Are we going to make a post every time Apple passes Microsoft in being the most valuable company? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 04:45 PM PST The stock market is very volatile, and with that Apple's value will repeatedly change in comparison to Microsoft. Does this mean we're going to see posts every single moment one overtakes another? I feel like this will become annoying fairly quickly. [link] [comments] |

Blackberry beats iPhone XS in MKBHD's Blind Camera Test Posted: 04 Dec 2018 12:02 AM PST It's not the most detailed comparison, but I actually liked this video because it shows 1. How compression in social media affects photo quality even coming from $1000 phones and 2. How the general public prefers a brighter and highly-processed photo over accuracy. [link] [comments] |

Bought my AirPods on the 19/12/2016 and here's an update after almost 2 years. Posted: 03 Dec 2018 09:40 AM PST So I've heavily used my AirPods for almost 2 years and I'm still impressed with them apart for some minor issues. Firstly the battery life has degraded but nowhere near as much as I thought they would. I use them pretty heavily so around 8 hours a day, I've noticed that they've gone from about 5 hours of use time to around 3.5 hours and the left one is slightly worse (I hardly ever use them individually). I've not noticed a difference in the case battery life. One other thing I've noticed about battery life is that they drain a lot quicker than when new but this is expected. If I had them at 100% charged this used to stay the same overnight but now they'll be between 75%-80% charged in the morning. The other issue is that sometimes I put them in the case and one of them won't have registered to begin charging so when I go to use them either the left or the right one isn't charged whilst the other is. I have to fix this from time to time by just cleaning the slots on the case with a cotton bud and this normally fixes this problem temporarily. So overall I'm happy and I'm in no rush to replace these yet as they still have a lot of life left (hopefully!). How are your ones holding up? [link] [comments] |

Do you think Apple was an influence on Tumblr banning porn Posted: 03 Dec 2018 09:58 PM PST Apple is generally hostile to porn apps and took Tumblr off the app store before because some child porn was found on it. Do you think fear of getting removed from iOS influenced Tumblr decision? [link] [comments] |

Macbook air 2018 or macbook pro no touchbar? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 10:41 PM PST They are both pretty close in price and the only reason Im having trouble deciding is the macbook pro doesnt have the touch id and the air does and has better battery but the pro is more powerful. So I just wanted some input on what I should do [link] [comments] |

In the age of slim SSD’s, what is your storage setup? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 06:28 PM PST I have a 2010 iMac with about 1TB of hard drive space used, and I'm thinking about getting a new Mac, possibly a laptop this time. However, getting a large SSD in a Mac these days is super expensive. Right now, my setup is so clean: 1 internal drive that is backed up to Time Machine and offsite via Backblaze. It seems that I will need a more complicated setup in the future. Multiple external drives (1 for extra stuff, 1 for backup)? A NAS (which Backblaze won't accept)? Or I go all in on cloud storage like iCloud or Dropbox (more large monthly fees ewww)? So I ask you: in the age of slim SSD's, what is your storage setup, including your backups? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Dec 2018 09:56 PM PST On the contrary to other posts. I am almost deadset going to buy the XR (budget, portrait mode better in lowlight situations, battery life!!!). Other than the LED display which I do not mind at all (have a dying 6+ atm), can you convince me to buy the XS instead of the XR? [link] [comments] |
Why is Apple Support not using FaceTime instead of regular calls? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 09:47 AM PST This. Just realised while calling Apple Support. Seems like this should really be a no-brainer. Audio quality is so much better with FaceTime Audio, no carrier costs, can take calls with iPads and Mac. Edit: FaceTime Audio not Video. Edit 2: Reason for post; had really shitty audio quality with apple support using iPhone 6 and Airpods - realized now that it might be a Bluetooth problem with my phone since it's buggy lately. Edit 3: If I had a problem with my phone, I'd really like to have the option to use my iPad to call Apple Support with FTA. [link] [comments] |
