iTunes Constantly Splitting Albums Randomly? Been happening for a WHILE now. Posted: 29 Dec 2018 07:21 PM PST Hello Mr and or Mrs r/AppleHelp, ISSUE: I don't know how to fix this, it seems to happen to some artists more than others for some reason. All of the album info is the same for the albums that get split. I can't think of anything. [link] [comments] |
Questions about using AirPods on Windows with bluetooth Posted: 29 Dec 2018 01:13 PM PST I have to use Windows computers at work and recently purchased this bluetooth usb adapter to try to get my AirPods to work with my work desktop and hopefully listen to things like podcasts and YouTube videos in other tabs while I work. My main question is am I able to use just a single headphone and listen to audio when using AirPods with a non apple device connected through regular bluetooth? Does anyone have any experience using AirPods in the way I have described? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Dec 2018 10:13 PM PST So I started up my MacBook for the first time in a week or two, and the trackpad wasn't working. So I plug a USB keyboard in, so I could manually enter a password, and this screen popped up that alternates between a pic of a mouse and a pic of a MacBook, showing me to turn on the mouse. I do not own any external mouse. I also cannot get out of this screen at all, as the curser won't move from the top-left of the screen. Does anybody know how to fix this? I've tried a lot, with no success. I have a pic of the screen if anyone needs it [link] [comments] |
Problems connected Magic Keyboard via bluetooth Posted: 29 Dec 2018 08:04 PM PST I just purchased the Magic Keyboard w/Numeric Keypad. I've connected this to my computer via the provided lightning cord and made sure the keyboard is turned "on", but can't get it to pair. However, the volume controls on the keyboard do work which is interesting... no other keys do though. My connection chain: keyboard via lightning to USB, going into my 2010 27" iMac (that I use as a 2nd monitor), which is connected to my 2017 15" MBP via a mini DV to dongle w/USBc connection. I've turned off/on Bluetooth, but no luck. Not sure how to force Discovery? [link] [comments] |
How to connect a female TB-3 plug to a male MiniDisplayPort? Posted: 29 Dec 2018 10:14 PM PST I feel like it is possible via a lot of weird adapters, but there might be a smarter way. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Dec 2018 10:02 PM PST My iMac will randomly start making loud noises (which sound like they're coming from the fan). It doesn't always happen when I'm running a lot of stuff on the computer, but I think it's overheating... How can I deal with this? I've cleaned the computer and around it for dust today. But that didn't seem to work... [link] [comments] |
How to lock the iPhone screen while toddler is on a telephone call iPhone xsmax ios 12.1.2 Posted: 29 Dec 2018 06:27 AM PST Does anyone have any tips to lock an iPhone when you are talking on the telephone? My toddler likes to talk to her grandparents, but she always accidentally hangs up on them or hit buttons with her face while she is holding the phone. I have tried using Guided Access but it doesn't seem to make a difference when you're actually on a phone call ( you can still hang up and switch between screens) [link] [comments] |
Swapping out a crashed SSD (upgrade) for the original HDD clone Posted: 29 Dec 2018 09:09 PM PST I cant seem to find the answer to this question online, so I'll ask here. Basically I upgraded my macbook pro 2011 to a ssd a while back, then it crashed one day and it appears to be corrupted. Luckily, I kept the original HDD and updated it to be a clone of the SSD incase it failed. Now that I've taken out the SSD and replaced it with the HDD, how do I boot the old disk back up? Pretty sure It has everything on it to be a complete OS. All it gives me is an option to select a network, or a blinking folder with a question mark. [link] [comments] |
iMac Startup Disk Is Read Only Posted: 29 Dec 2018 02:39 PM PST I recently had a huge issue after installing Mojave that made my startup disk a Read Only disk. After several re-installs and attempts I thought I had figured it out. I was originally booting up in High Sierra OS via an external SSD. I upgraded to Mojave and everything went to hell in a hand basket. My computer was booting up in Single User Mode by default. I would have to enter 'exit' / return for it to launch the OS. After a few days of several tries to fix it, I reformatted the internal Drive. I then Cloned that drive on the External SSD and viola! I thought I had it fixed. It's been a few days and I decided out of curiosity to check both my drives via Get info and Neither of them are assigned read/write to admin or my user name. Both disks are labeled read only drives. I've tried unlocking the info box at the bottom, clicking the plus to add my username but it says I don't have the necessary permission to do it. I tried restarting on the original drive and it was the same. Both drives were formatted correctly and I can install apps, save documents, etc. I'm sure the permissions are eventually going to start causing problems. When I booted up today, it went back to booting up to single user mode by default. I typed reboot and it launched my OS. Now it's erratic, sometimes boots up with OS and other times defaults to Single User Mode. Any ideas, or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for reading this. [link] [comments] |
Easiest way to transfer photo album off iPhone to MacBook Posted: 29 Dec 2018 10:43 AM PST Trying to share 500 specific videos in a photo album from my iPhone to Mac. I already have them all selected specifically in the album and don't want to sift through all the files on the Mac again. Is there a way to share a specific album and not just view ALL photos/videos on the phone? Airdrop isn't working on the laptop for some reason. iPhone 8 and 2011 MacBook Air [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Dec 2018 07:50 PM PST I've had my iPhone 6S for about 2.5 years and it works fantastic.. except for this recent issue. Whenever I message someone else through iMessage, I will not receive a notification from the reply. I have a hunch that the problem stems from the time stamp that applies to each message. Usually I'll check timestamps and notice that my initial message will be dated about 5 minutes after the actual time I sent the message. This could explain how the majority of messages I don't see are messages where I got an almost instant reply. Does anyone have similar experience or suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Dec 2018 12:11 PM PST I can't seem to find any powered hubs that guarantee USB 3.1 (gen 2) speeds on them. They all just say USB 3.0. From what I'm reading, 3.1 gen 2 is dependent on the bus routing of any hub or device that is on the bus path. Am I wrong here? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Dec 2018 07:30 PM PST So I picked up a 12" Macbook in Mexico and did not even consider that the keyboard would be different. There are only a few differences, like a few extra keys for things like upside down question marks, and I was able to remap them to other keys, but some of the number keys have the wrong symbol on them compared to a normal us keyboard. For example, the 7 key shows a "/" when really it is a "&", etc. The "return" key is also the narrow/tall european style. When typing fast I dont really notice, but when going slow and looking at the keys it is very confusing. Does anybody know of a keyboard overlay for a 12" Macbook International keyboard that has the common US items printed on it? Or should I just get some stickers for the few keys that are really bad? This is what the keyboard looks like: https://i.imgur.com/Oh73719.jpg [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Dec 2018 01:12 PM PST Basically, when I try to post a photo to Instagram, this happens: Some background information: My iPhone is an XS (not Max), I am running the latest release of iOS (12.1.2). Instagram is up to date and I am using iCloud Photo Library. This happens with SOME photos, but not all. There are photos I can post without the quality degrading. I have already attempted to download the original by zooming into this particular photo on the Photos app. Does anyone have any ideas why this would happen? Or how to fix it? Thanks in advance. Please help me figure out a buffering issue with Apple TV. Posted: 29 Dec 2018 07:08 PM PST I'm trying to stream videos from a 2018 MBP to an older generation Apple TV (before it had storage and stuff). I use apps called Airflow and Beamer. Lately, I can't get through five minutes of a video without suffering through long periods of buffering. All of my software is up to date, and the videos are mostly 720p. What can I try to fix the issue? Can I somehow improve my WiFi, or is there a better app I can use? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
What did I just buy? (Is this iPhone SE fake?) Posted: 29 Dec 2018 04:05 AM PST I recently purchased a "new" iPhone SE from Amazon, the dealer who is located in my country got excellent rating and listed the price at 320€, just like the retail price before it got pulled off the stores. It arrived today and when I opened it I discovered more and more things that seemed really fishy:
I posted some screenshots with the "fake" compared to a friends iPhone SE packaging (left is "fake", right one is legit): https://imgur.com/a/ADL2tl8 I highly doubt the whole thing is an official apple product due to the poor assembling quality of the package and papers, but if the iPhone is actually real, what kind of scam I got into ? I'm thankful for any help 🙂 EDIT: I contacted Amazon to return the product and refund my money, still the whole thing is very curious. [link] [comments] |
I have a 2015 15" Macbook pro with an AZERTY keyboard Posted: 29 Dec 2018 07:02 PM PST Can I carefully pop the keys off and put them back in the qwerty configuration? Seems like it should be doable. Has anyone done this? Are there online instructions? [link] [comments] |
Can’t share activity with coworker. Posted: 29 Dec 2018 06:50 PM PST Even though she has Apple Watch and iPhone, and was able to share with another coworker. She has iMessage off but still was able to share with other coworker. We have each other numbers. [link] [comments] |
Is there anything that can be done about my iPod Nano? Posted: 29 Dec 2018 11:09 AM PST A few years ago I got an iPod Nano. It has been sitting in my drawer unused for years. I live in the UK so it's not like it has been exposed to extreme temperatures or water etc in the drawer. I charged it up today because I wanted to start using it again and noticed the screen was warped a bit around the edges. Upon removing the device from its case, I noticed the screen bulging out of the metal housing. This is dangerous right? Is it worth contacting Apple support? Does anyone still use the Nano? Apple iPhone 6S Battery replacement Posted: 29 Dec 2018 12:41 PM PST Hello! Took an old phone to the GeekSquad to take advantage of the $29 battery replacement. Two days after having the battery replaced, vertical lines show up in the display. The GeekSquad is telling me the display's capacitors are blown out and can't handle the new voltage of the battery. Their fix will be to find a "less wattage" battery and reinstall the battery. Does this sound correct? They were mad at me on the phone -- they called me back because I submitted a poor review of the fix as requested by a follow-up e-mail. Posted: 29 Dec 2018 02:51 PM PST I bought a MacBook Pro four months ago to use for college. Since I have finished the semester I would like to clean the hard drive to how it was originally, since the only files that I have saved are pdfs of books and documents. How could I go about this? Is it possible to disable the Ipad Pro Smart keyboard shortcuts? Posted: 29 Dec 2018 10:26 AM PST I cant seem to find a way to disable the shortcuts for the smartkeyboard folio for my ipad pro 2018. It is wildly annoying because whenever I am writing/drawing on the screen, i rest my arm at the base of the keyboard hitting the command+space buttons which makes the search menu open. Anyone experienced this and know any ways around it? [link] [comments] |
Finder reporting zero kb as size of big folder Posted: 29 Dec 2018 05:43 PM PST I'm trying to get the size of a folder which contains a bunch of files, probably a few gigabytes. When I command-I the file, though, the info pane says zero kb. What could be throwing this off? Screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/ok6jRcK [link] [comments] |
iPhone apparently updated and now my SIM card isn’t supported Posted: 29 Dec 2018 01:30 PM PST I looked at my phone and there was a pure white screen saying something along the lines of "update complete, activation required." I thought this was weird, but went a long with it. After setting up WiFi, etc. I was told that my SIM card isn't supported anymore. This has happened before, but was usually fixed by restarting the phone or reinserting the SIM card. But neither is working this time. Any help? Edit: I can't update my carrier settings while the SIM card isn't in it and can't do anything in the phone with it in because I can't get it past the invalid sim screen. [link] [comments] |
My macbook charger mysteriously stopped charging Posted: 29 Dec 2018 05:15 PM PST The battery seems fine. 200 cycle count (2015 mbp) and it's condition is "normal". So the charger is just fried then.. right? [link] [comments] |
