Choosing Apple accesories over other brands Posted: 10 Jun 2019 06:08 PM PDT Hello everyone, First-time poster here. I live in Mexico, a country where buying Apple products is quite costly. My first iPhone ever (and current one) is my iPhone 8 Plus and I enjoy using it every day. This past weekend I lost my whole charger (adapter and cable) and today I went to the mall to buy the replacement, thinking it was better for me to choose other brands that are less costly. However, I ended up buying the 12W Apple adapter and Apple cable and ended up costing way more than intended. My rationale is that being an official Apple product they are of great quality and will last, as well as being certain that I am taking good care of my phone with this decision (my case and screen protector are generic, but when it comes to directly affecting the phone's performance, I stuttered and chose these). Are Apple products really worth it over other ones, though? Would I have been better off buying an Apple-certified much-cheaper adapter and charger from another manufacturer like Puregear? What has been your experience with Apple's and other brands' products that you could compare? [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Jun 2019 08:08 AM PDT As said in the title. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I wondered why my 6GB data cap burned so fast in the last months, and after resetting the statistics, found out it was the Music app. On a whim, I disabled streaming over cellular connections. Some days later, I was listening to some music I downloaded, when it abruptly stopped. I checked my phone, and suddenly the entire "downloaded music" section was gone. Maybe this was because I had no space left on my phone, and it tried to free some space - but I had "optimize storage" off too, so it shouldn't have happened. Even better, after restarting the app, it started silently downloading everything it just deleted again, on my cellular connection, without notifying me. Edit: Running iOS 12.3.1 on an iPhone 6s TL;DR: Apple Music is broken, and technically cost me 30€ by wasting nearly 10 out of 12 GB of my quota over the last two months. [link] [comments]
Apple Magic Keyboard and Touch ID Posted: 11 Jun 2019 12:54 AM PDT Since I got my MacBook Pro a couple mounth ago, I just love the Touch ID feature. It is just so convenient. I am currently planning to get a iMac Pro, but I found that there is currently no Magic Keyboard with a Touch ID system integrated. I was expecting this to be announced with the Mac Pro, but no news here. I saw this reddit post which shows a pretty nice design of a potential Magic Keyboard with TouchBar and Touch ID. I am sure that Apple has been thinking about this integration, but two major questions here :
A solution I see would be to release two Magic Keyboard :
Any thoughts about this? [link] [comments]

Hidden feature of pressure touch while web browsing on Safari (on mobile) Posted: 10 Jun 2019 03:11 AM PDT I'm not sure if anyone already realized this so if it's common knowledge let me know and I'll take this down, but on websites that force you to log in when you try to navigate to a different page from the one you originally visited, (Quora for example) if you instead hard pressure touch the link to have it open a preview and continue to hold it so the page fully loads, it will load that page as a new instance and you will not be prompted to log in. I figured this may be useful to some lurkers such as myself! [link] [comments] |
