| Macbook is running extremely slow and kernal_task is using 350% of cpu power Posted: 04 Oct 2018 02:51 PM PDT So i turned on my macbook and for some reason it was extremely slow to boot and took a while for it to reach the home page so i restarted it and nothing change and so i decided to update it to the newest macOS Mojave. the update took literally 16 hrs my internet speed is very fast. when the update was done the results were the same so i went into my acitivity monitor and this is what i saw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih31WXV_aqk the fans are running very loudly and the labtop is unusable, one thing i have noticed is the battery is showing a sign to replace it soon, is it effecting it ? should i turn my macbook off incase of further damage? I know I can just set up a pretty image and press "Show Clock" in my screensaver settings, but it's just not the same. Now when i restarted the phone it's asking for a passcode after the phone is wiped. Also, i removed the SIM card. Is there something missing or am I forgetting something? Please Help. Posted: 04 Oct 2018 03:37 PM PDT It all happened when I chose to install the profile from my internet service provider because it sounded like a cool idea to be able to access WiFi's automatically. I've since removed that profile. I've also turned the auto connect setting on and off. I've even tried reformatting and reinstalling the iOS. Nothing works. It's like it stuck connecting to WiFi's. It's stupid because I'll be sitting at a red light and it'll stop using 4G and try to connect to some far off WiFi that doesn't work, and I'll lose internet for minutes. It's been suggested that I delete and reload the app...didn't work. I tried powering down my iPad...didn't work either. Trying to contact Plex was worthless. I've figured out to transfer music through itunes but I have no idea how to do so with photos and gifs. Photos on iCloud only lets me upload Jpegs and gives me a "Photos has stopped working" message if i try to upload 50 small jpeg images. | Youtube on Safari looks like a hot mess Posted: 04 Oct 2018 07:19 PM PDT Hello r/applehelp, I come to you as my last hope. This issue has been plaguing me for months but I was hoping the new version of safari would just fix it for me but no. For some reason, youtube looks like straight trash on safari for me. Here it is. I tried troubleshooting the issue for a few hours to no avail. I first tried disabling all the extensions to see if that would make a difference. When that had no effect, I tried deleting the website data(cache, cookies), this did nothing as well. I checked my youtube settings to see if maybe there was an option I clicked which ruined it, I couldn't find anything. I tried going into responsive design mode and looking at the website on different devices to see if it was something wrong with page zoom. Then finally I tried to see if I could use my meager HTML skills to diagnose it and used web inspector but found nothing obvious. Then I noticed something strange. If I log out of youtube, the format goes back to normal but only for that tab! Here it is all normal and beautiful. I can even log back in and the format will stay properly formatted. But as soon as I go on youtube on a new tab or window, it goes back to a jumbled mess. It's a bit tedious to do this every time so, I've been using chrome lately. I want to stay with safari but, youtube being broken really hampers the experience. Has anyone had this problem before? I'd appreciate any help you can offer! | Posted: 04 Oct 2018 01:15 PM PDT I had a iPhone 5s (iOS 10.3.2) whose baseband and touchscreen are broken and upon approaching numerous local repair stores they said it's better to buy a new one than having it fixed at a much higher cost as they claimed that the intergrated circuit board are damaged too. Therefore I followed their advice by buying a new phone to replace it altogether. For the old phone since touchscreen is obviously broken and hence unable to unlock it with passcode and do the factory reset solely on-the-phone I have to connect it to iTunes and press the "restore" button per this advice. Not to mention that the usage of DFU mode was present during the process. However I encountered the quite famous (-1) error during the process which is indicative of the said baseband problem hence again I've no fucking idea on whether the data inside (like say my confidential Whatsapp PMs) has been wiped out or simply rendered permanently inaccessible as it should normally. In this case does it still mean that the wipeout/deletion phase of the restoration process alone is successful? [link] [comments]  |

| How to disable the “Do Not Disturb” notification? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 06:17 PM PDT First things first, I still prefer listening to music on my iPod Touch. I haven't used Spotify enough to justify making an argument on why, but at this point I have grown too attached to my music library to switch. And if Apple really isn't gonna release another iPod, I'll probably get a secondary iPhone (preferably with 256 GB) and remove the SIM card so I can still use it as an iPod, with no phone calls or monthly payments to interrupt my listening experience. And if that's not possible with the newer models, then pray to heaven above there's an MP3 player somewhere out there that has enough room for my massive music library. With that out of the way, I updated my iPod to iOS 12, and I noticed that every other time I open the lock screen, I get a notification reminding me that I have "Do Not Disturb" turned on. I leave it on so my music doesn't automatically get interrupted when someone calls me on my iPhone (I already configured my Fitbit to remind me on that), so I just clear it whenever it pops up. But having to do this over and over gets to be mildly aggravating, and now I must ask: how am I supposed to disable the pop-up from appearing? [link] [comments]  |

| Mouse button behavior in Firefox Posted: 04 Oct 2018 05:13 PM PDT Long shot here and I'm not sure whether to ask here or /r/firefox, but I figured I'd start here. Late 2012 MBP running Mojave. I have a 5 button mouse. In Linux and Windows, mouse 4 and 5 go forward and back in browser history in Firefox. But in Firefox on OSX, these buttons both act the same as a middle click. Oddly, the forward/back behavior of these buttons works as I would expect them to in Opera in OSX. I looked in System Preferences > Mouse and there's no way to configure these buttons. This is a reflexive browsing habit for me, and Firefox is by far my favorite browser - I'd rather not use a different one. My Search Fu is failing me. I'm sure Windows is great, I'm just not interested in switching ecosystems at the moment. (Hackintosh or otherwise.) The weirdest part of it all is that the issues don't seem wholly pervasive. Like I'm making this post from that iMac with no issue. I can still open VSCode and get work done. | Posted: 04 Oct 2018 09:16 AM PDT Hey guys, I live in Argentina, so the Apple ID I use for my iPhone and my iPad is configured to the Argentina Region. I've always used this ID and I don't have intentions of creating a new one. Thing is, there's a game, which is currently soft launched in specific countrys like Canada, and I'm desperate to try it out. BUT, in order to be able to download it, I have to change my AppleID from Argentina to Canada region. So, this is the part in which Im kind of paralized, specially for my installed apps. What will happen to all my apps once I change from Argentina to Canada region ? Will they be still there for using them ? What about the apps that are specific for Argentina Region (such as some local banks apps, and so), will I be able to still use them ? I know that, if I'm in Canada region, all the Arentina-Region apps won't be shown for updating, that's totally logical, but I want to make sure they will STILL be installed and I will still be able to use them (no matter they might be outdated over the time). Also, eventually (in a few months when the games goes global) I will get back to Argentina region, what will happen then ? I there's someone who can assist me with this, I will be really grateful. I tried force restart, DFU mode and connecting to iTunes but nothing works. Seems like I just acquired a $750 paperweight. | Posted: 04 Oct 2018 10:18 AM PDT Hi all -- I'm reaching out here in the off-chance anyone has any experience with this issue: (please see screenshot below) I'm developing email templates within Microsoft Outlook (creating .OFTs) for my company. The HTML and CSS formatting shows up without any issue. However, there is a confidentiality disclosure that is inserted after the email is sent (pretty common thing). I have no control over this, and does not show up in the template. This disclosure shows up fine across all third party apps on an iPhone (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook). However, when viewing the email within the Apple Mail app, I start running into an odd issue. It shows up fine at first, but when you rotate the phone to landscape/widescreen format, the disclosure text seems to float up into the body. Then, when rotated back to portrait, the weird formatting stays that way. I'm wondering if anyone on this sub knows of any Apple Mail specific formatting quirks that would cause this so I can develop around it. I realize it's a strange issue with many possible solutions.
