Why is the App Store littered with bejeweled knock offs? Posted: 30 Dec 2018 07:38 AM PST Literally all I get are ads about Toon Blast and other various knock offs of bejeweled. And it seems like literally every developer on the store has their own version of it, from Family Guy to Willy Wonka. It's just mind numbing to me because it's just... literally the same game that been re-skinned a million times. I mean, I thought it was annoying when mobile gaming was littered with games that copied MySpace era zynga and you had an energy bar, like Simpson's tapped out, or the family guy one, or the sims, or walking dead no mans land...like Jesus all these games are the same. Except this toon blast thing is way more obvious and it's kinda sad. [link] [comments]

Both Final Fantasy 9 and Dragon Quest 8 are on sale, which would you recommend and why? Posted: 29 Dec 2018 07:38 PM PST I haven't played either of those games, but love JRPGs, I see high praise for both games, but would like your opinions. Second question, do both games allow decent character customization, like weapons and armor etc? [link] [comments]

Can I get infinity blade series on iPhone again? Posted: 29 Dec 2018 07:44 PM PST I had to reset my iPhone and lost the infinity blade series of games. I know EPIC removed them from the app store recently, that said is there any way to get them on my iPhone again? They may not have been fully compatible with my XR screen but I still think they were awesome! [link] [comments]
iOS Gaming no. 16: Command & Conquer: Rivals Posted: 29 Dec 2018 06:48 PM PST Introduction Good evening my fine readers! It is with pride that I say the time has come for another article. This week, we will take a gander at what is surely a terrible, terrible game—no, not that game. It is, in fact, Command & Conquer: Rivals! With any good fortune at all, it will be a far better game than any of EA's other attempts. As usual, if you would like to read the previous review please click here. If my articles are the greatest thing since sliced bread & Christmas, you can tell me on the Trinity Force Network Discord server, by messaging me directly on Discord @Syger#2331, on Reddit, or by sending me an [email](mailto:syger@trinityforcenetwork.com) (Please don't abuse my inbox)! Naturally, I take criticism as well. Details & Summary I received some feedback asking for a summary section. Well, here you go! If this is helpful, please let me know. Command & Conquer: Rivals is a solid alternative to Clash Royale and other, similar games; as well as being an… adequate replacement for Titanfall Assault. While it is an EA game and, as such, is more likely than most games to turn into a pay-to-win cashgrab, it is not one yet. At least, not obviously. It has enjoyable, strategic gameplay as well as a surprisingly rewarding ladder climb, and well-balanced (in my experience) cards. While not perfect, I can recommend it. Game: Command & Conquer: Rivals Developer: Electronic Arts Price: Free In-App Purchases: Cash shop. Device used: iPhone XS Max The Review Command & Conquer: Rivals. The game widely expected to be hot garbage at best and something entirely unmentionable at worst is, in a surprising turn of events, not actually that bad! Sure, it has all the usual hallmarks of a pay-to-win cesspit—in-app purchases, progression occurring primarily on a competitive ladder, and a card system controlled by lootboxes—and, though it will almost certainly become one in the future, it is not there yet. Of course, a game is (usually) more than its monetisation strategy, and this is no exception. The gameplay itself is very reminiscent of (and likely inspired by) the late Titanfall Assault: Each map consists of a number of capturable points, open terrain, obstructed terrain, and tiberium (which becomes open terrain when fully consumed) hexes. Controlling points charges the nuclear warhead which, when launched, deals exactly half of a base's total health in damage. As for the other three hex types, Tiberium hexes apply a damaging effect to infantry units and increase Tiberium generation when harvesters are placed on them, open terrain is freely crossable, and obstructed terrain is only crossable by air units and units with certain special abilities. Of course it is entirely possible to simply attack the enemy's base directly, but it is very inefficient and usually best reserved as a delaying tactic or distraction. Now that we're getting into the nitty-gritty of combat, it is worth noting that unit level does matter. When it directly impact a card's stats, it is impossible for it to not matter. However, that impact is dwarfed by that of the basic mechanics of damage types, number advantage, and movement. Starting from the top, damage type is best defined as a unit's preferred target—air, vehicle, infantry, or structure. Whatever it is, units of that type will take more damage when fighting units who prefer to target them. Example: Shocktroopers prefer to target infantry. If shocktroopers engage a missile squad, the shocktroopers will deal additional damage to the missile squad. This also works in reverse: In the example above, the shocktroopers would take less damage from the missile squad because the shocktroopers are infantry, whereas the missile squad prefers to target vehicles or air. Numerical advantage, on the other hand, is exactly what it sounds like: Is there more than one squad attacking the same target, or is it an honest scuffle? Possessing an advantage in numbers can and will turn a loss into a victory. While it may sound obvious, C&C:R is not actually a turn-based game—movement matters. Defending units have an advantage in that they are able to attack while the aggressors are still moving into position. This is not an advantage that can simply be overcome easily, either. It requires either additional units or a hard counter to assault an entrenched enemy. Card levels, on the other hand, provide approximately a 10% stat increase over the previous level. That sounds significant, and it is—but it is not usually (in my limited experience) a deciding factor, which is something directly attributable to the level limits set upon each ladder league. The limiter starts at level five in the first league and increases by one every league up until Diamond, at which point it increases by two until Tiberium league, capping at level fifteen. This is great for players who play to complete their daily quests and keep a chest on the burner at all times. It's less great, however, for players who like to play until they simply no longer can—they will quickly find themselves in a very high league with cards far lower than their opponents, making strategic outplays far, far more important than they otherwise would be. This is mitigated somewhat, however, by the climbing rewards: Every division (each league has three) has a one-time chest reward. While they start off with fairly crappy common chests, they very quickly turn into the far more valuable rare and epic chests. As such, I do have complaints—though it is worth noting they are far fewer and less significant than an astute player would expect from an EA titles. Fortunately, do to the level caps, whaling is far less prevalent than in Clash Royale or other similar titles. Unfortunately, this does very little when players reach higher leagues with higher level caps: While upgrade costs increase significantly (approximately doubling every upgrade), gold and card gains do not. This leads to a large disparity between free-to-play players, players who spend a little on a good deal, and whales. Furthermore, card unlocks are tied directly to player level. While this sounds great for long-term progression, it cripples deck diversity and early strategy while further rewarding whales. Lastly, while play a mitigating factor in grinding for cards, it is truly nominal—a single request offers ten common cards or one rare every eight hours. Putting that in numbers, that is 15% to a level 8 common or 3% to a level 8 rare. While that doesn't sound too bad, consider that card level cap is 15—a full seven levels beyond level 8. In conclusion, I would recommend this game to players of Titanfall Assault, or to those who have grown weary of other games in the genre—I'm looking at you, Clash Royale. Is it for everyone? No, certainly not; however, it is no Star Wars: Force Arena, or Star Wars: Galaxy Heroes. It is a well thought-out game with enjoyable gameplay that, though it could potentially turn into a den of microtransactions and whales, has not yet. Conclusion That's it for this week, folks! As always, thank you for reading this far. I am open and looking for any and all feedback! Please, if you have something to say, say it! I can't improve or change if I don't know what I should improve, or what to change. I would also like to note that I have never played a previous Command & Conquer game. If you have, and if you've played C&C: Rivals and find it woefully lacking, I would love to know! If you would like to reach out to me, you can find me on the Trinity Force Network Discord server @Syger#2331 (mentioning me in the #general-gaming channel or messaging me directly are both acceptable). Alternatively, you can send me a message on Reddit or, if you're reading on Reddit, by leaving a comment below. Best / most popular gacha-style games? Posted: 29 Dec 2018 10:15 PM PST I.e. from stuff like Marvel Strike Force, Age of Magic, and Legends at War, what's the biggest and most popular? I actually already play all three of the above, and I think Legends at War is the best of the lot, but I havent dropped real money on them yet, and was wondering what are the ones with the biggest community / dev support I do know at the very least that Legends at War is the smallest of the ones I mentioned which is a shame because the combat is so crisp and I love the art/animations. I know Marvel Strike Force is possibly the biggest of the ones I mentioned, but yikes! The prices for their microtransactions are insane. I tried Idle Heroes, but it's not for me. Not enough actual gameplay. If there are other popular games than the ones I mentioned, do let me know please, as that's what I'm trying to find out, thanks :) [link] [comments]
