macOS Mojave 10.14.5 (18F132) is out! Posted: 13 May 2019 06:15 PM PDT OverviewThe macOS 10.14.4 SDK provides support for developing apps for Macs running macOS Mojave 10.14.5. The SDK comes bundled with Xcode 10.2.1 available from the Mac App Store. For information on the compatibility requirements for Xcode 10.2.1, see Xcode 10.2.1 Release Notes.AccessibilityResolved IssuesThe Accessibility Events switch was removed, because related aspects of the W3C AOM effort are no longer applicable. (49784417)Date and TimeNew FeaturesSupport for the Reiwa (令和) era of the Japanese calendar, which began on May 1, 2019, is now available. The first year of Japanese-calendar era is represented as "元年" ("Gannen") instead of "1年", except in the shorter numeric-style formats which typically also use the narrow era name; for example: "R1/05/01". (27323929)SecurityNew FeaturesKernel extensions signed after April 7, 2019 must be notarized in order to load on macOS 10.14.5. (50016570)Known IssuesThe system fails to register tickets stapled to installer packages not scanned by Gatekeeper, which causes newly installed kernel extensions to fail to load if Internet access isn't available. This can occur if a user launches installation from a local folder or an enterprise uses automated tools to deploy an installer. This issue doesn't affect stapled disk images, apps, or kext bundles. (50205533)Workaround: In a new folder, create a shell script named preinstall to register the stapled ticket during install: '#!/bin/sh' if [[ [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 May 2019 12:06 AM PDT Hi, I am already running Mojave 10.14, but want to do a fresh/clean install (reformat) of my MacBook, and install from a bootable USB. Usually, I simply download the OS from the App Store, it gets installed to my Applications folder, and I use Disk Creator to create a bootable USB. But when I download from the App Store now, I only have a 'GET' option and the OS downloads via the System Preferences 'Software Update' - doesn't show up in the Applications folder. Anyone have a link to a how-to for creating a bootable USB for Mojave, and to create a totally clean install? Thanks in advance. :) [link] [comments]
Anyway to disable the SpellChecking in MAC OS Mojave Posted: 14 May 2019 02:07 AM PDT I'm running Mojave 10.14.04. Although I uncheck all box in Text Setting : http://cdn.osxdaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/auto-capitalize-add-period-mac-610x531.jpg There is still red underline whenever I type things. Cant kill AppleSpell service either. I believe this is the culprit. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 May 2019 01:35 AM PDT MBP Late-2009. Whenever I start a Time Machine backup, this happens: https://i.imgur.com/uHbxhx3.png It's getting worse too. Used to just run my fan, but now the computer is almost unusable for most of the backup — which sometimes gets stuck having backed up just a few hundred MB, and hangs there for 1-2 hours before suddenly finishing the other GB or two of the backup. I know it's an old machine and an aging OS, but it's all I've got for the moment (and when I do buy, it's probably going to be a 2015, if only to avoid the butterfly keyboard), and otherwise it's still a pretty damn good daily driver. Any suggestions short of a wipe and reinstall? [link] [comments]

SystemExtr running extremely high CPU. What is it and how do I permanently delete it? Posted: 13 May 2019 09:58 PM PDT I have done some reading and seen that many people get a notification alerting them that SystemExtr has stopped working. Although mine (MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports: Mojave) does not come up with this it is still running extremely high CPU of upwards of 60-90% constantly. What does the process do? I have even read it is a malware? I have found the file in my library but afraid to delete it incase it is integral to my Mac. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 May 2019 12:04 PM PDT Hi all, I've been having an issue where my Mac will freeze after a couple hours. When it freezes, my cursor won't move and the touchpad stops clicking. The weird thing is that if I am on a video call, my screen freezes, but I can continue to talk and my webcam works for the other participants. After my call ends, I have to hard reboot the system to regain control. Plugging in a USB Mouse and trying to switch to a Bluetooth mouse does nothing. I re-installed Sierra, but the issue continues. Any thoughts on where to start troubleshooting? [link] [comments]

Is it only me or MacBooks can become slower and unstable with time? Posted: 13 May 2019 05:56 PM PDT After 10.14.4 update I noticed my MBP (2017) became a little slower and with time its condition is going worse and worse. First thing I noticed is after update my WiFi became much less stable, sometimes it looses connection and don't see my WiFi networks at all. Other devices and windows laptop has no such issues and works perfectly. I also noticed Safari became significantly slower. It was not a fastest browser before, but often when you want to switch or close a tab Safari just freezes for a couple of seconds. General performance became slower. I copied 2 GB of photos yesterday, CPU temp skyrocketed to 100C and fans immediately kicked in. Finder was unresponsive at that time. Is it only me or anyone also has this problems? Should I bring my MPB to Apple Store? Honestly, using it becomes frustrating. When I was writing my post my MPB had no internet over wifi when PC, iPhone and iPad had connection without any issue. I really like MacOS, it's ecosystem and privacy. I'm using my MBP as daily driver, but when I'm going to Windows it feels so snappy and attractive. [link] [comments]
Every time I open safari, I have to log into all my accounts again Posted: 13 May 2019 04:58 PM PDT Even if I tick "stay logged in", safari logs me out of every website when I close it. For example, I always get logged out of google (therefore YouTube and photos etc...) and have to log in each time. This is quite irritating, especially as I have to get my phone out and accept two-step verification on there - it just takes time. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 May 2019 04:11 PM PDT I posted here about a week ago when I screwed up my email (using Apple Mail) and lost 9000+ emails. I used several different rescue programs and managed to retrieve a bunch of MBOX & EMLX files, however it only gave me a couple hundred emails. So I have given up on retrieving them and am moving forward. My question is should I setup the account as IMAP or POP? I like having a permanent copies of my email locally, and in the past had always used pop with no issues. Which protocol should I use? What's more effective? Secondly should I stick with mail? It has always worked for me in the past. Please if you are going to respond please state why you would do it. Thanks to everyone that responds. Cheers! [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 May 2019 08:41 AM PDT I'm going to be a college student this fall, I don't want to spend a lot of money, but I def need a decent laptop that will last a long time. I was debating between the MacBook Air/MacBook Pro? What would you recommend for a college student? Small note: I'm a long time windows user and have never been satisfied by their products, so I will be using a MacBook for the first time. [link] [comments]
What does 'Swap Processes on Cross-Site Navigation' actually do? Posted: 13 May 2019 08:33 AM PDT I was having an issue with Google links not turning purple in Safari (except the first page after restarting safari) and found this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250260514 which fixed my issue. I was wondering if anyone could explain what exactly the Swap Processes on Cross-Site Navigation option does? I found this Document tor chromium that discusses using different processes to isolate sites but I am not 100% sure if it is the same. Thanks [link] [comments]
MacBookPro 2015, 4K monitor, slow/sluggish Posted: 13 May 2019 03:15 AM PDT I have a MBP 2015, 13inch model which is connected to my AOC 27inch 4K monitor. If I run anything other than the native resolution it machine is slow/sluggish. Switching desktop, mission control, typing etc everything is slow. I've read a lot of threads and it comes down to that everything except the native resolution puts extra stress on the GPU because of the scaling performed. But running at native resolution (1080p60 HIDPI) makes everything really big. I'm not the youngest but still don't need reading glasses. (j/k) Does anyone have a solution for this issue? Posted: 13 May 2019 04:21 AM PDT It seems to generally be when it is plugged in, and has only started recently. I have checked it is fully updated and all the basic steps, done some google searching and turned up nothing overly useful. Im hoping somebody might be able to offer me a suggestion as to what I should do. How to get permissions back permanently?? High Sierra Posted: 13 May 2019 03:59 AM PDT After a reformat and reinstall I have no permissions. I can reset them but they revert back to no permissions after restarting my laptop. I tried changing them in Terminal, Recovery Mode, Safe Mode and through Get Info and it's the same outcome every time. Any help with getting back control of my permissions would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
