Updated to Mojave 10.14.2 Now Secondary Monitor No Signal Posted: 09 Jan 2019 07:39 PM PST Comp: MacMini (Late 2014) Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics: Intel Iris 1536 MB I updated to Mojave 10.14.2 as my second monitor (Vizio e241i -B1 HDTV) was giving a 'No Signal' message. My Dell ST2220M monitor is working no problem. The Dell is running through a MiniDisplay to VGA, while the Vizio is running through a MiniDisplay to HDMI. Upon upgrade there was initially success in getting a signal to the display, but after boot up the display would go black then 'no signal' then back to normal. I played around with the display settings changing the resolution, but the problem persisted. I restarted the Mac to only have the Mini to HDMI go back to no signal. I never had any problem with a secondary display prior to the Mojave updates and Apple Support doesn't have an answer. The last Mojave update rendered my HDMI port obsolete, hence why I'm running the Mini->HDMI. I have tested the HDMI cable and it is fine, as well as the motherboard on my Vizio and the adapter. I have used other HDMI devices with success on the Vizio. I can go to a Mini to VGA, but I'm just wondering if anyone else is having these problems with HDMI, because my third monitor which i swapped out had the same issue. [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Jan 2019 01:22 PM PST Does anyone here have an opinion on MacScan, by SecureMac? FYI: SecureMac also has a security podcast: "The Checklist by SecureMac". While much of the content is geared to casual Mac an iOS users, it's informative. I've learned quite a bit. [link] [comments]
2019 the end of the Mac Mini (Late 2012 ) OSX updates? Posted: 09 Jan 2019 06:53 PM PST Hello, I'm considering upgrading my late 2012 i5 Mac mini sometime this year to the new 2018 model. I would like to hang on to my 2012 as long as possible before shoving out $799.+ for the latest 2018 MacMini model. My 2012 mini has been a very good machine to me. What is the likelihood of the MacMini late 2012 model receiving the next MacOS (post Mojave edition) this fall? I know it's update lifespan is ending soon. [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Jan 2019 06:01 AM PST Very familiar with Linux but issued an MBP for work. Looking at system resources the OS seems to be very liberal with its swap values. Is there a way to lower the swappiness values or is there something that allows memory compression. [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Jan 2019 07:12 AM PST I am looking for a router/modem combo that will support plugging up an external hard drive that will work with MacOS Time Machine flawlessly. Since Apple no longer makes Time Capsule, is there a Netgear or other brand gateway device I can plug an external hard drive into its USB port and will work just as well? My provider is Xfinity and my plan is 60 mbps, if that makes a difference. [link] [comments]

macOS Mojave - SMB Share Not Working Posted: 09 Jan 2019 07:36 AM PST Hello Everyone, I had a quick question around SMB Shares with MacOS Mojave. I'm setting up a 2012 Mac Mini as a home server, and turned on file sharing (SMB Share) so I can access my Mac's drive from other computers on the network. The Issue: When I am trying to access the SMB share from my Linux Laptop (Antergos), I am unable to mount and browse the directories on my mac mini. I CAN SSH into the machine with no issues, but I can't mount (or browse) to find my mac mini on the network tab. I was able to do this previously with my old Mac server, so I am unsure if something changed in MacOS Mojave that is preventing this from working. If anyone could offer any assistance, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]

[Question] How to change the ‘Unknown CPU’ in About this Mac, after upgrading the Mac Pro’s CPU. Posted: 09 Jan 2019 09:51 AM PST As the title says, I just upgraded my Mac Pro's CPU and now it reads as 'Unknown' in About This Mac. I searched all methods on how to change it, but none of then worked. The Mac Pro runs macOS Mojave 10.14.2, and the CPU that is now in the Machine (The one that reads 'Unknown') is a 10 core Xeon E5 2680 V2. [link] [comments]

[Question] How do I triple boot Mojave, windows 10 and a Linux Distro? Posted: 09 Jan 2019 07:25 AM PST I was able to install Linux on the a MacBook Pro Late 2011. At first it was running fine, every time I started the Mac Linux will boot. The way to boot into macOS was through the holding command option at startup. That was not a problem. Then I decided to install windows 10. I was able to do so without any problem. Now I don't have a way to boot into the Linux Distro I had already install. When I boot the live usb of Linux, all my file are there. So all the drives are fine is just that I don't have a way to boot into Linux. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
