What do you do to keep your Mac/MacOS minimalistic? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 12:22 PM PST Let me know! I'm interested to see how simple and clean, or not, some of you keep your machines! [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Nov 2018 08:34 PM PST I have macOS Sierra, not high Sierra, since I just did a big refresh of my computer. I'm not sure what caused the lags and bugs but my 2017 15" MacBook Pro with all the top options was having some real issues. So I decided to do a fresh reinstall from the HD. Here I am sitting on Sierra wondering why go to Mojave? What do I gain? Is it faster and more streamlined? More functionality? Why should I upgrade? [link] [comments]
Care to share the fixes you found for battery drain in Mojave? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 06:51 PM PST I'm experiencing HUGE battery drain on my Macbook Pro Retina '13, specially noticed this while in sleep mode. I read a lot of people had the same problem, personally, I just believe Apple is making everything worse every year, but I wanted to focus on solutions rather than pointlessly complain, so here is a useful link I found, I read it helped many users, sadly I was not one of them. I was thinking to use this as a thread for found solutions on this issue, so please guys if you can share your findings regarding this problem maybe we can help a lot of users. Thanks! Giving up administrator password to DropBox! Posted: 16 Nov 2018 04:00 PM PST Way after installing Dropbox app on Mojave, some window pops up and asks for administration password to complete system integration. Isn't this a big security problem? What are their programmers thinking? I prefer to delete their app to give up my password to a random pop up. [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Nov 2018 05:02 PM PST Hey guys, i was wondering if there is a way to downgrade to another OS without losing any data. I got no backup files (i can make them, but if possible i'd like to keep my files the same way they are, let's say Itunes albums in the same order they were added). [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Nov 2018 01:46 AM PST Is there any way to add that cool window transparency like in 3rd party app screenshot provided? I know I can reduce transparency in settings. I know there is also a way to make a Terminal window transparent. I just want to add that cool effect to every app. [link] [comments]

Posted: 16 Nov 2018 11:53 PM PST Usually I put in the access code for a restricted printer to be able to print in Preview... But it is gone. How do I fix this? [link] [comments]

Anyone know what app is causing this "Adobe upgrade popup"? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 10:20 PM PST There's a scam going on about Adobe Flash. https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2477746 One solution is to delete the app, but I can't find which app it is. I open Applications in Finder and I can't see which one it is. Here's the solution, but it doesn't say WHICH file to delete. I have 2 Adobe files and 7 Adobe dirs. How can I tell which one is the scam? Has anyone dealt with this? Is there a free scanner that someone can link to that can handle this? https://www.pcrisk.com/removal-guides/10748-adobe-flash-player-update-scam [link] [comments]
Aspect ratio glitches while in fullscreen on Safari Posted: 16 Nov 2018 07:54 AM PST Hey there, does anyone else notice some kind of glitches while watching videos in safari? They are like Safari tries to change the aspect ratio, but it doesn't so it just glitches. Only happens in Safari, but then on every video I try to watch in fullscreen. Does anybody know, how to fix this? FYI I am new to Mac and just recently set my Mac up. [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Nov 2018 07:52 AM PST I have a mid-2015 MacBook pro, running 10.14, and a late 2013 iMac, running 10.13.6. I've connected them together as follows: I've tried to use the cmd + F2 to use the iMac as the display screen, but it flicks off then back on with the iMac screen. Its like it's trying to switch but going back to the original. Any ideas of what I need to do to use the iMac as my MacBook screen? The person that had the iMac before me was using the same setup before it was reset by our IT guys for me to use. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Switching System Appearance using Terminal Posted: 16 Nov 2018 08:16 PM PST Hi, I'm looking to automate setting some preferences on my Mac. How would I set Mojave dark mode and the graphite accent and highlight colour from terminal? I've played around a bit with AppleScript, but haven't gotten it to work. Got any ideas? Thanks. Keyboard does not work anymore after Mojave installation (after login) Posted: 16 Nov 2018 02:18 PM PST Hey guys, today I decided to install Mojave on my Macbook Air. Everything was working like a charm before this. After the installation has finished, I logged in, and then my keyboard stopped working. Before the login it's ok, but right after I cannot type anything. I tried to reboot in safe mode: the keyboard works ! I tried to create a new user in safe mode. I restarted the macbook and the keyboard is working on the new session, but still not on the first one ... So it must be a software problem ... I tried to reinstall Mojave (because maybe the installation failed), but still the same problem ... Do you guys know where the problem can come from ? I was thinking about doing a full reset but I would like to avoid this... Thanks ! [link] [comments]
Dock Lag: Mojave, MBP Retina Late 2013 Posted: 16 Nov 2018 08:39 AM PST Anybody else having annoying dock lag with Mojave? I had no problems with El Cap, but with Mojave it seems that there are two issues:
This never happened before and I'm wondering if anybody has a fix. [link] [comments]
Changing restart options when an app/installer requests a restart? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 08:36 AM PST So, when me, myself and I are performing a restart, I don't restore windows, because when I'm logging in, I want to give my Mac some time to initialize AdGuard Home, DNSCrypt, before my VPN and all the apps. I'm still using Startupizer2. Not to save time, but to give time. So, when an installer or app (after an update) requests a restart, macOS just ignores this, and restores all windows, no matter what. I have set the "close all windows" option active in the general preferences and in the restart dialog shown when doing a restart, the "restore windows" option is unchecked. Can I force macOS to always do a restart without restoring windows? Or disable this feature altogether? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Nov 2018 06:53 AM PST I have tried many third party options that "remove" acceleration like ControllerMate, USB Overdrive, SteerMouse, the closest I could get to a windows like is using SteelSeries ExactMouse tool together with CursorSense at the same time, still not perfect but at least a little more "usable". I have also tried the terminal command defaults write .GlobalPreferences com.apple.mouse.scaling -1, but the sensibility is too slow for me. In windows I use max mouse settings so you can have an idea. I know many people love it and others don't even noticed, but for me, my productivity has slowed down and, my wrist and arm are in pain... very serious on going back to windows, is frustrating that I have to change my mac just because I don't have a setting to remove the mouse curve and increase the sensibility a little higher. Also, I have noticed that the cursor get attracted to links/action events, something like auto-aim in a shooting game, is there anyway to disable this? Please any help would be appreciated. "Verify Chromium" never stops, CoreServicesUIAgent dominates CPU — suggestions? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 01:36 PM PST Trying to update to the latest Chromium build, but when I launch it, I get a little "Verifying Chromium" window that never goes away, and never shows any progress. While this is going on, CoreServicesUIAgent is using 150%+ of the CPU and it's impossible to do just about anything else on the computer. When I stop the verification, CoreServicesUIAgent keeps on cooking, and I have to launch Activity Monitor and Force Quit that service (it does not say it's not responding). Because the "verify" process is a system process, and because CoreServicesUIAgent keeps going after I quit the "verify" process, my sense is that the problem isnt' with Chromium — having said that, I've never had this problem with any other app installed from the internet. I thought about chucking the CoreServicesUIAgent preferences, but they're 2 years old, so that seems an unlikely culprit or I would have had this problem every time I installed a Chromium update. Would appreciate any suggestions. MacBook Pro Mid-2009, El Capitan 10.11.6. ADDITIONAL: I just turned on allowing apps from anywhere, then let the Verify process run and run. After 20 minutes, it finally finished...and said I couldn't launch the app because it's from an unverified developer — even though I'd allowed aps from anywhere, and even though I've been downloading Chromium updates through the official channel with no problems for years and years. Am I missing something or is there no way to copy screen to clipboard in Mojave? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 08:42 AM PST This seems like a pretty big miss to me. When I create a screen shot then click the Send To icon I expect to see the clipboard. All said, I'm kind of underwhelmed with the new screenshot app. [link] [comments]
[Help] Printer stops working when Mac taken off network Posted: 16 Nov 2018 07:47 AM PST Have an issue with 10.14 where when someone takes their macbook off our network (where they have installed network printers), once reconnected to the network, the printers no longer print. The printers seem to be in a constant state of "waiting". No other machines (including other macs) seem to be having issues printing to these two printers. We have tried removing/re-adding the printers, which gets them working while connected, but once the machine is off the network again the problem re-appears. [link] [comments]
