Why is iMessage so horrible on macOS? Posted: 19 Feb 2019 11:38 AM PST About half of the time, after sending a message, Messages.app just sits, blue line slowly crawling across the top of the screen, waiting to send pending iMessages. My 2017 iMac is running 10.14.3, although this problem goes back as far back as we've been able to send iMessage and SMS messages from macOS. I've searched online, but no one seems to have good technical answers or explanation for why iMessages don't send from the Mac as smoothly as they send via iOS, and the suggestions are often baseless: update, reboot, delete and re-add accounts. They always work reliably via iOS, so why the gap? Both are data, presumably just SSL, but the iMac is wired via Ethernet, so I'd expect it to be even more reliable. Putting aside the horrible speed of search, inability to sort, and the painful quality of content searching and management of results, why can't Messages reliably deliver iMessages? Posted: 20 Feb 2019 02:11 AM PST MacBook Pro Mid 2014, running latest 10.14.3 I experience audio glitching when listening through headphones. It's like the sound gets stretched and bit crushed. I fix it by pausing and resume playing for now. Very annoying. I just did a SMC and PRAM reset, hopefully that will fix it. Anyone else? [link] [comments]
Is there a Mac app that mimics the Apple TV 4’s Now Playing Screen? Posted: 19 Feb 2019 07:14 PM PST I would love to download an app that acts like the Now Playing screen on the newer Apple TVs while I'm at work listening to my music. Is there something that could pull my iTunes/Apple Music "Now Playing" data and showcase it like that? [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Feb 2019 05:47 PM PST So I have a Flash Drive that has a folder on it labeled "Printed" I also have a folder on my macbook labeled the exact same thing. Setting up an external SSD on 21.5" 2017 iMac Posted: 19 Feb 2019 05:59 AM PST I bought a 21.5" iMac last year, and it's been frustratingly slow compared to my 2016 MacBook. Now I'm finally getting around to buying an external SSD for it in the hopes of speeding it up, but the online tutorials for setting it up are confusing me (I'm not tech savvy). Can I just buy the drive, plug it in, format it and use something like Carbon Copy Cloner to move my current setup on to the drive, then select it as the main boot drive? Or do I need to buy a second external drive, make a Time Machine backup to that first, then clone that backup to the new drive? [link] [comments]
Question about how Time Machine works Posted: 19 Feb 2019 04:53 AM PST So I have this MacBook Pro from 2013 and I want to upgrade the SSD. Obviously I'm going to play it safe and do a time machine backup of the entire APFS drive to restore it via the internet recovery once the new SSD is in place. This is where I have a question: I'm going to use the internet recovery so I'll get the Mavericks setup program and utilities, and Mavericks doesn't know about APFS, will I still be able to restore my Mojave backup from within the recovery environment or will I need to boot from a Mojave boot usb or something crazy like reinstalling Mavericks THEN update to Mojave? Seeking Menubar weather recommendations Posted: 19 Feb 2019 09:35 AM PST I've seen Bitbar / DatWeatherDoe / Meteo / iStat / CARROT / Forecast Bar. I'm sure there are several others. What do you like using? Why? [link] [comments]

Is it possible to eliminate the functionality that produces those ugly, blurred login screens? Posted: 19 Feb 2019 11:36 AM PST I've tried dozens of "replace your com.apple.desktop.admin.png" so-called 'fixes'; they either don't work at all, or don't persist. I just want the same fixed image I have on Windows and Linux. Any assistance appreciated. [link] [comments]
Disable new Mojave screenshots? Posted: 19 Feb 2019 07:07 AM PST Hey, is there a way to make the screenshots save right away instead of sticking to the bottom of the screen for a while before saving? [link] [comments]
App to compress photo without losing exif data Posted: 19 Feb 2019 06:08 AM PST Hi guys, is there any app for our Macs to compress a lot of images at once without deleting exif data? I have large photo library with a lot of .raw files which are 30mb+ . Now I'm planning to upload everything to iCloud but I have over 250 GB of photos. My plan is to compress big photos files and make this library about 150gb. [link] [comments]
