Posted: 02 Sep 2018 06:35 PM PDT To all those people with like 4-8 year old laptops, how did you keep your MacBook Pro that it was able to keep working that long? Do you do any intensive task regularly or just light-medium work? Do you bring the laptop around a lot or do you leave it on a table a lot? I have a 2017 MacBook Pro 13' and want to keep this thing for 6 years or more. [link] [comments] |
What cheap ssd works with MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2013)? Posted: 02 Sep 2018 11:35 AM PDT I have a MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2013) that has a hard drive problem and I just want to buy an SSD for $50 but I do not know what SSD works with this MacBook. How to display Contact names on Mac iMessage (Numbers only show)? Posted: 02 Sep 2018 07:20 PM PDT I've googled some possible solutions but nothing works. When receiving messages sent to my iPhone, it pops up onto my 2015 Macbook Pro as well, but shows the number and no names? Any other possible solutions to this? Current: MacOS High Sierra (10.13.6) Macbook Pro 2015 [link] [comments] |
Repairing trackpad and replacing battery on Macbook Pro 2012. How much? Posted: 02 Sep 2018 07:00 PM PDT Wondering how much this would cost. Need to invest in some repairs to keep this thing in shape. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Weird disconnect between Macbook iMessage and iPhone iMessage Posted: 02 Sep 2018 05:57 PM PDT I've got an iPhone 6s and a 2015 Macbook Pro. Somewhat recently, I've been noticing a problem where my iMessage push notifications on the Pro (which are turned on) don't show up, I just get a phone notification. Even when I've been texting on my laptop, the notifications just come up on my phone. So if I hear my phone vibrate while I'm on my laptop, I'll open the text on my laptop, but then my phone doesn't register that I've read it. Both devices are as updated as possible as much as possible. I recently updated everything and rebooted my computer, and it went back to normal for a bit but now is doing the same thing. I'm not a tech-savvy person so maybe it's an easy fix, but I'm hoping someone can help. (I've been posting this on a bunch of Mac/tech support subs, I promise I'm not spanning, just desperate) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2018 05:02 PM PDT I am on the lookout for a new MacBook; haven't had one before. Starting final year of college in just over a week and my current laptop is really not cutting it anymore. I will be doing a LOT of typing as I am a software engineering student, there will be plenty of project reports and code written. This brings me to the keyboard. I haven't looked into it fully, but are all MacBook Pro without TouchBar prone to have the keys locked due to dirt and dust? I know I can rely on the good screen and battery life, one of the reasons I'm aiming for the MBP. I can get the one with 7th Gen i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD for a seemingly decent price with the Education pricing, directly off Apple's website. Ireland based, should I choose a retailer instead? Or should I aim for a different choice of the MacBook entirely? [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro 15-inch (2018) quite warm when plugged-in Posted: 02 Sep 2018 12:31 PM PDT I'm quite new to MacBooks (this is my first 15-inch Mac), so sorry for some of the naïveté. I've noticed that the computer runs much warmer (around 140 degrees F for the core temps), particularly in the area above the Touch Bar, when plugged in (and connected to a 1080p monitor) versus when its on battery (around 100 degrees F--can't feel any heat). Is this normal behavior? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2018 12:10 PM PDT I have a 2016 13" MacBook Pro Touchbar, on which I game sometimes. When I connect it to my 4K OLED LG TV by (Apple) USB-C -> HDMI adapter, the video on the TV is extremely laggy, while on the MacBook screen everything's fine. I've already set the TV to gaming mode and everything and the funny thing is that when I boot into Boot Camp Windows 10, there's no lag, so it must be OS-specific. Can anybody make sense of this?
