To make sure the Mac is not stolen and on a DEP program where an administrator will have remote access to your computer and it can be wiped remotely you should go to terminal and type in sudo profiles show -type enrollment. This will show you if there are any DEP or MDM profiles associated with the computer. If there are it is likely to be stolen and you should steer clear or you may be nagged to death or your computer may be rendered unusable by an administrator from the organization from which it was stolen. Formatting and reinstalling the OS will have no impact on your ability to get rid of the DEP nags. Steer clear of stolen devices!

I haven't used my MacBook in 3 years, i kinda miss it. I have no knowledge or idea on what items I need to purchase. I thought the safest thing to do would be to remove the cd drive, and replace it with a ssd. Any ssd I need to stay away from? Any recommendations on which to buy? 1tb maybe 2tb. Should I keep optical drive and replace the hard drive, instead?

Wake Up Time not Working

Recently whenever I've set wake up time as an alarm on my 2015 MacBook Pro it hasn't gone off.

I've used o It as a trusty alarm ever since I bought it, is there anyway to fix it?

Macbook is deleting all my Messages upon reboot?

Anytime I reboot all my Messages are deleted. They remain on my iPhone, so it isn't an iCloud issue. I can't find any settings and all google wants to suggest is erasing my entire laptop before selling.

Settings in Messages is to keep it forever.

Macbook Pro color - color problem

Hello guys! I'm buying my first MacBook ever. I can't decide what color should I choose. I really like Space Grey, but I'm afraid about wearing off and I want it to look the best for as long as possible. Space Grey look overall better than Silver, but Silver is more classic look and should last longer without scratches.

What do you think? I would love to see your Macbook pictures after 1/2/3 years!

Macbook 8G or 16G RAM？

I am considering getting a MacBook and struggling to choose between 8G and 16G RAM. What is the advantage of 16G ram over 8G?

Background: I am a college student studying computer science . I don't plan to play games on the Mac since I have a professional gaming PC. I will likely frequently use a Linux virtual machine, XCode , eclipse (a java IDE) and likely some other IDEs . I don't develop, compile and test very complicated softwares ( as I am still a student), just some simple ones.

Any input is appreciated, thanks !
