| Just got a new TV and I find the OS lackluster. Would a Apple TV 5th gen work with it? Posted: 27 Dec 2018 11:25 AM PST I'm completely new to Apple TV and (newer) TVs in general. I recently purchased a OLED TV and I'm completely blown away by the picture quality, but I find the OS slow and buggy. It's a Philips TV with Android OS. Link here. After some research I found the Apple TV, and apparently it could solve my issue with the lackluster OS. I'm a little bit confused about some things though. My TV apparently has "HDR Perfect", but when I look at the about page of the Apple TV it never mentions this kind of HDR. They mention something about checking if you have HDR10 or Dolby Vision, but I don't think I have either of these. Or maybe HDR10 is just another name for HDR Perfect? [link] [comments]  |
| Airplay online stream help (new ATV user) Posted: 27 Dec 2018 07:25 PM PST Recently bought an AppleTV, and while it's perfect for streaming via apps such as Netflix, Hulu, and Prime, I'm having trouble meeting my other needs. I constantly stream sports (via r/nflstreams and r/mlbstreams links). I also use websites for tv series viewing (projectfreetv, etc). Any advice on the best ways to get these up to the ATV easily? I'm hoping I'm missing something simple, but throwing these videos and streams from my phone to the screen quickly was a huge hope for me. I only see options for screen mirroring, which is not ideal considering I want to keep using my phone. Any help? [link] [comments]  |

| Apple TV original vs Apple TV 4K... Posted: 27 Dec 2018 09:22 PM PST I have the original Apple TV and have loved it. Never thought about upgrading or saw a need to. What are the major differences? We mainly use for iTunes movie rentals, Netflix, and YouTube. Does the new still do all this well with the addition of Amazon Prime TV? What else should I consider. Also, with the complexity of wires, can I just plug the new one into the old cords? Everything is run through the wall and I don't want a hassle. Just want to unplug the old and pop on the new. | Posted: 27 Dec 2018 11:51 AM PST Hello I got my first apple tv for Christmas. I set it up using my iphone and everything worked kinda smooth. The first app I set up was Netflix but when I chose something to watch it just started a endless loading wheel and it seems to be doing so with all the apps I try (youtube, ted, ...). I have also tried to AirPlay from my phone. The videos load fine on my phone but as soon as I AirPlay them the start this endless loading. I have tried to set up the AppleTv again both with a device and manually but the same happens. I am wondering if this is my internet connection but I have a ADSL which has around 40mb dowloand speed and everything loads fine on my phone and computer. Has anyone had the same problem and found a solution or any recommendations for troubleshooting this? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 27 Dec 2018 11:50 AM PST Canadian over here! I have had first gen apple tv for YEARS! Finally decided to upgrade to 4k. Before on our old apple tv i had the ctv go app on ipad. I could airplay greys anatomy to our atv. Now with the new 4k, im not finding a ctv go app at all? Just ctv news!! But its still on my ipad? So i know it exists?
