Weekly /r/iOSGaming Discussion - What have you been playing lately and what do you recommend? - December 31, 2018

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 08:06 PM PST

Please use this thread to discuss whatever iOS games you've been playing lately. They don't have to be new games, they can be old games and they do not have to be iOS original titles!

As long as it's an iOS game it belongs in here. Make sure to put the name(s) of the game(s) in bold to make it easier for people skimming the thread to see what you're talking about, and if you'd like to make it really convenient turn the game name into a hyperlink that sends people directly to the App Store!

To keep track of the thread, the comments are sorted by "new" by default.

    Find previous weekly threads here.

Games for 6-8 year old kids?

    Posted: 31 Dec 2018 04:39 AM PST

Any suggestions for games for 6-8 year old kids (boy or girl is fine)?

There have been some good threads in the past but I didn't see anything too recent - thought it was a good chance to see what kids have been enjoying lately.

Why am I struggling to find the perfect RPG?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 11:16 AM PST

I've just bought myself a 2nd gen iPad Pro and I'm looking for something to play when I have a spare hour here & there. On the PC I'm a big fan of Diablo so I was looking for something along those lines with good character and weapon progression, preferably with reasonably pretty graphics. I'm not really into the Anime style so no Final Fantasy (sue me).

Baldurs Gate was tempting but apparently there are fundamental issues with the controls.
Infinity Blade's dodge mechanic is definitely not what I'm after.
Titan Quest is my winner for now, despite the framerate issues. Sorcery! 2 looks interesting. Anyone tried it?

What else am I missing out on? I know this seems to be a big decision for $10 but I rarely spend money on games.

    Low effort games

    Posted: 31 Dec 2018 04:37 AM PST

Hey guys, any recommendations for low effort games for an 11IPP? I tend to gravitate towards games like swipe brick pro, piffle and pokemon quest? I've been looking at geometry dash, but was thinking about having more suggestions

    Thanks!

    iPhone XR

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 01:37 PM PST

Just wondering on what this subs opinion is on the XR as far as gaming performance goes? I've got a iPad Pro 10.5 and was hoping to share my library with a new phone (seeing as I need a new phone anyways).

Anyone got any experience with it and specifically Civ VI? Is the screen to small for that type of game or does it scale well?

    Thanks All!

Any games like the original FarmVille?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 10:45 AM PST

I tried farmville 2 and it just feels... so empty, like the first one had something that made you want to play it again and again.

    Thanks for help :)

Is there a game extremely similar, or else some way to play the game? It is no longer offered in the app store.
