Chrome is proving to be a far faster browser.... Is it just me or is Safari that bad? Posted: 10 Oct 2018 09:47 PM PDT Reddit loads horribly on Safari, so does Facebook. I feel that Safari is generally struggling to load pages VS Chrome.. I stick to Safari because they tout "privacy" and what-not, but is it that much for me to not switch over to Chrome? What's everyones experiences? [link] [comments]
Safari Performance Incredibly Slow After Clean Install of Mojave 10.14 Posted: 10 Oct 2018 02:22 PM PDT Hello everyone, This is my first time visiting this sub and I would really appreciate if someone could shed some light on this for me. I have searched around for answers but surprisingly I have yet to find more than 1 or 2 forum threads regarding this specific issue which has left me puzzled. I did a clean install of MacOS Mojave 4 days ago on my early 2015 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina equipped with the 3.1GHz i7, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB SSD. Since the install I have had incredibly slow performance when navigating in or even opening Safari. I notice the performance degradation compared to High Sierra most on websites like YouTube and Reddit (specifically the hot mess that is the Reddit redesign). I was wondering if anyone else has had performance issues similar to this in Safari and if anyone has any suggestions as to how to address the issue. I tested in Chrome for comparison's sake and had very little lag on either website. Chrome seems largely unaffected by the software update while Safari is almost unusable for me. Thanks. How to remove the "More.." option on file properties in Finder window Posted: 10 Oct 2018 11:32 PM PDT Anyone knows how to get rid of this unnecessary option of "More.." on the right side of a file when finder window is in column view? Previously you could see last open time, size etc. Now you have to scroll down on it because the option "More.." covers that information :( [link] [comments]
How does Apple verify the integrity of Internet Recovery? Posted: 10 Oct 2018 07:33 PM PDT When we proceed with Internet Recovery option on a Macbook device, is there a mechanism in place to verify the integrity of data? How does Apple ensure the downloaded content is not being altered by the network? How do end users verify that their device is not connected to a bogus server? [link] [comments]
Homebrewed Bash to get the latest version, now I can't run scripts as executables. Posted: 10 Oct 2018 12:02 PM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxquestions/comments/9myyh0/novitiate_question_bad_substitution/ I was having issues with MacOS's provided version of bash not allowing me to do things I should be able to do. I used then changed the default shell to /usr/local/Cellar/bash/4.4.23/bin/bash After I did this, I suddenly am not able to run any files as executable with the hashbang #!/usr/bin/env Running the script like so just results in the terminal hanging until I CTRL-C it out. I can still run the script with What did I break? [link] [comments]

PostCheck doesn't work with Mojave Posted: 10 Oct 2018 11:53 AM PDT I've loved PostCheck plug-in for many years -- it lets you conform addresses for you contacts with the USPS database, adding the zip+4 and getting their abbreviations right and so on. But it's not compatible with Mojave. Anyone have a similar plug-in they can recommend? [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Oct 2018 11:28 AM PDT After updating to Mojave, whenever I use my Bluetooth headphones, the balance is noticably shifted to the left - I can barely hear the audio coming from the right side, while the left is quite audible, especially in the lower tones. I know this isn't an issue with the headphones themselves, since they work just fine when connected to my phone. Is this a known issue? [link] [comments]

Spotlight not showing applications Posted: 10 Oct 2018 09:37 AM PDT Hi, Ever since I'm on Mojave, my spotlight stopped showing applications. I've already done a full re-index (HD in sys pref > spotlight > privacy window and out of privacy). I've also "unchecked" everything in sys pref > spotlight, re-checked. Nothing is working. Any tips? Q: Dark elements in Light mode Mojave possible? Posted: 10 Oct 2018 09:34 AM PDT Is it possible to adjust the Light mode in Mojave with some dark elements, like Menu Bar, Notification Center and Dock in dark? I'm aware of tools like NightOwl or Toggle Dark Mode (to get the old look back) but haven't found anything that only adjusts a few things in Light mode only. [link] [comments]

Did a fresh install of my mac - now the brightness doesn't seem as high? Posted: 10 Oct 2018 04:34 AM PDT As I said in the title, yesterday I did a fresh install of mojave. Now when the screen brightness is at full it's more like how it used to be at 70% brightness. Any idea why this has happened and how to fix it? [link] [comments] |
