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4gb of DDR3 RAM, and Geforce 9400M Graphics (which has 256 of VRAM). The laptop was in overall good condition after wiping the body and keyboard areas. Another issue was that the battery is in replace now condition which we are getting a new one. The part which i'm stuck at is the OS. When I got the computer it had MAC OSX Maverick installed on it, about after an hour of googling I found out the newest OS version that Apple officially supported was OS X El Capitan so I installed it. When it was done installing I downloaded Chrome and that worked fine as I downloaded things like Spotify. Although when I go to the app store whenever I try to download any app as far as i've tried it gives me the issue that a version above mine is required(I will post screenshots). When I go in to the updates tab however it says the version I have installed of El Capitan which is 10.11.6. Could someone please help me find out how to update to that level and be able to download off of the app store. Thanks for taking your time to read this!

How to change MAC address on MacBook Pro running Mojave?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 07:34 AM PDT

I'm trying to diagnose/test some MAC address related features on my router, and it would really help if I could change the WiFi MAC address on my MBP. All the Google results suggest that I should be able to use the command

    sudo ifconfig en0 ether 11:22:33:44:55:66

(using the desired MAC address) after disabling the existing connection. But that doesn't seem to work no matter what I try, whether from my admin account or the root account.

    Any suggestions?

    2013 Anti-Reflective Coating

    Posted: 22 Jul 2019 09:44 AM PDT

I just acquire a Mid-2014 13" Macbook Pro, it has the coating coming off pretty significantly, i mean it does affect the use at all, but it just bugs me out and make anxious by looking at it. I read about the Apple free replacement for this issue but it says it only recalls models within 4 yours of purchase or release, so by that i guess I'm out. Are there any other options? i saw a video of some dude removing the whole coating with listerine and nail polish but i dont know if it's safe or will it have some side effects later on, so thats that:(
