    Apple TV Siri commands

    Apple TV Siri commands

    Siri commands

I was just messing around one day and was able to get the Siri from my iPhone to pause my video on AppleTV. Is this new, and if so, is there a list of commands?

Why does my ATV4 not automatically update?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 02:30 PM PDT

    Current: TVOS 12.0 (16J364)

Last night I checked to see if there was an update, there was. I wasn't done watching TV yet, so I left it. Assuming it would be done over night as I have Auto Updates enabled. It didn't.

    Update: TBOS 12.0.1 (16J380)

This has brought me to think this has never worked. As most times I check if there is an update; there usually is.

Infuse / MrMC on Apple TV compared to Kodi on Fire TV?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 11:34 PM PDT

Hello, I'm using a Fire TV 2nd generation with Kodi and I'm super happy with it. Now I get a second TV and need a second streaming box, mainly for my MKV's (1080p / x264 / x265) on my NAS. The new Fire TV's are aweful so I'm thinking about getting an Apple TV.

I learnt that Kodi is no option on the Apple TV but I found 2 apps (Infuse and MrMC). Are these comparable to Kodi and which one do you recommend?

    Thanks

Apple TV Wifi/network/internet issue after latest update

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 06:41 PM PDT

Anyone else having problems after the update?

I woke up to my apple tv 4th gen white LED blinking. I figured it was doing an update, so I let it go while I went to work. Came home to it still blinking. I connected it to my MacBook, but iTunes didn't see it, so I restarted it via Menu+Play/Pause button. iTunes finally saw it and I restored it. I thought I was out of the woods, but when I tried setting it up again, it says there's no network connection. It would connect to my wifi network, but say there's no internet. Everything else on my wifi (Airport Extreme AC) has internet without problem.

Update: I restored it a second time after power cycling my AirPort Extreme. I logged into my WiFi "manually" instead of the "with a device" and it finally connected. Everything seems to work again, minus the fact I have to redownload and resign into all the apps again. Ugh!

What are the most popular controller based games?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 11:36 AM PDT

When Apple announced last year that apple tv will have games coming in, it was very exciting. But what I actually notice is that there are very few good games on tvOS as compared to iOS. And their graphics quality is not as good as on iPhone.

Redditers, what games do you play mostly on apple tv?

    For me, it is

    - Asphalt 8

    - The Afterpulse

    - MC5 (was a good one, but I think their most recent one is buggy and does not start)

    - Shadowgun Legends (The best one so far)

    - Gods of Rome

I would really wish PUBG comes to tvOS. What other games do you play?

    Pretty complicated question

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 11:14 AM PDT

Does an apple tv use it's own internet connection if a phone casts a movie link to it?

    Background information:

I have a chromecast and macbook pro. If I were to use my macbook pro, via chrome, to go to a website and watch a movie on it (not netflix, hulu, etc, but more of a third party streaming website), I would be able to cast it directly to my chrome cast. The MBP would essentially be messaging the chromecast the direct link to that video. The chrome cast would play the video on my screen while I can do other things with my mbp.

    .
    .

    My question is:

Instead of using my mbp and instead of using chromecast, can I do the same exact thing with my iphone X?

Can my Iphone X go to the same exact website, find a movie, 'cast' the movie to my apple tv, then the apple tv uses its own ethernet connection to play the movie?

    Thanks!

I mostly watch stuff from itunes or video files on my computer. Do I need an apple TV?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 09:04 AM PDT

Mainly considering it compared to plugging in a computer or iPad via hdmi cable. (You can get a dongle for the ipad)

Does the Apple TV display things better than my computer would? Or is getting one just about convenience?
