| Why does my Macbook Pro screen look pixelated and weird? Posted: 14 Nov 2018 03:06 PM PST I'm using a 2012 Macbook Pro (just upgraded to Mojave), and the screen is having some issues. I'm able to temporarily resolve these issues by restarting my computer, but the problem is a recurring one. Any advice on why this is happening and how I might fix it? Notice the white areas (where entire windows or icons have been reduced to white blocks), and also notice the multicolored, pixelated squares. | Question about videos on iPhones X-XR Posted: 14 Nov 2018 10:00 AM PST With the removal of the home button, there is a bar at the bottom of the screen. Some videos place the play button and the video length bar right above it to scrub through the video or skip parts of a video. I'm finding that I keep swiping the video away of I swipe left to right on the video scrub bar. Is there anything I can do or can I not skip through videos anymore? [link] [comments]  |

I'm not really good with technology but I'm suspecting that my Iphone is hacked or has a virus, here's why: - I woke up this morning to most of my social media signed out, including my apple ID, google drive, gmail etc. (this has never happened before) - Only my main account on instagram was logged out, not my spam account - When I checked my security settings on facebook, it showed two places that I have not been to recently where my account was accessed from - I just looked in the photos app, all of my photos are gone. The only things left are pictures I took yesterday. None of my videos were deleted though I've already changed the passwords to my social media + added on the two-factor authentication option. I just downloaded the Mcafee security app and am using a VPN through the app Is my phone hacked or have a virus? Any suggestions on what to do? | iPhone X screen black but responsive after dropping Posted: 14 Nov 2018 09:45 PM PST My girlfriend dropped her iPhone X, and the screen went black. I'm pretty sure the screen is still responsive because, whenever she presses it, it flashes. We tried force restarting it, but it didn't do anything that I can tell (it's hard to even tell if we really restarted it). I'm really not sure what to do. We got the screen replaced recently by iRepair (a kiosk at the mall), so I'm assuming the job was faulty? Anyone have any idea what we can do about this? This morning when I went to boot my MacBook up it didn't, and when I went to connect the Magsafe adapter it didn't turn orange or green, telling me that it isn't charging my Macbook. However, whenever I removed the cable to try it a different way or switch outlets, the LEDs on the side of the Macbook would blink indicating low power. Surely if the Macbook recognises that a Magsafe adapter is being unplugged then there's no reason why it wouldn't be charging? Very confused and would appreciate any assistance! [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 14 Nov 2018 08:33 PM PST With every update to iOS, changing the brightness on iPad becomes more of a hassle. Current procedure: minimize app I'm using, open settings, open display and brightness menu, move slider, go back to original app. Is that really the only way of doing it now? No shortcuts? The auto-adjust works great for increasing the brightness when moving into a brightly lit room, but doesn't shift back when returning to a darker room. It's uncomfortably bright. [link] [comments]  |
| iPhone 8 Rapid Disconnect/Reconnect with Mac Posted: 14 Nov 2018 08:00 PM PST I've seen this issue a lot around the internet and no clear solution to it. My iPhone will rapidly connect and disconnect whenever I use the USB ports on my Macbook Pro 15" (mid 2015) to charge my iPhone. It does this with every USB port, happens regardless of what cable I use (official Apple cable or 3rd party), and it appears to only happen when my iPhone is low on battery. I can successfully connect my phone to my laptop when the battery is above 50%. I do not get this issue when I'm charging my iPhone via the wall adapter. I have tried charging my phone with the same two aforementioned cables, and it works just fine. This issue only appears when I try to charge from my laptop. And this issue is not just isolated to my iPhone 8. My old iPhone 6 had been doing this for a while too with any cable I attempted to charge it from. I have found multiple "solutions" online that claim to fix this problem. These include but are not limited to: - Unplugging the cable and replugging it in - Restarting my laptop - Using an official Apple lightning Cable - Going into System Preferences > Network > iPhone USB > click Disable Unless Needed - Making sure my devices are on the latest firmware - Clearing out the lightning port and USB port of any potential dust - Cleaning off the tip of the lightning cable - Making sure my laptop is connected to power I researched the above attempted solutions on Apple's support forums, tech blogging sites like Macrumors and iFixIt, and scanned archived Reddit posts, to no avail. One may be prompted to reply to this thread saying that maybe both of my USB ports are faulty, and to that I say that's not the case. I can successfully connect a flash drive or other external drive to my laptop, can use them to print via USB, used a 3rd party USB keyboard, and have charged a multitude of devices via these ports including my Fitbit, a power bank, bluetooth speakers, and my 3DS via a USB charger. The *only*, and I emphasize *only*, devices that have *ever* given me this issue are my iPhones. Only there doesn't appear to be a conclusive answer to this that I can find on the internet, I am sure I am not the only person asking this question... I am a photographer/videographer and I am considering changing my Mac for a iPad Pro. But I want to be able to transfer photos from my camera, to the iPad to edit in Lightroom, then once done, transfer some of those pictures back to my SD card. There was no damage to the laptop and I've tried everything online to fix it (even resetting my mac), but nothing I've tried has solved it. Anyone know of the issue and how I could fix it? | Trying to Copy a Time Machine Backup from a RAID 1 Enclosure to an External HD Posted: 14 Nov 2018 02:50 PM PST I'm trying to copy my Time Machine Backup from a RAID 1 to an external HD. I've got the permissions set on the external HD set according to what Apple says they should be set at and the format is according to what they say also. The RAID 1 has two 4 TB hard drives and the external hard drive is a 4 TB. When I try doing this, it starts out stating that there is 2.48 TB on the RAID 1. But after it has copied this much, it continues copying as though it is copying the mirrored files from the second drive of the RAID. It then fills up the 4 TB external HD and gives me an error that there is not enough room to copy the files. Any thoughts? [link] [comments]  |
| Is this level of GPS "moving" normal? (Video) Posted: 14 Nov 2018 11:01 AM PST I've had iPhones for about ten years, and I don't think I've noticed this on any other phone except for my new XS. My GPS can get my general location but pretty much never stops wandering around. I've noticed this on a handful of GPS related Apps like Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, and even on Pokemon Go. I've talked to Apple Support, and they did one of those remote diagnostic tests and said everything in my phone is working properly. I went through all the steps with them, the final being a restore from recovery mode. I recorded a screen capture to show what I'm talking about, and this example is actually pretty mild. In the video, I should be right next to Carmichael's Bookstore. I've been in this same spot befe and even seen it moving around across the street. [link] [comments]  |

| help.apple subscription still gets money from credit card despite unsubscribing four months ago Posted: 14 Nov 2018 12:00 PM PST I tried to unsubscribe to apple four months ago because i rarely use it and we as pondering about using amazon prime instead (wanted to try the nfl shows they have in prime) i thought i made had poorly unsubscribed three months ago and tried to unsubscribe again. i thought i was unsubscribed since that month i can't use my itunes. it won't let me select "none" for credit card. I keep on receiving receipts for my subscription (which could have gone to my netflix or amazon) on apple despite repeatedly un-subscribing that me and my partner sat down on a pc and looked for any nooks and cranny that may say that i am still somehow subscribed. Still won't accept none and doesnt want disposable visa card. . help tldr : trying to unsubscribe to apple for four months keeps getting recepit for 'subscription' even though apple and itunes are practically wmpty and wont let me remove my credit card or have a disposable visa on account. Last night I was on ign.com and I could feel it start to warm up also warms up when charging and just streaming music. Is this normal? | Are time machine incremental backups supposed to take 3+ hours? Posted: 14 Nov 2018 05:36 PM PST Mid 2015 MBP. Mojave. USB 2.0 rotating HD. I do backups every 7-10 days. No really significant download/upload. My time machine backups will take hours. The latest one was 30GB, and I left it to run for three or four hours and I came back and it had only completed 11GB. I stopped it because I wanted to take my laptop to a meeting, and when I had it resume backup tonight, it seemed to start over again at 30GB. I left it on my desk for an hour, and it's only up to 1.7GB. Is this common? It's kind of a pain to have a portable computer be non-portable for six hours every week or so. I don't like to leave the backup connected too long because if there were a power surge or something, I'd lose the backup, as well. [link] [comments]  |

I know I can charge my iPhone with my iPad if I get a USB-C to Lightning Cable but can I tether over USB as well? Update: I talked with Apple Support. They tried to help me set up a personal hotspot twice before I sent them a sketch diagram of what I wanted to do. Then they sent me what looks like an internal link to a support article detailing the ways to connect my iPad Pro over USB-C and claimed you couldn't connect an iPad Pro to an iPhone with a cable 😑.
