Sold my old iPhone 6 on Craigslist to teenager, his dad is pissed and somehow knows MY dad’s name?? Posted: 01 Nov 2018 07:42 PM PDT Before I sold the phone, I took the SIM card out, then went into settings -> general -> reset -> erase all content and settings. I had to put in my Apple ID and stuff and after it rebooted I got the white "Welcome" screen that cycles through languages. Sold the phone to the guy, thought that was that. Well, now his dad is calling me telling me I need to bring the money back because the kid isn't allowed to have a phone. He's left me a few voicemails and the most recent one asked for "OP or (OP dads name)" to call him back. He could've easily found this info on google probably but now I'm super paranoid. Is there any personal info that could've been left on my phone before I sold it?? [link] [comments] |
Does iTunes have chapter controls for most TV shows? Posted: 01 Nov 2018 09:00 PM PDT Every Law and Order episode I own (which is a lot) has chapters on other media (DVD) and other players (VLC). But every time I look at the Controls menu in iTunes the chapter controls are grayed out. [link] [comments] |
Macbook Air won’t show anything when turning on Posted: 01 Nov 2018 08:28 PM PDT Hello. I have a 2014 Macbook Air 11". The problem I currently have with my Macbook is that it turns on and then the display shows a gray/black display. My Macbook shows the out of battery symbol and chimes when it turns on. Posted: 01 Nov 2018 09:30 AM PDT Basically, I got a new phone (red iPhone 8 Plus). I did the basic jazz, backed up my old phone data through iTunes (old phone is a iPhone 6, regular, not plus) and everything was there.... except for all my text messages. There's a lot of sentimental things from my family, friends, and future wife that they've sent me over the years, and I really enjoy looking at them a lot on rainy days, and I don't wanna lose them. So, is there a way to merge my old text messages with my new and current ones without anything getting deleted? (Because doing the classic restore and backup would mean I lose everything I currently have on my new phone, which are some gorgeous photos from the last couple weeks.) Thank you guys for any and everything, I really appreciate it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Nov 2018 09:53 AM PDT Just to preface this, I'm completely new to the Mac OS. A friend of mine gave me an older MacBook Air (2013 version, I believe) with the Mountain Lion OS (10.8.5) running. So, to upgrade to Mojave I created an Apple ID on the website, went to the App Store, clicked on the new OS version, and then logged in. First, it tells me that this new ID hasn't been used yet and to review my account information. When I click review, it says: "Software Update Required To make changes to your payment information, you need to upgrade your Mac to the latest version of macOS." In essence, I'm in a Catch-22 situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. FIXED: Thanks to u/damo13579, I got the account working through iTunes. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Nov 2018 05:29 PM PDT I am not seeing a bashrc or bash_profile file in my home directory. I read that I may have to created my own .bashrc file or macOS will just use the default system bashrc file in /etc. I did this and have not had any success. What gives? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Nov 2018 05:28 PM PDT Hey guys, my iPhone 7 experienced the cellular connection issue and I took it to the Apple Store. They gave me a loaner iPhone 6, and within a short period of time I managed to damage the phone quite severely. It is bent and both the screen and the digitizer are broken pretty badly. My phone is ready now, should I still give them the severely damaged phone? And exactly how screwed am I money-wise? [link] [comments] |
Dropped my IPad today and now charging port is broken Posted: 01 Nov 2018 09:10 PM PDT So when I go to bed my ipad is always next to me charging. This morning I woke up and saw the IPad on the ground next to the bed. I just picked it up and it was at 100 and still charging so I thought nothing. Anyways I go downstairs and plug in my earphones, the newer editions meant for the iPhone seven, and when I plugged it in, it would not play to the earphones. It wasn't a big deal to me so I got regular ones with the older end, which worked. Now here I am with the IPad at 1% not charging. The battery is there but instead of a percentage it just says not charging. Obviously related to the fall in some way, but is there any way I could fix it without getting a repair? I've already reset it and tried another charger. [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro trackpad not working Posted: 01 Nov 2018 04:50 PM PDT My trackpad stopped working and my computer automatically try's to connect to a Bluetooth keyboard (which I have never done). Did an smc reset initially which fixed it but then the next day it happened again and no matter how many times I reset it I can't get it to work. Computer is basically unusable at this point [link] [comments] |
Seriously no battery percentage option? Posted: 01 Nov 2018 08:20 PM PDT I just got the iPhone Xs max, and there's seriously no way to just put the battery percentage in the service bar? Every other iPhone has had that option but now I have to swipe for it? Ugh [link] [comments] |

Iphone 6 up to date ios and 5gb storage free and still lags very badly Posted: 01 Nov 2018 07:50 PM PDT Hi all, my iphone 6 has been going very slow lately. Every time i try to type something the screen is blank and then four words that i've typed appear about 5 seconds or so later. Just really laggy at everything. I've deleted heaps of videos and photos and it says i have about 5gb free (16gb model). Updated to the latest ios. Is there anything else i can do or is it time to restore to factory? “System” taking up 40 GB of storage on iPhone??? Posted: 01 Nov 2018 04:00 PM PDT I have an iPhone 7 Plus with 128 GB. I was checking my storage to see if my next phone needs 128 again or if 64 GB will suffice. Total used is 57,6 GB - but "system" takes up 40,6 GB of that? I remember having that problem on iOS 11 but thinking it would get solved with 12. Nope. Now that I'm looking into getting a new iPhone, I'm confused. So what's going on? That can't be normal right? Posted: 01 Nov 2018 07:38 PM PDT I have tried all the possibilities on the itunes, whether it was restoring or upgrading. I constantly get error 14, but I am sure all my cables are secure. I have tried restoring on a macbook and a computer. I have also tried using dr.fone, reiboot, etc, but I am not willing to pay for them to fix my ios. Do you guys have any suggestions of free ios repair programs or any more tips on how I can solve this. I really do not want to go to the Genius Bar. [link] [comments] |
How to remove the iCloud songs from my iTunes library on my Mac? Posted: 01 Nov 2018 01:47 PM PDT Currently running macOS Sierra, all I want is for my iTunes to show my local music files. I have never used iCloud Music Library, but I did purchase some iTunes songs back in the day. These are now appearing with a "cloud-download icon" in my iTunes library. I don't want to download these songs though, though. On this particular MacBook, I just want to store local files in my iTunes library -- nothing that I've purchased from iTunes. How do I remove these songs or hide them from my screen? Is the only way to do that to right-click on them and say "delete from library"? I've tried that but it warns me that "this will hide your itunes purchases", so I'm just wondering if that's the one and only way of getting rid of them, or is there a better way? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Nov 2018 04:12 PM PDT When I was in class today all of a sudden my iPad Pro 10.5" froze up, and then displayed connect to iTunes. I connected it but it was unable to update. I dont remember when my last backup was, is ther a way to avoid factory restoring my iPad and losing my data? [link] [comments] |
External DVD drive no longer working with Mojave Posted: 01 Nov 2018 10:14 AM PDT I have an external Samsung DVD drive that I occasionaly use with my late 2015 5k iMac. I've noticed that since I've been using Mojave (currently on 10.14.1 beta) the drive no longer seems to work. It's getting power, becasue I can still open it, put a disk in, and hear it spin up, but nothing shows up in finder, VLC, etc. Has anyone else had this isse, and does anyone have an answer? I've tried some googleing, but so far I've come up empty. EDIT: Never mind, I tried a diffrent USB cable and now it seems to work [link] [comments] |
MAC PRO MID 2010 NOT BOOTING UP Posted: 01 Nov 2018 03:23 PM PDT (Mid 2010) Mac Pro Problems Recently my dad's Mac Pro (mid 2010) started having an issue where it couldn't turn on at all so we tried fixing this computer as it is a really reliable and strong machine which has never failed him before. *NOTE: We are doing this ourselves as the computer is already vintage and our ASPs (no Apple stores in Panama) won't fix it*. The machine does not make the bong sound as when we press the power button it does absolutely nothing. We tried replacing the PSU and it started working but only for an afternoon until it suddenly shut down while my father was watching YouTube videos to stress it a little bit (no kernel panic, no nothing). After that the problem started again so we gave the Mac to a friend who replaced the logic board battery and we put a new thermal paste but nothing happened. Our friend told us that the LB is not getting any power from the PSU although its new and its perfectly working. My dad already ordered a PC from Amazon but we still wan't to fix this as we don't want to leave such a good machine in the trash. Specs: ATTEMPTED: If anyone knows how to fix this I would really appreciate some help (Uploaded this in MacRumors too) [link] [comments] |
Accidentally erased new external hard drive with Time Machine Posted: 01 Nov 2018 03:20 PM PDT I bought a new WD 2TB hard drive today and plugged it into my computer. Time Machine came up and asked me if I wanted to use the drive and I choose "erase" and now my computer won't recognize that I have an external plugged in. Can someone help me bring it back?! There was nothing on the external as it's new but the icon is gone and I can't save anything in it. :( Thank you!! [link] [comments] |

Can the regular MacBook do USB-C to HDMI? Posted: 01 Nov 2018 02:48 PM PDT Maybe a dumb question, but every time I google it the results are always about the MacBook Pro and/or Thunderbolt 3. Just want to make sure before I buy an adapter. [link] [comments] |
My mac will deselect an application randomly around a minute in. Posted: 01 Nov 2018 02:39 PM PDT Basically the title. It doesn't switch to a different application, it just deselects the current application making me have to click on it again to make it the active front application. It does this for everything but is mostly annoying with most things, but has crippled certain things in photoshop like the lasso tool where it won't give me the time to make my selections. It just treats the app like I clicked something else. while still having the application at the front of my screen. Is there any way to fix this because I'm at my wits end. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Nov 2018 04:45 AM PDT I have 2 Lenovo monitors hooked up to my 13 inch macbook pro running high sierra. Each monitor has a HDMI cable that is linked to a HDMI to USB type c adapter that has 2 female ports. I can mirror 1 screen but that's it. I can't detect the 3rd monitor nor see it in arrangements. I tried it out with my windows machine and each monitor can display individually and link with each. Anyone else experience a similar issue and solve it? [link] [comments] |
Installing new SSD on 2013 Macbook Pro Posted: 01 Nov 2018 02:08 PM PDT So I bought a new 512GB SSD for my macbook and I had a question about hard drive cloning software. I was going to use Macrium Reflect v7 to make a clone of my current HDD and transfer everything over to my new SSD. I have Windows 10 (Boot Camp) and MacOs Yosemite installed on my current HDD. Will I run into any issues trying to make an image of my HDD? [link] [comments] |
