| WiFi not automatically connecting with iPhone 8 Plus Posted: 17 Jan 2019 04:08 PM PST So I have an 8 Plus, and when I get home it usually never auto connects to my WiFi. Auto join is on, and the control in control center is blue. It should be auto joining, but I have to manually go into settings and click the WiFi network name. | Can’t lock my screen to landscape mode when using Safari on my new iPhone XR. Posted: 17 Jan 2019 06:07 PM PST As the title suggests, I was very disappointed to find that screen lock doesn't work for landscape mode when using Safari. I have not tested it with other applications yet, so I'm unsure if this extends to all applications. For clarity, when my phone is sideways (landscape) and I attempt to lock the screen so that it stays fixed in the screens current orientation it will instantly change to portrait mode instead. I was hoping the community here would know if this is by design or just bug. I pray that the removal of that feature is not the case and is just a bug. [link] [comments]  |

My Iphone works fine for imessage, imessage groups, and sms messages, but it will never work for sms groups. When people add me to an sms group, I never see or recieve the messages, and likewise, I can never start an sms group. Posted: 17 Jan 2019 08:04 PM PST Hello everyone, A couple of hours ago I was able to see the used space on my external HD (was main HD on my MBP 13 inch Mid 2012) and now I can't see a thing. I'm scared cause I have over 10,000 photos and a while ago I could see them perfectly... what happened? Did I unplugged the HD before time? Am I able to recover or make the HD mountable without erasing it? I'm scared. Please if anyone knows what I can do for it to show the information I would appreciate it. I want to be able to plug the drive in and have access to the files presently on my Mac, by browsing through the folders just like I do on Finder. Is this possible with Disk Utility? If so, how? Posted: 17 Jan 2019 06:42 PM PST So i very about to get airpods and my friend lost his and i just have a few questions on the process of the way to find it in case i lose it(some of these are mixed with my friends questions). 1) If I were to connect to the airpods and put it back in the case would it 1)be disconnected but be linked to my phone and just click connect to use it again next time or 2)be disconnected but not be on the list of devices (like would i have to re-connect like i would if i just set it up as new or just click connect again) 2) If i lost it, would find my iphone show the last known location of when it was **connected to my iphone not someone else's** and could i find it if it was outside of the case but not connected to **my or any device**. i know that u cant find it if its in the case and not connected to an iphone(correct me if im wrong) 3) how exactly does find my iphone for my airpods works (like what are the limits to it)? 4) IF say i lost the case and the airpods(its connected to my device but not in use and inside case) and someone took it and connected it to their iphone , would i get a notification saying another person connected to the air-pods and would i be able to see where that person connected it to their phone and if its currently in use? or would it just show me the last location it was ONLINE/USED ON **MY PHONE ONLY, on find my iphone** and not show me the last location it was used/connected on any iphone or **WOULD IT SHOW ME THE LOCATION THE AIRPODS WERE CONNECTED to ANY IPHONE(INCLUDING devices that aren't mine)** 5)SIMPLIFIED NUMBER 4 IN CASE IT MAKES NO SENSE. 1) if i lost my airpods and its in the case and not in use but connected to my device and say someone took it and connected it to theirs would i be able to find where that that airpod is on my iphone's find myiphone even if its connected on their device or 2)if i lost it. would my iphone's find my iphone only show the last time it was connected to **my device** and not if it was connected to anyone elses device? | Posted: 17 Jan 2019 12:30 PM PST TL:DR My MacBook HDD won't mount internally and freezes the utility app when I try to mount externally. If the HDD won't mount how can I go about getting my files? I'll try just about anything. My HDD in my MacBook Pro 2012 wouldn't mount anymore... I put it in an external enclosure and plugged into my girlfriends MacBook Air but the hard-drive doesn't show up in Go -> Computer. It does show up in disk utility but when I click my hard drive it freezes the application. I'll let it load for an hour then I'm going to try some third party program that supposedly uses algorithms to get files off a corrupted HDD. If that doesn't work what are some things I can do to get my files? I really want them. I've heard about people getting files off a smashed up hard drive why does it seem impossible to get mine even mounted? I've also heard about the arms getting stuck but I'm not sure how to take these drives apart. I'll always be backing up to iCloud or Google drive after this. [link] [comments]  |

My wife got an IPad back when she worked at her previous teaching job, and used her school email for the Appleid for the ipad. It's not that big of a deal except, when she left for her new job 3 1/2 years, the email account was deleted, and she can't remember the answers to the security questions, and we have since been locked out the ipad. We did the forget password stuff on the Apple website and the problem with that is it either wants you to answer security question, which we can't figure out, or send something to the email the id is registered to, which is no longer works. Does anybody know if we can do anything that would help us get in, or point us into a direction we could use to figure it out? [link] [comments]  |

I've got 5 desktops set up on my MacBook Air with Mojave vs. 10.14.02 and I have a folder of desktop background images I've successfully used to have the desktops rotate through images, changing ever 30 min for the past few months. I just added two new images to the folder and suddenly when I swipe between desktops the background changes to the default "Desktop Pictures" folder images. No matter how many times I go into System Preferences and change this, it always switches back the next time I swipe out and back into the desktop. Any advice? [link] [comments]  |

So I'm trying to re download all the tv shows I had and for some reason it isn't letting me download them off the cloud. It says it's there, but its a light grey and can't do anything with it. This has worked flawless until recently. I logged into gmail and my inbox had 20+ emails say:
Then below there is a "noname" file i can download with the text of the email. From what i've read so far, DMARC is designed to block phishing attempts so I get it. But 98% of my emails are still being forwarded properly. Some of the messages blocked are from my Discover Bank Account or Vanguard Brokerage account. I don't understand whats happening here. | Where can I sell a water damaged Logic Board? Posted: 17 Jan 2019 03:31 PM PST I have the logic board of an Early-2015 MacBook Air, 8GB RAM that's been damaged with water. The computer was still functional but the fan is always really loud, the CPU was always being throttled, and the computer was super slow. I took it to the Apple store and they said the temperature sensor was broken which led to SMC problems. I'm not sure if I totally trust their diagnosis, but I don't have the expertise to test every component myself. They wanted $450 for them to replace the logic board, but I said no way and bought a new board and replaced it myself. So now I have a logic board and I want to sell it to someone who could use it. Originally, my plan was to park the display in my room and hook up either a Chromecast or AppleTv to it and use it strictly to stream stuff either from my MacBook Pro, iPhone, or some sort of other dedicated streaming device. But doing research, it appears like it won't be that simple due to the lack of HDMI. | Macbook Air freezing immediately on boot Posted: 17 Jan 2019 10:44 AM PST About a week ago I got this error message that seems to show a kernal panic and then the system shut down. When trying to reboot the device it immediately freezes no matter what when i try to boot. I've tried booting normally and had it freeze as soon as the apple logo and update bar pop up. When trying to boot into recovery and internet recovery it freezes right away as well. I have also included some artifacting that sometimes happens after trying to boot into recovery. Wondering whether the issue is most likely a software or hardware issue. Thanks for any help.
