Should Apple make Final Cut Pro/ Logic Pro version for the iPad Pro?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 02:46 AM PDT

Personally I think if Apple make an iPad version of Final Cut or Logic for the iPad Pro, it would be great because they know how to optimise software to their hardware. But I have a feeling they won't because of Mac and MacBooks. What do you guys think?

Coming back after a few months with the Samsung Tab S4

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 12:04 PM PDT

Background: I have always preferred Android for my phones and I recently upgraded to a Samsung S10e which I adore for its smaller size and beautiful screen. I have owned iPhones in the past but I don't like the layout of the menu etc for phone purposes. I owned an iPad 2018 but decided to move to a Samsung S4 tablet a few months ago.

The Samsung tablet had DeX mode which actually when paired with a mouse is fun and reminds me of actually being on a computer, albeit a slow one. The screen was absolutely gorgeous which should come as no surprise since Samsung does know what they are doing with screens. The tablet also had fast charging and USB-C and came with the S-Pen which doesn't require charging. It seemed all too good to be true.....

    It was.

Even apps like Gmail would periodically crash for no reason. While Netflix was awesome on that bright amazing screen, I experienced frequent app crashes. The Samsung apps that I did not use but disabled would magically reappear when an update occurred (which was very infrequent....quarterly security updates it appeared....)

I love the iPad Mini and was thrilled to hear that a new version had been released. The OLED screen on the S4 actually was so vivid it caused significant eye strain when I tried to use I to read - blue light filter (Samsung's Night Shift) did not help.

I just finished setting up my new iPad Mini 5 , Apple Pencil, and Logitech Keys to Go and already I am thrilled. The size is great for reading and on a stand it's not bad to watch movies either. The True Tone LCD seems easier on my eyes than the Samsung OLED and Logi keyboard , as bad as people say it is, beats the horrid S4 keyboard over which was bulky and the keys frequently inputted the same letter repeatedly upon one key press.

While I am not excited about having to keep a Lightning cable on hand, I am happy to have a far more portable tablet that I know will be upgraded in a timely manner.

    Apple Store employees

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 12:27 PM PDT

So I should start this off by saying I love my local Apple store, They are always extremely efficient, getting me in and out quickly without fail. That being said, I am an extremely technical consumer and never go in there with questions about the products. I took my younger sister into the Apple store as she is getting ready to start her first year of college and think she could benefit greatly from having an iPad to take notes and complete schoolwork. While we were in there, one of the employees was trying to convince me that the new iPad mini have the same processor as the iPad Pro. What was even crazier, is when I was arguing that they did not in fact, have the same processor, the other employees nearby seemed equally surprised by what I was telling them. I had to actually pull up the specs on both iPad Pro and iPad mini before she was willing to even consider she was wrong, and she was still acting as if I had somehow manipulated the tech specs to prove her wrong. I wonder how common this is, has anyone else had issues with Apple employees giving misinformation?

I want to get into reading comics but don’t know where to start. Are there any good iPad apps you would recommend that don’t cost an arm and a leg?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 01:08 PM PDT

I don't really know where to begin, but I want to read more manga and comics on my lunch break. I was going to pickup the iPad mini for this purpose, but didn't know the best way to get comics. Is there an app/subscription? Any recommendations for comics to read? Thanks!

    Apps like Sketch for Mac?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 01:32 PM PDT

    Hey all,

Recently started using an iPad Pro 12.9. I really like it, and the Apple Pencil is great. One of my biggest gripes, however, is that I can't seem to find a good app that is like Sketch for Mac. For those who don't know what Sketch is, it is a basic design program that is fantastic for iOS prototyping and app design. It uses basic geometric shapes, text, and gradients. Anyone know of any apps like it? Thanks in advance for any help!

Looking for a good (college student) photographer iPad

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 08:13 AM PDT

    Hello!

My brother is a amateur photographer and he uses Lightroom and the base Apple photo editing features on his phone (IPhone 6s I believe). I know he would be better doing it on a MacBook with other big softwares but he is just starting out right now. So, I wanna get him an iPad that he can put photos on and edit from a better display. What is a good affordable iPad (mini or regular) that I can buy him for graduation? Thanks!

iPad for bed use. What are the max size for comfortable use?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 11:49 AM PDT

Does reddit have any opinions or experiences on which iPad size that would be the best and most comfortable for use when laying in bed? I currently have an iPad mini 2 that I find to be a very good size for this, but I am also thinking about the possibility to upgrade, potentially to something larger. Will I run into any comfort/ergonomic issues when using e.g. an iPad Pro 11 for prolonged amounts of time when holding it with my arms while laying in bed?

When might the 2018 iPad pros become available refurbished?

Has there been a trend in the past for when to expect certain models in the refurbished section?

11” vs 12.9” iPad Pro. Which one should I get?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 05:00 AM PDT

Hey guys. I'm really stuck between the two. I'm going to be using it for school to study and take some notes. I will also be watching a lot of videos and browsing. Price is a non factor for me. I'll be getting the pencil and won't be using the keyboard a lot. I don't mind paying for the extra cost for the size. So it just comes down to convenience. Those of you who switched from bigger to small and vice versa. Can you please chime in. Thanks!

Do I need an IPad Pro or IPad?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 07:39 PM PDT

So I have a MacBook Pro 2013 and an iMac that's so old it won't update software anymore but it still works. I am a working adult and seeing a coworker using it for notes directly onto files that I printed out and pen and papered it made me so jealous! I have multiple binders and many papers with all kinds of notes.

My question is am I just wanting the latest and greatest or is it worth the cost?

Help! I purchase an 11” Pro which I love, but it has thrown a wrench in my charging station euphoria!

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 06:21 PM PDT

So yesterday I got a great deal on an open box 11" iPad Pro at Best Buy. It's a minor upgrade from my 9.7" Pro, but the ProMotion and bigger screen are amazing!

Anyway, the crux of the matter is this, I have this 10 port charging hub where we normally charge all the devices in our home (4 iPhones, 2 iPads, kindle, etc.) and up until now it's done a bang up job. But apparently it doesn't put out enough wattage to power my new beautiful iPad. I plug it into one of the 5v 2.4a ports (which are supposed to be quick charging) and the 11" Pro says it's charging but I can leave it for 20 minutes come back and the percentage hasn't increased a bit!

So I have restored to using the packaged charger, but it's throwing off my groove thing having this red headed step child charger to the side like the proverbial cheese standing alone. This is where you come in. I need a multiple USB charging dock for at least 6 devices (preferably 8 or 10) that can charge my Pro along with all my other techy shit that's become a necessity to have in this modern world. (Which I'm very happy in Brad, TYVM).

Please, I beg of you, recommend me some solution to this problem, thank you!

iPad mini and doctors... what’s your experience?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 02:41 PM PDT

I'm attending my first year of residency in general surgery and I'm thinking about purchasing the new mini 5. In my typical day of work I often need to use my iPhone to check patients documentations or to read my notes about medication or protocols, but I find using my phone not the best solution for two reasons: size and "looking unprofessional". Now that the new mini 5 is out I'm really thinking about purchasing one.

So to all the doctors and nurses that have an iPad mini: what's your experience? What color of iPad do you have?(I like the black bezels better but I think that white bezels match the hospital environment better.

Is the split screen on the 11 inch iPad Pro as bad as people say it is?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 04:37 PM PDT

I'm torn between the 11 and 12.9 inch for college note-taking using the Apple pencil. I'm thinking that since I already have a laptop (running Windows), the split screen won't be that much of a factor, right? Or is this not the case?

Also, would I need the cellular version as a student or am I fine with WiFi only?

    Thanks in advance.

Any way to connect my iPad Pro to my pc ?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 06:08 PM PDT

I'm using a 3d modeling software on my pc that won't work on my iPad (sculptris). Modeling with a mouse isn't working but I don't have a working Wacom/pc tablet hookup. I know astropad is like what I'm looking for but it doesn't go from a Mac to a pc. Is there a way to do this or am I SOL?

For a College Student: iPad Pro w/ Applr Pencil or a Refurbished MacBook Pro

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 03:42 PM PDT

So for the last couple of years I have wanted a MacBook to complete the ecosystem with my iPhone, Apple Watch &Airpods. I have been using a decent HP from Costco for a while now but my dad always promised to get me a MacBook if I got into a good college. I have now committed to Cal Poly SLO and my dad is following through on his promise.

However recently I have noticed a lot of videos on the iPad Pro with Apple Pencil and how good it is to take notes on. I have seriously been thinking about getting one of these for College instead of a MacBook Pro. I am not a super hard core user but my only concerns are with typing long essays and multitasking (which I know the iPad has gotten good with). Would love to get the community's feedback on the better option.

alternatively I could get a refurbished MacBook Pro from Apple a basic iPad 9.7 (about $250 when it goes on Sale). any thoughts on this too?
