Mojave battery drain with lid closed: fixed Posted: 23 Feb 2019 12:54 PM PST As soon as I upgraded to Mojave I had been experiencing rapid battery drain while my MBP (2016 15" touchbar) had its lid closed. Seems like it's a common occurrence in the community. For me, the problem went away the moment I removed the dynamic desktop (the one that looks different at different times of the day, a new feature with Mojave), and went back to a standard one. All the solutions I have seen so far involve changing settings in terminal, or shutting things down when all you want is the operationality of the previous OS. I hope what I've found works for you as well. [link] [comments]

Any fix for the blinding cursors? Posted: 23 Feb 2019 05:36 PM PST I have neurological issues, and can't see near blinking cursors, and can get awful migraines from them. As well as from certain common types of flashing, animation, etc. I mostly use apps which either:
But there's no real alternative to Calibre. And it has the blinding cursoSr. And it often requires me to see what I've typed. It's particularly awful in dialogue windows, if I'm trying to set preferences. I can see big things like buttons, but can't see text in there. I don't think it used to be this bad. I think I may have been able to at least slow cursors using TinkerTool basic, but now they're blinding fast regardless of settings in TinkerTool basic. I'm thinking of trying TinkerTool System 6, but it doesn't seem to have the basic safety/accessibility options from TinkerTool basic. (particularly General > Blink Interval for Insertion Caret.) I bought a new monitor last month, and it helps with other animation, but it doesn't help enough to cope with the blinding cursors. [link] [comments]
Correct way to create alias in MacOS Posted: 23 Feb 2019 04:18 PM PST I want to create an alias on MacOS. I can easily add this line to

Unable to copy from Photos to Messages Posted: 23 Feb 2019 09:03 PM PST So this has been an issue for several version for me now. I keep reporting the issue but it hasn't been resolved, I'm not sure if anyone else is being affected by this. When I go on a particular picture on the photos app, copy (command-c) and paste (command-v) into a messages chat, the message just doesn't send. It hangs on the blue sending bar for a while and then eventually the message fails to send. I can send pictures from every other app but there is a specific issue with copying from a certain image in Photos. Any help would be really appreciated because I used this feature a lot in the past and is very frustrating now that I can't [link] [comments]

Please, help me with some frustrating things Posted: 23 Feb 2019 02:23 PM PST Hi all, I recently started using macOS because of Launchpad (shortly it's DJ MIDI controller for working with music), macOS has some better MIDI drivers or I don't know, when I'm sending really fast MIDI commands, Windows sometimes drop some and macOS just handles this better. However there are some points that are so frustrating for me. Maybe you guys got used to it but I expect these simple things just to work 'out of the box' and without 'googling' how to enable this and this.. I hope you'll be able to help me with these!
I have finder opened on monitor three. Then I open Chrome over it and put video on fullscreen. Finder is under that video. Then I click on finder icon in dock. Finder shows up but WHOLE CHROME WITH VIDEO SLIDES OUT SOMEWHERE TO OTHER GALAXIES and then I have to right click on chrome in dock and manually select that window to show it back. Why that finder cannot just show up over that video? Why that video has to go to.. nowhere? Is is possible to enable this nice user experience function? Yeah, it looks nice, everything slides to the left, then back to the right… But I want to watch video while doing something else, not sliding screens.
I found out that it's also impossible without setting something. I had to disable 'displays have separate spaces'. Okay, I did it. But now WHEN I PUT VIDEO ON FULLSCREEN MY TWO OTHER MONITORS GOES BLACK. Is it also possible to activate this nice UX function which I also don't understand?
I have two apps next to each other and when I want to open 'file' menu of app A, I have to think that I have to click on app A to activate it's menu bar. This is EVEN WORSE with disabled spaces from previous point, because ALL apps share one menu bar on ONE monitor and it's just… you know, I feel like I'm gonna just throw it somewhere. I have already found out that multiple docks for multiple monitors are not possible without 3rd party (because who would want to have separated app 'list' on each screen, everybody wants to open app on monitor 1 from monitor 2), but this is not as much annoying as those points above.I am just feeling like I am using some kind of DIY OS :D This is for now everything I have found after maybe 10 minutes of using it. Maybe I want much from this system, but this much is basic functionality for me. Thank you! EDIT: Just discovered that I cannot access my local devices by FQDN even while commands dig and nslookup shows their correct IP. Geez, this is gonna be more DIY OS than i initially thought [link] [comments]

[Mac Newb] How can I watch a movie on TV via HDMI and turn off iMac display completely? Posted: 23 Feb 2019 12:38 PM PST Just noticed that this is somewhat an issue to a lot of users actually, at least those with HDMI TVs or monitors hooked on their iMac. On PC you can actually turn off the monitor by pressing the button but with iMac you can't or at least I don't know yet how. I heard suggestions to Cmd+Option+Eject but that turns off the second screen as well. Dome anyone have solution to this? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Feb 2019 12:18 PM PST Like the title says. Did I fuck this up? I've backed up to Time Machine so I could restore and "try again" if so. [link] [comments] |
