Playback problems: Some programs won't play Posted: 16 May 2019 01:46 AM PDT I regulary stumble across this problem in Final Cut and IINA on my iMac (10.14.4): After using it for a while I out of a sudden cannot hit play again. In Final Cut out of a sudden and in IINA after pausing for a while. I had this problems for a few months now in Mojave and just recently also Mac Media Key Forwarder crashes. But could be this is not releated since I have this prblem on my work laptop as well. Any clue what could cause this? [link] [comments]

HELP! OS X Mountian Lion 10.6.8 to OS X El Capitan Posted: 15 May 2019 08:59 PM PDT So, I'm trying to get a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) on OS X Mountian Lion 10.6.8 to El Capitan. There seems to be some circular logic happening: No updates available so I assume I can go ahead and go to App Store and get OS X Mountian Lion 10.6.8. I press Get and put in Apple ID/Password. It says wrong information (I have iMac,Airbook and iPhone which are all under the same Apple ID. I had to take the MacBook Pro off when I got the Airbook). So, I tried to create a new Apple ID and I'm told the software update required To make changes to your payment information, you need to upgrade your Mac to the latest version of macOS. I tried getting the installer from the computer that has Mojave and it says not valid for this mac. How do I get it??? I'm lost! Thanks in advance I have seen this question in various forms but none with all of these issues. [link] [comments]
Boot windows from external hard drive with windows already installed Posted: 15 May 2019 05:38 PM PDT I was wondering if it is possible to boot windows on Mac from a drive that windows is already installed on. I know windows can be installed through boot camp(internal drive only). However I already have a drive that I use to boot windows from and was wondering if I can still use that drive on Mac or if I would have to reinstall windows on it using another method so macOS would recognize it. New to Mac. Need your help! I’m stuck on a iCloud login loop and nothings working Posted: 15 May 2019 09:44 AM PDT I tried searching for my error on the web. Realized its call the common iCloud login loop. But as common as others called it, the tactics to overcome it didn't seem as common practice to me. I'm sure my iCloud account is perfectly fine as I have no problems on my iOS device. Since I got my MacBook I've changed my email address for my iCloud account from A yahoo domanin to a new @icloud address. No problems there. I've also changed my password as I thought maybe that will work. The articles online told me to sign off iCloud on every facet that uses it on your MacBook from FaceTime to messages to iTunes. I did that but still can't login in. I'm not getting a message that says your info is incorrect but typing in the correct password I just get a reappearing loop asking me to retype my password as it's being rejected with a screen shake. I even went into my keychains and deleted anything that said ICloud then restarted. I don't have anything sensitive or important at all on my new MacBook. Can I just reset my hard drive to factory settings and try signing in then? And if that is recommend how do I reset my MacBook to factory settings? [link] [comments]
Successful deletion of News.app Posted: 15 May 2019 03:37 PM PDT So folks have posted the annoyance of Mojave's News.app and the inability to delete it. I suppose it will probably come back, but I successfully deleted it thusly: - reboot - hold down [cmd]-R in order to enter Apple Utilities - open the Utilities Terminal - note that you already are root (sharp-sign prompt) - at this point your boot drive is mounted on /Volumes (possibly /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD) and the annoying News.app can be removed by running: csrutil disable w00t! It's entirely possible that the csrutil commands are unnecessary, but my copy of News is gone now and I can't test. [link] [comments]

Restoring OS from disk utility FAILS with error 22 Posted: 15 May 2019 12:23 PM PDT Hey everyone I've been trying to use the restore function of Disk Utility to clone the HD of a MBP13" 2015 to a MBP15" 2015, to no avail. It always fails with error 22. I am using target mode Thunderbolt to feed the source to the target. I've been trying to every combinaison: mounted, unmounted, to AFPS, HFS, Uncrypted, Crypted, from the Hard Drive, from the container ... using both Network Recovery mode and a USB drive conaining the installer, running Mojave dot 4. Both laptops got Mojave installed prior to this and I assume that they got all the firmware update they need. I used to do this operation without problem in the past, always been sucessfull. What's wrong now? [link] [comments]

Do you have problem with Time Machine, Mojave and the 4TB SSD? Posted: 15 May 2019 12:00 PM PDT I'm not able to backup my mac, it never worked correctly on my mbp2018. Like all other macs i use 3x5TB and 3x8TB with 3 different user, each user has 2 disk (5 and 8tb). When i do a backup, i quit all background app and i run the terminal command for fast backup. the backup is not the problem, is more run a second or third backup on the same drive. it simply starts from 0, uploading all 4tb, instead of upload only 100gb. So for example this week i backup with user a and the 5tb, next week user b 5 tb, then user c 8 tb, etc ... i always backup one user, so i don't do user switch during backup (since those switch create problems on other macs too). The point is, i finish to backup all drives, for example 2x for the 5tb related to user a, 2x 8tb user a and 1x 5tb user b. Now i want to run the second backup on the 5tb drives related to user b, and it start from 0, instead of doing 100gb like the last backup on 8tb user a. i never connect a user a drive to user b. so all setting are perfect, and apple continue to give me problems. i clean installed all user, and after 5-6 backup it started from 0 again. i cleaned the ssd after apple store visit and restored from backup. i made a new backup from 0 after the restore, so i used other drives. after x backup it started again. Now i clean installed without any library files related, and again the same problem, it works 5-6 times and then it starts from 0 again. is really annoying, because is only a waste of time and space (is not like backup 1tb or less). Is not user related, since on every steps i did the backup from a new user "backup". Now i will try to backup all drives with the same user, but is ridiculous that i need to use only 1 user (since multiple user worked always on other macs, and for multiple user i mean different user without user switch or use/connect the same external drives on different users) i don't know if this is macos related or 4tb ssd related. So for better comparision avoid example with 512gb ssd or similar. [link] [comments]
How do I stop storage warnings? Posted: 15 May 2019 11:07 AM PDT I have a 2017 MacBook Pro with the smallest capacity hard drive (what a stupid decision on my part) and the hard drive is approaching capacity. When I have anything under 10 Gb free, I get a warning about storage literally every five seconds, and it's driving me absolutely nuts. Is there any way to change the frequency of these warnings, or the amount of space I hit before it warns me? [link] [comments]
