Can I share files between apps?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 04:52 AM PST

I have a relatively large document (240 pages, 160 mb) that I have uploaded to my iPad as a note in Notability. I'd like to view it in other apps, like PDF Expert or Morpholio Trace (a blueprint reader) without having multiple copies of the same set of drawings on the iPad itself. Is that possible? How do I point the other apps to the copy that Notability has already downloaded onto the iPad?

What is "Use with Siri" setting? I've been "using with Siri, whether on or off"

What is "Use with Siri" setting? I've been "using with Siri, whether on or off"

Does anyone know what this setting really does or when it's necessary?

So, I've been trying to setup some Siri Shortcuts for Overcast and I noticed all(?) my apps have "Use with Siri" set to "OFF". Still I'm using Siri to control lots of apps (like PocketCasts) but don't have the setting "on". Can anyone shed some light on this?

    AppleTV

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 09:08 AM PST

The Remote app in iOS used to prompt me (via notification) for PIN input on the AppleTV and display a nice numerical keyboard. It hasn't done it in a few months and I don't know why.

It was great for entering the PIN with my kids in the room because it doesn't show the input. It's also a lot easier than swiping the remote through the digits.

Anyone else have this issue ... any one know a fix?

    Insanely loud typing key clicks.

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 01:13 AM PST

Does anyone have this issue?? It's like the normal volume on roids every 10-15 words you type out. You wouldn't think it'd be too annoying but it literally is ear piercing. It's been going on for a while now and it's really starting to get to me.

    Recover iMessage conversation

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 08:39 AM PST

    Hey guys,

I just deleted a few minutes ago a conversation by mistake, I'd like to know if I can recover it.

My iMessage is synched to iCloud, which also means that the conversation has been deleted on all devices.

I've been googling around but ended up an methods that are outdate and clearly meant for previous version of iOS.

Any idea if I can recover this?

    Why?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 08:20 AM PST

I dont understand something with Apple Pay. When I use my Visa card on Apple Pay, it gets Approved immediately. However, when I use my Mastercard, the status is Pending. Why is the approval process different on Apple Pay for Visa & Mastercard?

    Newly added iPhone contacts disappearing

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 03:49 AM PST

    Hi,
My mom owns an iPhone XR running iOS 12.1.3, ever since mid-december any contact she adds disappears after a few days. All her old contacts remain, only the new ones go. For example, she's had my number on her phone for over 2 years now so it hasn't disappeared, however my sister's number is brand new and no matter how many times she adds it to her contacts it disappears. Btw she only uses iCloud sync for contacts.

I've tried signing out of iCloud, resyncing all contacts and even restoring contacts using the restore feature on icloud.com but nothing seems to solve this issue. Please help :(

Strangest thing: phone starts playing a random ringtone for absolutely no reason

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 06:39 PM PST

Hey - looking for any advice I can get here. Starting today, my phone will randomly start playing a ringtone (name I still cannot identify), with absolutely no reason. My first though was that this was some app's notification settings, but it even happens in DND mode, so it cannot be a notification. I've also tried power cycling.

I don't even know where to start investigating this issue. This is the strangest problem I've ever had with my iPhone. Any advice on where I can look?

    - iPhone X

    - iOS 12.1.2

Peoples thoughts on shortcuts showing up in multitasking

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 01:45 PM PST

I'm a user that uses shortcuts on my home screen to run Toggl timers. I've noticed an annoyance when running the shortcut when in the middle of doing something else on the phone. When multitasking back to the previous app I'm sometimes inaccurate and end up running the shortcut again.

Anyone else run into anything like this? What are your thoughts on whether or not shortcuts being in multitasking make sense?

    Thanks!

Dodgy links in Reddit app private message

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 07:52 PM PST

    Good evening,

Yesterday, I clicked on a link in a private message sent to my Reddit account, and was taken to a page with a ton of ads (there was so much flashing on the screen I couldn't actually see what was going on) that ultimately crashed my app. I'm using an iPhone and the "in-app browser".

I feel embarrassed for asking this (pardon my ignorance), but is it possible for my phone and/or account to be infected with some sort of malware/virus/key logger from this? My grandson said that if I was worried, deleting and reinstalling the app should get rid of any malware/virus/key logger but that he wasn't completely sure of that either.

What do you reckon I should do?

Thank you so much for your help!
