Is it safe to delete the com.apple.coresymbolicationd folder from system cache? Mine is 33gb Posted: 20 Nov 2018 11:40 PM PST I'm running a 80gb partition of El Capitan that i've constantly been battling with for months. Every time i delete files my free hard drive space mysteriously disappears again. I think i've finally found the culprit with OmniDiskSweeper: My .com.apple.coresymbolicationd folder from system cache is 33gb. Is it safe to delete that folder? I don't want to break the system but i need the space. Even if i could just delete a few gb of it so that i can use my system again properly for the rest of the week (right now there are 0 bytes fee space). Or any other strategies to free up space? (i've deleted all non-essential stuff already. Even some stuff i regret deleting) P.s. I'm aware that 80gb is way too small, and i do plan to reformat by entire hard drive next week (the HD is 1tb, that partition is 80gb), but for now there is audio work that must finish by the end of the week on the system the way it is. How do I remap Shift+Click in Safari to launch hyperlinks in a new window? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 06:53 PM PST I enjoy Safari's battery life savings, but I would much rather sacrifice some battery in favor of a more modern browser like Chrome or Firefox, simply to handle Shift+Click better... The default behavior is incredibly annoying, adding hyperlinks to a reading list instead of what most other browsers do. Is there a way to remap this hotkey, or should I just ditch Safari altogether? I tried System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts, but I don't see an option there for remapping mouse clicks with modifiers. Nor do the Trackpad, or even Mouse preference panes offer this option :/ [link] [comments]

My media keys won't open spotify Posted: 20 Nov 2018 07:14 AM PST I reloaded my iMac last week with Mojave and now my keyboard pause play Rew FF buttons don't work with Spotify. Every time it opens stupid iTunes which I don't use anymore. I've tried that Mac media key forwarder and have it set to Spotify only, but the button still opens itunes. Any other suggestions I can try? I'm so frustrated and hate iTunes. [link] [comments]
Posted: 20 Nov 2018 12:09 PM PST Ever since upgrading to Mojave, whenever I respond to an incoming phone call call from my Mac, iTunes will open and start playing music. It happens regardless if I accept or decline the call. Has any one else experienced this? [link] [comments]
Magic Trackpad 2 - erratic behaviours on Mojave Posted: 20 Nov 2018 09:05 AM PST Bought the new Mac mini with Mojave preinstalled. Before I got the mini I was using my trackpad with my MacBook Air (High Sierra) without any issues. I did some research and it may seem to be related to bluetooth connections. But I've tried disconnecting all other bluetooth connections and this intermittent jumpy behaviours persists. Is it a Mojave problem? Anyone else experience this? [link] [comments]

Is there a free app that would put watermark on my pictures? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 09:18 AM PST I have a set of pictures that I want to put watermark on and I'm looking for an easy (and preferably not paid) way to do it. I did a little research but all I found were some "pay-to-use" apps and workaround with Annotate tool in Preview application, which unfortunately doesn't work for me since I want to put whole logo on my pictures and not only a regular label. I'm convinced that there are some apps out there with this kind of functionality I just couldn't find them. Can you help? [link] [comments]
Cmd+Shft+5 screen recording dropping frames Posted: 20 Nov 2018 08:18 AM PST Has anybody had any issues using the new built in screen recorder in Mojave? I keep having the problem where I will screen record a video and it will play completely fine while I'm recording. It doesn't glitch or hiccup or anything. Then, when I play back the recording, every 5-10 seconds the video will have dropped some frames and I get a frozen frame for about half a second. Is anybody else having an issue like this? Any fixes? I have other screen recording software that doesn't do this; the built in screen recorder is just easier to use, but useless if I can't figure this issue out. [link] [comments]
Posted: 20 Nov 2018 11:40 AM PST I recently got an App Store alert to open 10.14.1, which for the life of me I can't recall even downloading. Am currently on Sierra, with intentions of one day upgrading to Mojave, which I also plan on having on a thumb drive. After discovering the 14.1 version install file I then searched for the original version 14, with no luck. Unless I'm missing something painfully obvious (which is highly likely), can I expect to a) successfully install Mojave from the 14.1 version already in Applications, b) can this 14.1 version be used for install on a thumb driven by copying it prior to opening, and if not, c) where the flock can I find 14.0 since it appears to be no longer available through the App Store? Internet Restore does not see install disk, DiskUtility causes reboot Posted: 20 Nov 2018 11:09 AM PST I bit the bullet and started a re-install of my 2014 iMac 5k after fsroot corruption (thanks to everyone that helped in this thread). All the files are backed up, so its just about getting the os installed now. When I do the cmd-opt-r boot, the internet installer starts and I can go through the first steps. When the time comes to pick a disk, I dont have any options. Disk utility shows the 2gb system partition and 500 gb Apple SSD with one partition which in turn has with one 500gb apfs container on it. If i try to remove/reformat either the ssd partition or container the system crashed after 10 seconds or so and I'm back to square one. Am I missing something here or is it time to head down to the bar? EDIT: After much noodling around, I found a way to fix the broken disk structure - credit: [link] [comments] |
