[Discussion] If you are waiting for Ian beer/s0rrymybad, here is your downgrade/upgrade options.

    Posted: 04 Jan 2019 11:19 AM PST

s0rrymybads exploit will work on 11.4 - 12.1.2 (most likely.

Ian beers exploit will work on 11.4 - 12.1 (was patched in 12.1.1)

Alright so, If you are currently jail broken on a 5s - 8 save blobs and wait until one of the other exploits come out. Currently 12.1.1 / 12.1.2 are supported in sorry my bad's exploits, so it's best to stay until it is released and a jailbreak team will work on it,

If you have a jail broken X, stay where you are until s0rrymybad releases his exploits and a team/news guide (ex FCE365TV) tell you it's safe to update in iTunes.

If you are on 12.0 - 12.1 stay where you are at, i know the 12.1 beta users have the annoying pop up, but a tweak can be pushed out after a jailbreak is there to remove that. 12.0 - 12.1 will have 2 exploits (s0rrymybad, and Ian beer) so you are lucky.

If you are on 12.1.2 Downgrade to 12.1.1 for now. We don't know if 12.1.2 has new features to stop things, so go to the lowest version possible (hurry up before it get unsigned.)

If you are on 12.1.1 Make sure to stay, and install the tvOS beta profile.

also, if you are on 11.4 - 11.4.1 STAY, you guys will most likely get the jailbreak first, since iOS 11 has less security features.

Also make sure to install the tvOS beta If you are not jail broken!

[Discussion] If you are looking for an Apple Watch Series 1 (maybe 2) and are on iOS 10.3 or above, Apple will downgrade the watch to pair with your phone

    Posted: 04 Jan 2019 07:28 PM PST

I was looking for a Series 1 to pair with my iPhone 7 on iOS 10.3.1. I bought a generic series 1(not even sure of the version) and immediately went to the Apple Chat. I said I had an IPHONE 5 and wanted to pair the watch with it. They will do this because the iPhone 5 is maxed at 10.3.3, and watchOS 4 will not pair with it. They said that they have this procedure to downgrade the watch and they sent me a box to ship it back in. I sent it back and they downgraded it and sent it back. One weird thing was that they said the could not fix the issue and were sending it back, but it was downgraded so this was most likely a message they had to say as it was only a downgrade phrasing.

iOS 10.3 is the lowest iOS because they only downgrade to watchOS 3.2.3, which is based on 10.3.3, but still pairs to 10.3.x(only tested on 10.3.1). Should work on iOS 11 also because iOS can always pair to lowest watchOS and then you can update the watch(not tested)Have had a report that watchOS 3.2.2 would not pair with 11.3.1. I will reset my watch and test it with my phone on the 11.3 beta and also 12.1. Will update the post hopefully tomorrow morning.

Also: You may be able to downgrade the watch to watchOS to 2.2.2(based on iOS 9.3.3), which should pair to 9.3.x (has great possibility to not work. COMPLETELY UNTESTED. Just a possibility because my advisor asked if the 5 maxed at 10.3.3 or 9.3.5, so they may downgrade lower) For this you would need to say you have an iPHONE 4S(Maxes at 9.3.5) Apparently the 4S never had Apple Watch support. Do not buy a watch in hopes to go lower than 3.2.3.

May also work with Apple Watch Series 2. I believe both watches came out at the same time and both should downgrade(Untested and might not be available for Series 2's)

TLDR: Apple will downgrade Apple Watch Series 1(and possible 2)to watchOS 3.2.3 if you ask an advisor on the online support chat if you say you need to pair it with an iPhone 5. This will only work on 10.3 and above because new iOS can pair with old watchOS. 3.2.3 should pair with 10.3.x and above(Tested on 10.3.1)

Disclaimer: Everyone could have a different experience so don't buy a watch without doing research and making sure you are confident with you decision. I am just trying to give you the information I have available. Thanks.

Any other contributions to update compatible pairing would be appreciated.

[Discussion] The lack of ease-of-use in current YouTube downloaders

    Posted: 04 Jan 2019 02:26 PM PST

I miss McTube so much. A normal, native YouTube client with everything you'd expect built into the app like accessing your own account details/playlists, subscriptions right off the bat when you open it, search filter options, etc...plus an unobtrusive button in the corner of the screen that downloads the currently-playing video in the background. You didn't even have to click on the video either, each subscription or search result had a button in the corner as well. You were able to scroll down your subscriptions, tap the button when you saw something interesting, and keep scrolling. If you didn't have internet access/were away from home (this came in handy more if you had an iPod Touch), you could access the downloaded videos under Cache. If you were driving, you could set it going and turn off the device, and it played each file, one after another, in the order you downloaded them.

Downloads were stored in an easy-to-access part of the filesystem as MP4s, and played in iOS's stock video player, not a weird roll-your-own-looking player with no fullscreen option like a certain popular alternative I remember from a year or so ago. Everything UI-wise happened without lag, and playing in the background/adblocking wasn't infuriatingly a premium feature. (Though, to be fair, the Pro version of McTube was a paid app at first.) The act of starting a download didn't cause everything to pause, it happened in the background without bothering you. If you switched to the cache immediately after starting a download, you saw the progress bar, but you could switch back to your subscriptions or the search bar, and get right back to browsing. And...you didn't have to launch m.youtube.com in an in-app Safari pane like the more sketchy ones you can get now, or make you switch to the Photos app/Camera Roll to watch stuff.

Downloading YouTube videos is pretty trivial on other, less-mobile platforms. Though lots of sketchy websites with pop-under ads and fake download buttons exist, youtube-dl is open-source, and nice and easy if you know how the command-line works. However, iOS still doesn't have anything that even approaches the ease-of-use and UI design cleverness that McTube had in 2012. Jailbreak tweaks that modify YouTube's official app are cool I guess, but I remember losing my entire cache thanks to an accidental update last year, and you can't do the clever UI things like download buttons on each search result. I swear, if someone here steps up and programs something iOS-standalone, based on that, with no premium junk/crippleware, it'll blow all of the current solutions out of the water, and give me a reason to re-jailbreak. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

(Though as a non-iOS dev, I understand how some things are just not feasible, or worth doing in your free time. but come on)

tldr: Current youtube downloader solutions are /r/mildlyinfuriating. Here are my guidelines to make The Perfect Jailbreak-exclusive/Unlicensed YouTube Client, if anyone's interested.

Make it a standalone app, not a tweak that modifies YouTube's official app.

Make it so downloading doesn't bring the user's browsing experience to a halt, or force them to reload the subscriptions page, causing them to lose their place.

Eff the status quo set by the official app! Don't show ads, and don't make playback stop when you lock the device or switch apps. And don't make a redundant YouTube Red clone that forces you to pay someone anyways. YouTube already paywalls people officially provide this same functionality.

Make it so the entire cache plays back, one after another, in the order you downloaded them. If you want to include other options for playback order/sorting, make sure they actually work, and make sure it remembers your choice when you close and restart the app (unlike another popular solution from a while ago).

Don't drop off the face of the internet, be sure to fix things if YouTube tweaks their API.

(Sorry if this post violates any rules or is out-of-place. I'm not too active on this sub.)

[HELP] My phone isn't booting up and is stuck on the apple logo every time I try to reboot it.

    Posted: 04 Jan 2019 08:49 PM PST

I'm currently on iOS 9.3.3 and my phone randomly rebooted while I was using it. No big deal, it happens somewhat frequently, but I realized that this time it wasn't booting up (stuck on the apple logo). I decided to hold the power and button and reboot it again, but it still doesn't boot up. I haven't installed or updated any tweaks for over a month now, so I don't think a tweak could be causing the issue. What are my options?

Edit: When I put my phone on DFU mode, the screen stays black, but iTunes recognizes it as an iPhone in recovery mode

Edit2: Welp. Guess this is the end of the line for me. iOS 9.3.3 served me well for the past 2 years. Currently updating my phone to iOS 12.1.2. Farewell jailbreak.
