| looking for current USB-C dock recommendation Posted: 17 Nov 2018 03:00 PM PST I have a 2018 Macbook Air, so two USB-C ports. I'm looking for a dock with at least one 3.0 or higher USB-A port, at least one display output capable of 4K@60Hz, and preferably a USB-C PD so I can plug the power adapter into it and use just one cable. I'm aware of the thunderbolt docks with all of the above and more but I'm looking to keep the cost under $100. All of the cheaper multi-port connectors that I've found seen to be limited to 4K@30Hz. I'm thinking the next best option will be an adapter with USB-A + USB-C power delivery and a separate USB-C -> DP cable. Any recommendations? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 17 Nov 2018 08:56 PM PST The device is a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) OS is High Sierra version 10.13.3 It isn't coming from iTunes because it plays even when I force quit the application. There are no applications open that would be playing the audio. I don't have any tabs open that I've forgotten about. The audio is triggered inconsistently just by typing. It has played twice since I started writing this. The audio is triggered consistently by jiggling my headphones in the audio jack of my computer. There are no videos currently on my computer that contain spoken Japanese, and I really doubt that it's coming from the Devil Man Crybaby soundtrack, the only audio files that would potentially contain Japanese. | IPHONE XS Thumb Tap Not Working In Safari Posted: 17 Nov 2018 06:39 PM PST So there's several websites that I'll go to where the touch screen or tapping your thumb won't work unless I reload it. For example, YouTube almost never works the first time I go to it. I can scroll up or down, but if I click on another video or the comments to open up, Safari won't recognize that I'm tapping it. Posted: 17 Nov 2018 05:50 PM PST I am listed as the organizer my brother-in-law is listed as an adult who recently purchased a book with my credit card that's on file how was that possible, how can I stop that from happening in the future? It was only eight dollars and I'm not concerned about the price but I am concerned that there was no security or prompt allowing or declining the purchase so does he have access to my credit card at all times? | MacBook Pro 2017 Trackpad Problem Posted: 17 Nov 2018 09:03 PM PST So I recently had a problem with some keys getting stuck and apple fixed it by replacing the top case which I think also includes the trackpad. After I got the computer back, I started noticing that the trackpad is sometimes being unresponsive around the edges. Sometimes, when I press I get no feedback and I don't feel the regular click of the trackpad. As I keep clicking it goes back to normal. It's not like this issue is ruining my work but it certainly shouldn't be happening and it's irritating. This only happens to the right and left edges of the trackpad. | iPhone XR iCloud Photos Not In Chronological Order Posted: 17 Nov 2018 02:28 PM PST I just upgraded my iPhone 7 plus to an iPhone XR. I thought all my photos had been backed up but it only downloaded a portion of them to my new phone when I restored it this morning from the backup I did yesterday. I plugged my 7 into my MacBook Air, it automatically started uploading them to iCloud and the photos started coming through on my XR. The issue is that they are not in chronological order in the "All Photos" album. They are in a random order, making it difficult to find anything I need. When I click the Photos Tab they are in chronological order, but this doesn't really help when I try to upload to Twitter for example because it only lets me select from the All Photos album which is out of order. How do I get all of my photos onto my XR in chronological order? I have about 10k photos. They are in order on my MacBook Air, iPhone 7 and in the iCloud.com photos section but not on my XR. | iPad Air randomly restarts to lock screen Posted: 17 Nov 2018 12:13 PM PST So I have a 2 year old iPad Air which I use mainly for YouTube/netflix. Within the last 6 months it started to become slower and more recently has been randomly restarting. Now I'm not talking Apple logo restart or anything, what happens is that I'm using an app when it's suddenly extremely slow and parts of the screen are unresponsive, 5 seconds after that all the buttons (home button, power, etc) stop working, then the screen goes black with a spinning loading thing in the middle for a few seconds, and I'm shown the "enter passcode or Touch ID" screen. It is important to note that I can use Touch ID unlike a restart, and that all the apps are forcibly shutdown so I have to reopen them, even the background task for an app which shows up when u double click is gone, unlike a restart which keeps it. I've tried going to a service to check it but where I live there are no Apple stores in the country and the service people aren't exactly professionals, so my problem was kinda ignored. I've tried deleting safari cache but that only reduces the rate of restarts. The restarts used to happen once or twice a day, but now it's more like 4-6. I've done a geek bench result before and the iPad is a little slower but not anything significant. The battery is the same and lasts the same time. I have a theory that it could be iDrive Sync but i have that set to sync the other internal drive that I replaced the CD drive with. I've previously had to replace the internal hard drive cable 3 times. Otherwise, no idea what's going on. Before I restarted my laptop it said 200gb used by kernal_task. [link] [comments]  |

| How to see the order of shuffled music on iTunes? Posted: 17 Nov 2018 06:44 PM PST I remember in the earlier days of iTunes that when you wanted to shuffle your music, you could click on the upper bar and get the exact order of the randomized tracks (on PC). It was really nice, because if I saw that I didn't want to listen to several songs in the first 10 random tracks, I could just reshuffle and see what music I would get. Unfortunately, I've been looking for this feature for some time now, but I'm unable to find it. So I wondered, does anyone know how to enable this feature? | iPhone 6 making partial alert buzz? Posted: 17 Nov 2018 06:14 PM PST Hi there, I have a quick question about my iPhone 6. Ever since I updated it to iOS 12, it will occasionally buzz unprompted. The phone is set to vibration only, and the vibration (the Symphony option) will usually cut off on the second beat. Today, I was having a text conversation with a friend, and inbetween texts, I would set it down, but I would hear it buzz, pick it up, and there would be no notification displayed. Actual notifications were accompanied by the entire ring, not by the two-beat ring. It has been completely shut down and reset since updating (this is not the only problem with the phone!), and it's more of a nuisance than anything else. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you! | Mini displayport to HDMI issue. Late 2011 MBP 13" Posted: 17 Nov 2018 02:27 PM PST Hi all, Wife was using a 3rd party Mini displayport to HDMI cable to stream from laptop to TV. Worked almost seamlessly for a few years. Did not use for a few months and may have updated to High Sierra in the interim. Now she cannot get a connection between TV and Laptop. "Connecting" appears on TV screen for a few moments but then goes to "No Signal" Tried different TV, no joy. Software is all up to date TV sees the cable even if Laptop not connected to other end of cable TV does not seem to be the issue. Maybe laptop or cable issue. We had already removed the old user from the iPad and my mom was using my iCloud account on it, but now its iCloud locked with the other persons iCloud account. I have tried the add file option I have tried drag and drop i have also tried the automatically add to iTunes folder option and it will not work. It is extremely infuriating and im so close to just removing iTunes from my computer since i now have no use for it. | Part of my iPhone 6 screen is unresponsive Posted: 17 Nov 2018 05:25 PM PST I dropped my iPhone, the screen is damaged but only the upper middle area is unresponsive while the other areas are responsive. Mhich makes me unable to unlock my iPhone. The Assistive Touch is also on the area too, so I can't use it for any kind of setting changes. Is there anyway to fix it without going to a phone repair center? Since it's Sunday already in Europe and like 90% of the shops are closed. I'd love to use it to check my WhatsApp notifications and for incoming calls or messages but I can't unlock my phone and get in my sim because of this situation, so I was wondering if there was a way to at least fix it for now before I repair my phone's screen? | iPhone XR keeps dropping wifi connection Posted: 17 Nov 2018 04:11 PM PST Two days ago I bought an iPhone XR, since then it keeps dropping wifi connection. My iPad air and iPhone 6S do not have/had this issue ever. I've reseted network settings and power cycled my router several times. Thing is if I go into wifi settings and manually try to reconnect it usually fixes the problem, tho only for a little time, it's totally random when it drops the connection again. Beside this issue phone works perfectly. Do you think this is a software issue or my phone is faulty? While out hiking, it fell out of my pocket, and my buddy stepped on it with his boot because he was right behind me. Anyway, the phone is at a 5 degree angle now. It's been a week since then, and I noticed a few things. First, my LTE slowly went to 4G even in hotspots for T-Mobile. Second, it stopped giving me 4G altogether. Now, I'm stuck on "Searching."
